Fenerbahce deny Allan Saint-Maximin's claim they gave him ‘doping products'

New York Times05-07-2025
Fenerbahce have denied Allan Saint-Maximin's claims that the club tried to dope him last season.
The 28-year-old winger spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Fenerbache from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.
Speaking on the Zack Nani podcast, Saint-Maximin alleged during his time at the club that when he fell ill, Fenerbahce staff gave him 'treatment that's considered a doping product'.

Fenerbahce responded to Saint-Maximin's claims with a statement that read: 'By distorting the facts regarding the medical treatment he received following a health issue, the player has attempted to mislead the public and damage the reputation of our club.
'As Fenerbahçe Sports Club, we hereby inform the public that we will exercise all our legal rights against these misleading statements and any attempt to undermine our institutional reputation.'
Saint-Maximin scored four goals and provided five assists in 31 games for Fenerbahce as his side finished second in the Turkish Superlig, nine points behind champions Galatasaray.
The winger gave a reason as to why he thought his side missed out on winning the title, saying: 'Jose Mourinho (Fenerbahce manager) gave everything to be champions. But unfortunately, there are an enormous number of things that happen, things around the club that are really complicated.
'To give you an example for me, they went so far as to want to dope me, to say how serious it is. These are things that people don't know. You don't speak out because someone is threatening you behind your back. It goes beyond football.'
There was no suggestion from Saint-Maximin that Mourinho was involved in anything he described.
After the clip of him speaking garnered widespread attention, Saint-Maximin added the following on social media: 'I see it's going viral on Twitter, so I'll clarify what I said. I was talking about these people around the club who are prepared to do anything. In my case, when I was ill, I was practically given a treatment that is considered to be a doping product. I don't know what the purpose of this team of doctors was.'
Mourinho and Saint-Maximin had a public disagreement in March. The Frenchman was left out of his side's Europa League game against Rangers in March after the Portuguese coach labelled him overweight. Saint-Maximing denied the accusation, claiming he was the same weight he had been when he had played for Newcastle United.

Saint-Maximin's brother, Kurtys, then got involved in the disagreement, saying: 'Being special means showing class when the moment calls for it, not kicking a soldier when they're down.
'Attacking someone who is at their lowest with slander on their birthday is not classy, especially when you know there's injustice involved. Dirty laundry should be washed in private.'

Liverpool forward agrees sensational move

A Liverpool forward has agreed a sensational move and rejected the club's new contract offer in the process. At this moment in time, Arne Slot's side are bracing themselves for the loss of several attackers. Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa are all but certain to depart for pastures new. LFC Kits Shop Now LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Meanwhile, Luis Diaz's move to Bayern Munich seems to get closer and closer by the day. With three forwards out, it's understandable why Richard Hughes wants to bring in Alexander Isak, on top of having already secured the future of Hugo Ekitike. With Isak and Ekitike, Liverpool will have a formidable forward line. You'll still have Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah to make up the 'fantastic five' in attack. Not to mention young Rio Ngumoha and potentially Jayden Danns also giving Slot's side options in the rotation. In another world, Ranel Young could have also been part of that conversation. Last season, the 19-year-old regularly trained with Slot's first team. He even made the first team squad on two separate occasions. First against Brighton in the EFL Cup, where Young sat on the bench. Then later against Plymouth in the FA Cup, where again Young was not able to get on the pitch. Those experiences should have pointed towards hope of a breakthrough for the youngster. Despite his contract expiring at the end of the season, Liverpool confirmed that they had made an offer to him and a number of other players. But Young has rejected that offer and he has now agreed a sensational move elsewhere. Remarkably, Young has gone from Liverpool to FK Usce. Yes, you heard that right, the Reds youngster has moved to Usce. This has been confirmed on the club's official Instagram page. Who are they? Last season they were competing in Serbia's third division and earned promotion to the Prva Liga, which is the second division of Serbia. That's where they will be competing this season, and they will be hoping Young will give them enough firepower to stay up and potentially even earn back to back promotions. It's a very rogue move for the Liverpool youngster. At the same time though, it's an opportunity to venture abroad and play regular first team minutes. At 19-years-old, that's what you will want to be doing and Young can now use this opportunity to build his career. A successful season in the Prva Liga can become a springboard to a much higher level. **👉 **Liverpool set to increase transfer budget by £200m 🔗

Chelsea Are Keeping Tabs On The Situation Of This Newcastle United Star: Dream Signing For Maresca?

In a recent report, The Independent mentioned that Chelsea are keeping tabs on the situation of Newcastle United star Alexander Isak this summer. It has been claimed that the Blues are ready to compete with Liverpool in the race to land the Swedish striker this off-season. Isak's Impressive Record At Tyneside Last Season Isak was one of the top performers in the Premier League last season when he put in a handful of productive displays for the Magpies in the final third. The Sweden international found the back of the net 27 times and earned six assists in 42 matches for Newcastle United in the previous campaign across various competitions. The 25-year-old was a reliable performer up top and did well to average 3.10 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He kept 43.2% of his attempts on target. Isak even distributed possession accurately in the opponent's half based on his pass completion rate of 75.3% in top-flight football (stats via His current deal at the Tyneside club will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Blues to snap him up on the cheap in this summer transfer window. (Photo by) Will Isak Be A Dream Signing For Chelsea? Isak excels at creating some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a powerful runner with the ball up top. The Sweden international has proven his worth as a deadly finisher in front of the opponent's goal. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and is well-equipped to make an immediate impact at Chelsea if they can devise a way to bring him on board before the end of this transfer window. Isak would add plenty of goals to Enzo Maresca's attack. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting place at the West London club next season. At 25, Isak has his best years ahead of him which makes him a dream signing for the Blues to pursue in this transfer period. Furthermore, he is good enough to help Chelsea challenge for the Premier League title in the coming years.
