Canada issues multiple heat warnings
According to Environment Canada, the heat warnings cover big cities like Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal with daytime highs of up to 35 degrees Celsius, which, combined with high humidity, will feel like up to 42 degrees and are expected to continue to Thursday night.
"Southern Ontario will experience hot and humid conditions now through much of this week. A shift in the weather pattern late this week will likely end this multi-day period of heat and humidity Thursday night," said the authority.
"Extreme heat can affect everyone's health. Determine if you or others around you are at greater risk of heat illness. Check on older adults, those living alone and other at-risk people in-person or on the phone multiple times a day," Environment Canada cautioned.

During the launch of the upcoming China-West Africa Medical and Health Industry Expo, Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, director-general of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), said that the collaboration with the Chinese company seeks to transform Ghana into a sub-regional hub for medical innovation and regional health advancement. "Through this collaboration, we aim to establish AI treatment centers across Ghana, deploy AI-powered medical imaging and diagnosis systems in key healthcare facilities, and equip public and private hospitals, laboratories, and diagnostic centers with cutting-edge medical technologies," Akoriyea said. Akoriyea said Ghana would also set up a cancer treatment and research center to serve national needs and expand access to modern surgical equipment, pharmaceutical solutions, and medical training resources through public-private partnerships. About the upcoming expo, jointly presented by GHS and HCOWA, Akoriyea said this year's edition would attract over 1,500 stakeholders from across West Africa, more than 100 Chinese medical enterprises, and delegations from the public sectors in all 15 West African countries. HCOWA Vice President Prince Opoku Dogbey said an AI medical supply chain platform, a digital platform, would be launched during the expo to enable foreign and local companies to trade medical supplies, forecast needs, and manage inventories with speed and precision, with Ghana as the pilot country.

LUSAKA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Zambia held an orientation ceremony on Tuesday for the 26th Chinese Medical Team, with government officials expressing appreciation for the continued support from Chinese doctors in strengthening the country's healthcare services. Typhoon Nari makes landfall over Japan's Hokkaido
TOKYO: Typhoon Nari crossed the Hokkaido coast on Tuesday (July 15), the first landfall by a typhoon on Japan's northern main island since 2016, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Xinhua reported. The fifth typhoon of the year made landfall near Cape Erimo at the southern tip of Hokkaido at around 2am local time, also marking the first to make landfall in Hokkaido during July since records began in 1951, the weather agency said. The system, which formed over the weekend around 200km south of Chichijima Island in the Pacific, moved along the eastern side of the Japanese archipelago before approaching Hokkaido, and turned into an extratropical cyclone at 9am local time. Weather officials called on residents to remain vigilant against strong winds in Hokkaido, with maximum speeds of up to 87.48 km per hour recorded in the city of Kushiro. - Bernama-Xinhua
