Nile Rodgers to guest-curate display at new David Bowie Centre
Photographs of Bowie, Rodgers and guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan recording Let's Dance in New York will also feature.
The David Bowie Centre will open within the museum's new East Storehouse in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in Stratford, east London, on September 13, where it will host items including costumes worn during the singer's Ziggy Stardust period.
Rodgers said: 'My creative life with David Bowie provided the greatest success of his incredible career, but our friendship was just as rewarding.
'Our bond was built on a love of the music that had both made and saved our lives.'
Rodgers produced Bowie's single Let's Dance and the 1983 album of the same name, as well as his 1993 album Black Tie White Noise, with the personal correspondence in the exhibition relating to the latter.
Brit Award-winning indie rock band The Last Dinner Party have also curated part of the exhibition, describing Bowie as a 'constant source of inspiration to us'.
Their items include Bowie's elaborate handwritten lyrics for his song Win, and notes and set lists for his 1976 Isolar tour.
The band said: 'David Bowie continues to inspire generations of artists like us to stand up for ourselves.
'It was such a thrill to explore Bowie's archive, and see first hand the process that went into his world-building and how he created a sense of community and belonging for those that felt like outcasts or alienated – something that's really important to us in our work too.'
Access to the David Bowie Centre will be free, with tickets released nearer its opening.
The David Bowie archive, which boasts more than 90,000 items, was acquired by the V&A with the help of the David Bowie Estate, the Blavatnik Family Foundation and Warner Music Group.
The centre will be spread across three zones, which will include curated displays, audio visual installations and quieter study areas, allowing visitors to view the Bowie archive on their own, from musical instruments to stage models.
Small displays will tell the stories behind the singer's albums and also look at his multi-dimensional creative approach, including unrealised projects, collaborations and influences.
The East Storehouse opened at the end of May, and features the Order An Object initiative, allowing visitors to pre-book to see an item from its entire collection.
The V&A will also open the V&A East Museum in spring 2026, in an area named East Bank.
Its main museum is in South Kensington, west London, and it also runs the Young V&A in Bethnal Green, east London.

His wife, Svetlana Erokhin, spoke off-screen, confirming her husband had contracted viral bronchitis. After a few attempts, he managed to repeat his diagnosis before he continued. He explained: "I've been told by my doctors I cannot fly and I would have to fly five hours to get there. I'm terribly sorry because I had planned to be there [at SharkCon] and I had been looking forward to it, but I am unable to do so. "I don't want to get anyone else sick, and I don't want to get sicker myself. I feel terrible about not showing up and I feel worse about exposing you to this apparently very viral illness. "But there will be other times and I will make it my business to show up. I want to wish you all good luck and happiness and I want you all to feel very sorry for me, and very sorry for yourselves. "I'm in a lot of pain and that has to come first, my health. I feel very good about having the time and enough health." His wife added: "And such great fans!", with Richard agreeing: "And such great fans." She said: "We love you, we miss you all and we will see you soon." Richard added: "That's my wife saying that! She's right, she knows how to do this. So good luck, happy health, happy con–bye!" SharkCon organisers shared the video, with the caption: "A message from Richard Dreyfuss. All prepaid autographs and photo ops will be automatically refunded. It will take 5-10 business days, plus what your bank takes to process. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you." The actor was inundated with messages of support from fans, with some sharing anecdotes about the Oscar winner. Sharon Stone wrote: "Honey, feel better. The world is not good without you, then come over and give me a hug." A fan added: "My buddy was a limousine driver in NYC and his company drove a lot of stars. Robbie Williams shares heartbreaking update on mum's health amid dementia battle
Robbie Williams spoke about his parents and his mother-in-law at a gig in Germany on his Britpop tour recently, with the former Take That member speaking about their health Former Take That member Robbie Williams has shared an update on his family, including his mother, Janet Williams and his father, Peter Williams. The singer-songwriter spoke about his parents whilst on stage at a concert recently. Robbie, 51, is touring Europe at the moment on the Britpop tour, which opened in the UK earlier this year. It included performing in Germany, where he spoke about his parents' health and his wife Ayda Field 's mother, Gwen Field. The BRIT Award winner shared last year that his mother, Janet, had been diagnosed with dementia whilst his father, Peter, was dealing with Parkinson's disease. Robbie said at the time that he was in a "different part" of his life now. As reported by the Sun, Robbie provided an update on his parents at one of his gigs, as well as speaking about his mother-in-law Gwen's health. It included him saying that Janet doesn't know who he is or where she is anymore. Robbie told the crowd at a recent concert: "My mother has dementia and she doesn't know who I am anymore." He said that Janet doesn't know "where she is" now either. Speaking about Peter, he said: "My dad has Parkinson's and he can't leave the house." Robbie recalled his father singing to him every night on stage, saying that he would "steal the show" and then return backstage for a glass of wine. According to the outlet, Robbie also spoke about his mother-in-law Gwen. It comes following the news in October last year that his wife Ayda's mother had been diagnosed with cancer once again. Ayda shared at the time that Gwen had been told that her cervical cancer "had come back and metastasized".
