UAE Announces New Corporate Tax Rule for Partnerships
Under the Federal Decree-Law No. (47) of 2022 on the Taxation of Corporations and Businesses, unincorporated partnerships are generally regarded as tax transparent entities.

This means that the partnership itself is not subject to corporate tax, but the partners are taxed individually on their respective shares of the partnership's income.
However, 'the law also provides an option for the partners to apply for the partnership to be treated as a taxable person, similar to any other legal entity,' according to a stant by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) citing the Ministry's announcement.
The new Cabinet Decision grants unincorporated partnerships the option, subject to prior approval by the Federal Tax Authority (FTA), to be recognised as a taxable person.
'Upon approval of the application by the partners, the unincorporated partnership will be regarded as a legal person and a resident person for tax purposes,' the statement added.
This change means the partnership will receive the same tax treatment as other legal persons under the law.
The Decision outlines the rules for determining the taxable income of unincorporated partnerships to ensure clarity and certainty in tax compliance.
According to the Ministry, this step aims to promote tax neutrality. It allows unincorporated partnerships to access exemptions and reliefs available to legal persons under the Corporate Tax Law.
The decision is expected to help streamline the taxation framework for partnerships that choose to be taxed as a single entity, rather than having their partners taxed individually.

Qatar Refers 13 Companies to Prosecution Over Tax Evasion
Qatar's General Tax Authority (GTA) has referred 13 companies to the Public Prosecution for alleged tax evasion totalling QR36m ($9.9m) during the first half of 2025. The GTA confirmed the referrals stem from thorough investigations conducted in collaboration with relevant government bodies. The probe uncovered major irregularities, including cases of companies intentionally concealing income to evade taxes. The measure comes as part of the GTA's commitment to the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, specifically the pursuit of financial stability through enhanced tax system efficiency and universal adherence to responsibilities by all economic actors. The 13 companies, all legally registered in Qatar, are now subject to legal proceedings under the provisions of Law No. 24 of 2018 — the country's Income Tax Law — which criminalises tax evasion and fraudulent reporting. The GTA reiterated its commitment to fair enforcement and called on all taxpayers to submit accurate and timely tax returns, warning that evasion not only harms the economy but also undermines efforts to create a sustainable and diversified financial system. Bahrain launches first Consumer Protection National Youth Programme in GCC
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Ministry of Youth Affairs announced the launch of the pioneering national initiative 'Consumer Protection Ambassadors,' targeting ambitious Bahraini youth aged 24 to 30, encouraging them to actively participate in supporting community awareness efforts in consumer rights protection. The programme will run from July to August 2025 for two months. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, emphasised that the initiative stems from the Ministry's belief in the importance of involving youth in building the future. It also aims to enable participants to gain practical and field skills in consumer protection by engaging in workshops and awareness campaigns in cooperation with the specialized teams in the Ministry's Consumer Protection Directorate. He underscored the Ministry's commitment to providing a comprehensive training environment that includes theoretical training programmes on fundamental consumer protection concepts and relevant regulations and laws, as well as practical training through real participation in receiving consumer complaints and ensuring effective communication with consumers. Minister Fakhro noted that what distinguishes this pioneering national youth programme, the first of its kind in the Gulf and Arab region, is the awarding of the title 'Consumer Protection Ambassador' to participants who complete the program, along with experience certificates in the field of consumer protection and training opportunities, in addition to incentive financial rewards for outstanding participants provided by the official entities sponsoring the initiative.
