Earlier, expressing his condolences for the victims of the Sigachi Pharma Factory explosion, Congress MP Mallu Ravi said that the 'unfortunate' incident took place due to a 'chemical reaction' in the pharma factory.
'It is a very unfortunate incident due to the chemical reaction in the pharma factory. CM has announced to give Rs 1 crore to each deceased family,' Mallu Ravi told ANI.
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the explosion at the Sigachi Pharma chemical factory in Telangana's Sangareddy district.
The Prime Minister also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakhs for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief G. Kishan Reddy offered full support to the State government in the relief operations following the blast at a chemical factory in Telangana's Sangareddy, which killed at least 34 people and injured many. 'NDRF, Police and other agencies are engaged in relief operations...Central financial assistance of Rs 2 lakhs each will be given to families of the deceased persons and Rs 50,000 to the injured,' Kishan Reddy told reporters here.
'The BJP never does politics on such issues. We will fully cooperate in relief activities... The state government should take all steps to prevent such accidents,' Reddy said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief over the blast. 'Saddened by the tragic accident in a chemical factory in Sangareddy, Telangana. The NDRF team rushed to the spot immediately and is continuing the rescue operation along with the local administration,' Amit Shah said in a post on X.
'My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the swift recovery of those injured,' Shah added. (ANI)

MoD clears projects worth Rs 1.05 lakh cr, including QRSAM, MCMVs and electronic warfare systems
The approvals include a wide range of systems. The statement by the ministry said that among them is the procurement of surface-to-air missiles that will strengthen India's layered defence against threats from enemy aircraft, drones and missiles. In its first meeting since Operation Sindoor, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved a series of 10 capital acquisition proposals under the 'Acceptance of Necessity' (AoN) route, the first step in the defence procurement process. The duration of the procurement varies from case-to-case basis. The clearances cover the tri-services with a focus on enhancing mobility, firepower, logistics and maritime security. New Delhi: Projects worth Rs 1.05 lakh crore for a wide array of military systems, including quick-range surface-to-air missiles (QRSAM), mine countermeasure vessels (MCMVs), electronic warfare (EW) systems, armoured recovery vehicles, naval moored mines and a tri-services logistics platforms were cleared by the defence ministry on Thursday. Sources said the surface-to-air missiles are the indigenously developed QRSAM (Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile) systems by DRDO, with the Army Air Defence (AAD) set to receive systems worth over Rs 30,000 crore. 'With an operational range of around 30 kilometres, the system is capable of detecting, tracking and engaging targets even while in motion and is capable of launching missiles during brief stops. This mobility allows it to provide air defence cover to advancing military units without the need for long setup times,' explained sources. The Navy received a significant portion of the approvals, including Mine Countermeasure Vessels (MCMVs) which are specialised ships designed to detect and neutralise sea mines, ensuring safe navigation for both military and commercial vessels. To further counter such threats, moored mines, which sources described as underwater explosives anchored to the seabed to block enemy access to critical maritime areas, were also cleared. DRDO has developed a Processor Based Moored Mine (PBMM) which is capable of detecting and destroying surface and sub-surface threats by the acoustic/pressure influence anomaly generated by targets passing in proximity. Also cleared by the ministry was the Super Rapid Gun Mount, a naval artillery system that can target both aerial and surface threats, and Submersible Autonomous Vessels—unmanned platforms that conduct undersea surveillance, mine detection, and anti-submarine operations with minimal risk to personnel. For the Army, the DAC also approved Armoured Recovery Vehicles used to tow and repair damaged tanks and heavy vehicles in the field, vital for maintaining mobility in combat zones. New Electronic Warfare systems were also cleared, which will help the Armed Forces detect, disrupt and shield against hostile communications and radar, a key advantage in contemporary high-tech warfare. A major tri-services system cleared under this package is the Integrated Common Inventory Management System (ICIMS), a unified logistics platform aimed at streamlining the storage and movement of critical supplies across the Army, Navy and Air Force. The system is expected to cut redundancy and improve supply chain efficiency. The ministry in its statement clearly said that these systems were approved under 'Buy' (Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured), a category under the Defence Acquisition Procedure that prioritises the acquisition of defence equipment designed, developed and produced within India. Congress alleges irregularities in BMC's Rs 2,368-crore tender for cleaning up Deonar landfill
Alleging irregularities in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s Rs 2,368-crore tender for cleaning waste piles from the Deonar landfill through bioremediation, Congress MLA Nana Patole on Thursday said two companies have been kept out of the tender to pick a favourite company. Raising the Point of Propriety in the Assembly, Patole said while hundreds of acres of land have been given to Adani in Dharavi for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP), the BMC has been forced to bear the burden of Rs 2,368 crore to clear the Deonar dumping ground for Adani to shift ineligible Dharavi residents to Deonar. He said 'there was a gang war in the state cabinet over the project' and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis must clarify on it. 'In Dharavi, 311 acres of land is being given to Adani but the BMC is going to clean up the Deonar dumping ground for Adani. The BMC is already on way to becoming bankrupt but it is spending Rs 2,368 crore for Adani. Nearly 50,000 ineligible residents of Dharavi are going to be shifted to Deonar on rental housing basis. The BMC is going to impose a garbage collection fee from Mumbaikars to make up for this spending. This is nothing but a loot of Mumbaikars and people of the state,' Patole said. The BMC has extended its deadline for the Rs 2,368 crore tender to appoint a contractor to carry out bioremediation of 185 lakh tonnes of waste and reclaim 110 hectares of land at the Deonar site over a period of three years. Bioremediation is a process involving treating garbage with the help of natural elements like air, sunlight, and microorganisms. Over time, as the biodegradable waste decomposes, the remaining non-biodegradable extracts are either recycled or treated artificially. According to civic data, of the 1.85 crore metric tonnes of waste which is currently stacked at the site, nearly 48 per cent comprises construction debris, 41 per cent is inert waste while 10 per cent is accounted for by dry, miscellaneous waste.
