Rhyl Journal04-07-2025
London's V&A Museum, which is behind the new David Bowie Centre, said Rodgers has also selected a bespoke Peter Hall suit worn by Bowie during the Serious Moonlight tour for the Let's Dance album.
Photographs of Bowie, Rodgers and guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan recording Let's Dance in New York will also feature.
The David Bowie Centre will open within the museum's new East Storehouse in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in Stratford, east London, on September 13, where it will host items including costumes worn during the singer's Ziggy Stardust period.
Rodgers said: 'My creative life with David Bowie provided the greatest success of his incredible career, but our friendship was just as rewarding.
'Our bond was built on a love of the music that had both made and saved our lives.'
Rodgers produced Bowie's single Let's Dance and the 1983 album of the same name, as well as his 1993 album Black Tie White Noise, with the personal correspondence in the exhibition relating to the latter.
Brit Award-winning indie rock band The Last Dinner Party have also curated part of the exhibition, describing Bowie as a 'constant source of inspiration to us'.
Their items include Bowie's elaborate handwritten lyrics for his song Win, and notes and set lists for his 1976 Isolar tour.
The band said: 'David Bowie continues to inspire generations of artists like us to stand up for ourselves.
'It was such a thrill to explore Bowie's archive, and see first hand the process that went into his world-building and how he created a sense of community and belonging for those that felt like outcasts or alienated – something that's really important to us in our work too.'
Access to the David Bowie Centre will be free, with tickets released nearer its opening.
The David Bowie archive, which boasts more than 90,000 items, was acquired by the V&A with the help of the David Bowie Estate, the Blavatnik Family Foundation and Warner Music Group.
The centre will be spread across three zones, which will include curated displays, audio visual installations and quieter study areas, allowing visitors to view the Bowie archive on their own, from musical instruments to stage models.
Small displays will tell the stories behind the singer's albums and also look at his multi-dimensional creative approach, including unrealised projects, collaborations and influences.
The East Storehouse opened at the end of May, and features the Order An Object initiative, allowing visitors to pre-book to see an item from its entire collection.
The V&A will also open the V&A East Museum in spring 2026, in an area named East Bank.
Its main museum is in South Kensington, west London, and it also runs the Young V&A in Bethnal Green, east London.

The iconic actor played Matt Hooper in Stephen Spielberg 's three-time Oscar-winning film Jaws, which turns 50 this year. But the 77-year-old, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2010, was looking frail as he spoke in the video, which was shared on the SharkCon Instagram on Sunday. Explaining to fans that he was too ill to take the five-hour flight, he appeared visibly unwell as he addressed followers. ‌ He was wrapped up in a Jaws blanket as he spoke in to the camera. Richard said: "Hello fellow cons. I am very, very sorry to tell you that I've been diagnosed with, viral, er…What is it?" ‌ His wife, Svetlana Erokhin, spoke off-screen, confirming her husband had contracted viral bronchitis. After a few attempts, he managed to repeat his diagnosis before he continued. He explained: "I've been told by my doctors I cannot fly and I would have to fly five hours to get there. I'm terribly sorry because I had planned to be there [at SharkCon] and I had been looking forward to it, but I am unable to do so. ‌ "I don't want to get anyone else sick, and I don't want to get sicker myself. I feel terrible about not showing up and I feel worse about exposing you to this apparently very viral illness. "But there will be other times and I will make it my business to show up. I want to wish you all good luck and happiness and I want you all to feel very sorry for me, and very sorry for yourselves. "I'm in a lot of pain and that has to come first, my health. I feel very good about having the time and enough health." ‌ His wife added: "And such great fans!", with Richard agreeing: "And such great fans." She said: "We love you, we miss you all and we will see you soon." Richard added: "That's my wife saying that! She's right, she knows how to do this. So good luck, happy health, happy con–bye!" ‌ SharkCon organisers shared the video, with the caption: "A message from Richard Dreyfuss. All prepaid autographs and photo ops will be automatically refunded. It will take 5-10 business days, plus what your bank takes to process. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you." The actor was inundated with messages of support from fans, with some sharing anecdotes about the Oscar winner. Sharon Stone wrote: "Honey, feel better. The world is not good without you, then come over and give me a hug." ‌ A fan added: "My buddy was a limousine driver in NYC and his company drove a lot of stars. He said most stars ignored you and were aloof but Richard Dreyfus was the best! Always chatting with the drivers and such a cool guy. They all loved him." Actor Jake Busey, son of Gary Busey, wrote: "F***! Well, hey Rick. DAD and I are sending you love and healing energy. This is only a small hurdle you will beat. So wild. We were just watching you and Roy in jaws 3 days ago. Get well soon and feel better fast !!" Rosie O'Donnell added simply: "I love u Richard [sic]." A fan typed: "He will always be one of the great actors of his time."

Robbie Williams shares heartbreaking update on mum's health amid dementia battle

Robbie Williams spoke about his parents and his mother-in-law at a gig in Germany on his Britpop tour recently, with the former Take That member speaking about their health Former Take That member Robbie Williams has shared an update on his family, including his mother, Janet Williams and his father, Peter Williams. The singer-songwriter spoke about his parents whilst on stage at a concert recently. Robbie, 51, is touring Europe at the moment on the Britpop tour, which opened in the UK earlier this year. It included performing in Germany, where he spoke about his parents' health and his wife Ayda Field 's mother, Gwen Field. ‌ The BRIT Award winner shared last year that his mother, Janet, had been diagnosed with dementia whilst his father, Peter, was dealing with Parkinson's disease. Robbie said at the time that he was in a "different part" of his life now. ‌ As reported by the Sun, Robbie provided an update on his parents at one of his gigs, as well as speaking about his mother-in-law Gwen's health. It included him saying that Janet doesn't know who he is or where she is anymore. Robbie told the crowd at a recent concert: "My mother has dementia and she doesn't know who I am anymore." He said that Janet doesn't know "where she is" now either. ‌ Speaking about Peter, he said: "My dad has Parkinson's and he can't leave the house." Robbie recalled his father singing to him every night on stage, saying that he would "steal the show" and then return backstage for a glass of wine. According to the outlet, Robbie also spoke about his mother-in-law Gwen. It comes following the news in October last year that his wife Ayda's mother had been diagnosed with cancer once again. Ayda shared at the time that Gwen had been told that her cervical cancer "had come back and metastasized". Gwen, who fans had previously been told has Parkinson's and lupus too, later thanked her daughter, son-in-law and fans for their support. ‌ Robbie said at the concert: "My mother-in-law, who I absolutely worship and adore, has three illnesses." He then referenced lupus, cancer and Parkinson's before describing Gwen as the "most courageous lady" who is "fighting". The outlet reports that he then told the audience at the venue that it feels "very strange" to be "the grown up". Robbie added that he is "not ready for it". Robbie launched the Britpop tour in Edinburgh in May. He's since performed at venues in London, Manchester and Bath. More recently, he headed abroad and has performed in countries such as Denmark, France and Spain. If you have been affected by this story, advice and support can be found at Dementia UK. Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour shine in star-studded Wimbledon final lineup

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and Vogue's Anna Wintour lead the stars in center stage in the royal box during Sunday's Wimbledon men's final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner Nicole Kidman and Vogue editor-in-chief Dame Anna Wintour lead the glamour in the royal box at Wimbledon's men's singles final on Sunday, capturing attention as they enjoyed the hotly anticipated match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Oscar-winning actress Nicole, 58, looked as chic as ever as she modelled a crisp white blazer and shirt, with her new blonde locks styled to perfection. ‌ The actress was pictured smiling and laughing as she appeared to be in an engaged conversation with fashionista Wintour, 75, who stayed true to her iconic style with dark oversized sunglasses, a floral-embellished dress, and a bold green statement necklace. ‌ The exciting day of tennis attracted a whole host of other notable guests too, including Keira Knightley, who sat nearby Nicole and Anna alongside her husband, James Righton, who is best known as part of the Klaxons. Keira, 40, opted for a clean, belted white ensemble complemented by black sunglasses and a classic pearl necklace. Meanwhile, her husband looked suave as he matched her summer vibe in a cream double-breasted suit and tie. ‌ Seated next to the loved-up couple were Irish actors Andrew Scott, 48, and P aul Mescal, 29, who recently starred together in All of Us Strangers. Scott, famed for his roles in Fleabag and Ripley, wore a beige light suit paired with gold-rimmed sunglasses. Meanwhile, Normal People star Paul, who is also widely known for Gladiator II, added a splash of colour with a patterned tie over a white shirt and dark navy jacket. ‌ The famous friends appeared to be having a great time as they were pictured laughing together and chatting with Kiera as they watched the match between Alcaraz and Sinner. Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey also made an appearance at the Grand Finale at Wimbledon today as he was seen laughing while chatting to legend Andre Agassi as he walked into the Royal Box. ‌ The How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days star, 55, was all smiles as he lapped up the sunshine centre court while dressed in a suave white three-piece suit complete with a green patterned tie. Matthew was joined by acting royalty John Lithgow as he took his seat at the event. Among the royal attendees were Peep Show's Sophie Winkleman and her husband, Lord Frederick Windsor, the latter being a son of Prince Michael of Kent. ‌ Sophie, who is officially styled as Lady Frederick, looked elegant as she modelled a vibrant green sleeveless printed dress as they arrived for the day's matches. Elsewhere, Kensington Palace confirmed the Prince and Princess of Wales would also attend the final. ‌ Kate Middleton, 43, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, received a standing ovation on Saturday when she presented the women's singles trophy to Iga Swiatek, highlighting her continuing support for the tournament. On Sunday, Kate looked gorgeous in a royal blue dress as she attended the Wimbledon final with her husband, Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Last year, Kate presented the Wimbledon men's final trophy to Alcaraz in her second public engagement since she announced her cancer diagnosis. ‌ And it was another scorcher today for attendees as temperatures climbed to 27°C in southwest London as excitement built for the match that would close out two weeks of thrilling tennis action. The royal box was full of excitement as it set the scene for a memorable finale between Spain's defending champion Alcaraz and Italy's world number one Sinner.
