He underscored the Ministry's commitment to providing a comprehensive training environment that includes theoretical training programmes on fundamental consumer protection concepts and relevant regulations and laws, as well as practical training through real participation in receiving consumer complaints and ensuring effective communication with consumers.
Minister Fakhro noted that what distinguishes this pioneering national youth programme, the first of its kind in the Gulf and Arab region, is the awarding of the title 'Consumer Protection Ambassador' to participants who complete the program, along with experience certificates in the field of consumer protection and training opportunities, in addition to incentive financial rewards for outstanding participants provided by the official entities sponsoring the initiative.
Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, highlighted that this national youth initiative in consumer protection represents an advanced model of integration between the Kingdom's institutions in building an aware and qualified generation of youth. She noted that what distinguishes this initiative is its combination of theoretical and practical training.
Minister Tawfiqi said that awarding the title 'Consumer Protection Ambassador' forms an important moral and professional incentive that instills discipline among youth and enhances their appreciation of their roles in building society. She underscored that the Ministry of Youth Affairs is keen to support national initiatives that reflect a spirit of innovation in preparing and qualifying youth, expressing her confidence in the ability of Bahraini youth to excel in all domains.

Court raises payout for injured diver to BD9,400

A Bahraini diver hit while crossing a road has been awarded BD9,400 after a court found his injuries and time off work justified more than the original payout. The man had been stepping into the road in Riffa when a driver failed to spot him and knocked him down. He suffered a fractured skull, broken ribs, shoulder damage, limited movement in his left arm, and ongoing dizziness. Doctors put his permanent disability at 15 per cent. Sum The Appeals Court raised the sum from the BD8,900 awarded earlier, ruling that the extent of the harm and the earnings lost during recovery called for a higher figure. The insurer, which had covered the driver's car, challenged the first ruling. It denied responsibility, claimed the amount was too high, and argued the diver bore some blame. The court dismissed all of that. The diver's lawyer, Hassan Al Amar, said his client was crossing the main road when he was struck by a car driven by an Asian national. Injuries A Ministry of Health report listed the injuries: a fractured bone in the forehead, a stitched head wound, bruising to the chest, cracked ribs, damage to the left knee, and a broken upper arm that left him with reduced motion and ongoing dizziness. The driver was convicted in criminal court. The diver then brought a civil case. The lower court awarded BD8,500 for physical harm and emotional distress, along with BD400 for the suffering caused to his young son. It also ordered the insurer to pay BD90 for the medical panel and BD100 in legal fees. The diver appealed, saying the award fell short.

Bahrain Pushes Experiential Tourism Talent Exchange

TDT | Manama Bahrain has called for a new chapter in Arab tourism cooperation, proposing experiential talent exchanges and unified regional travel packages at a high-level meeting in Cairo this week. The Kingdom, currently presiding over the Arab Technical Tourism Committee, presented a suite of action-oriented proposals during the committee's 13th session. Noora Al Saadoon, Director of Policy and Planning at the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), chaired the meeting and urged member states to transition from planning to implementation in cross-border tourism collaboration. Regional mobility One of Bahrain's headline proposals was the launch of joint Arab tourism packages. These integrated itineraries would enable tourists to visit multiple destinations within the region in a single trip, an effort designed to increase stays, boost spending, and strengthen the Arab world's collective appeal as a seamless travel experience. The session also tackled how to build a more resilient tourism sector amid fast-changing global travel patterns and technological disruption. Capacity-building focus Al Saadoon introduced a second major Bahraini initiative: an 'experiential learning exchange' that would allow Arab tourism professionals to gain hands-on experience across destinations and administrative institutions within the region. She said this initiative would strengthen both institutional and human capital, enabling Arab tourism entities to adapt more effectively to global demands while fostering deeper professional links across borders. Implementation next The committee's recommendations, including both Bahraini proposals, will be submitted to the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism at its upcoming session. Final approval and implementation timelines are expected to follow. With its leadership role in Cairo, Bahrain has signalled a strategic shift in Arab tourism from conceptual alignment to concrete execution.
