The Hug Mocchi body pillow boasts a design that lets you find a comfortable position no matter how you sleep, with a unique stuffing method that allows you to adjust the filling to your liking. Over 200,000 of these pillows have been sold, and sales look ready to skyrocket yet again, with a new tie-up range featuring some of our favourite Sanrio characters.
For this collaboration, Hello Kitty, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll are joining in, and each pillow is carefully designed to reflect the unique traits of each character.

Hello Kitty becomes a suntanned beach babe for new magazine freebies in Japan
Kitty chan enjoys a hot girl summer for a limited time. Hello Kitty is always hard at work throughout the year, jumping from one collaboration to the next and earning herself the unofficial title of hardest-working cat in Japan. Now, the beloved Sanrio character is combining work with play for a new appearance with sweet magazine, where she can be seen showing off her suntan in a colourful bikini. The suntanned, or 'sun-kissed', Hello Kitty is said to have the aesthetic of a 'Heisei gal' or 'Heisei gyaru' as it's known in Japanese. This term refers to the fashion subculture that flourished in Japan during the Heisei era (1989–2019), where young women — and sometimes men — rebelled against traditional beauty norms with flashy nail art, micro miniskirts, bleached or lightened hair, and suntanned skin. Hello Kitty keeps the Heisei gal aesthetic to a minimum for maximum appeal here, giving hot girl beach vibes to a collection of bonus items that come free with the regular and special editions of the sweet issue released on 11 July. Those who purchase the regular edition for 1,670 yen (US$11.31) will receive the 'Sun-Kissed Hello Kitty Plush Pouch Charm & Three-Piece Sticker Set', which contains the two items below. For fans of suntanned Kitty-chan, this is an irresistible, deluxe combo you won't find anywhere else, with the star item being the adorable plush pouch shaped like her face, complete with suntan. A hibiscus accessory adds extra colour to her summer look while amping up the kawaii factor, and it even comes with a pink carabiner and phone attachment so you can attach the pouch directly to your bag or smartphone. The plush pouch is wonderfully fluffy, super soft to the touch and large enough to sit in your palm, making it quite the statement item. ▼ Kitty chan might be enjoying a beach vacation but she's still hard at work, holding on to your small items for you. Moving on to the stickers, there are three in the set, each featuring a suntanned Hello Kitty. In one sticker she's sporting what looks to be a frangipani, in another she's walking with a surfboard under her arm, and in the other she's wearing heart-shaped sunglasses and a frilly white bikini, with three bows on her head and a drink by her side with a bow-adorned straw. The stickers have a sparkly, holographic sheen that's perfect for blinging out your smartphone, just like the gyaru did with their flip phones back in the day. Lovers of the gyaru look will fall in love with these items, but there's one more product to collect — the 'Sun-Kissed Hello Kitty Jumbo Bikini Tote', which comes with the special edition of the magazine for 1,720 yen. This is a total eye-catcher, with a bold print of Hello Kitty in a bikini with a surfboard in hand — an image that's impossible to ignore. Measuring in at approximately 41 centimetres (16 inches) in length and 44 centimetres in width, the bag is made from a high-quality material that's delightfully soft to touch. It also has a wide gusset and surprisingly large capacity that can easily fit a few A4-sized notebooks or even a laptop. ▼ You can fit three two-litre (67.6-ounce) bottles in there as well. There are no fastening clasps to get in the way so you have easy access to the contents, making it especially useful for holding beach towels, swimsuits, and other beach necessities. Simply carrying it around will make you start dreaming of summer holidays, filling you with a wanderlust for seaside getaways. The only problem is deciding which items to choose, but with the cost of both magazines totaling 3,390 yen, Hello Kitty fans can easily purchase both, for the ultimate in suntanned Sanrio cuteness. TeamLab opening amazing outdoor art exhibit at one of Japan's more uniquely beautiful gardens
By Casey Baseel, SoraNews24 Mifuneyama Rakuen is a fascinating place. 180 years ago, the local samurai lord commissioned a garden to be created near the foot of Mt Mifuneyama in the town of Takeo, Saga Prefecture, but rather than being a closed-off green space, the garden's borders blend seamlessly into the surrounding forest and mountain trails, resulting in the natural and man-made beauty mixing and complementing each other. As such, it's hard to think of a more fitting venue for the artists of TeamLab, who use digital techniques and colorful illumination to craft installations that speak to visitors on a primordial, emotional level. Opening later this month is A Forest Where Gods Live, TeamLab's annual nighttime exhibition held at Mifuneyama Rakuen. Now in its 11th year, the event invites visitors to stroll though the grounds after sundown and experience a number of innovative and breathtaking works of art. Drawing on the Water Surface Created by the Dance of Koi and Boats, for example, turns the surface of Mifuneyama Rakuen Pond into an interactive canvas, projecting koi made of light onto the water. These digital fish have no predetermined paths, but instead react to each other and the boats the skim across the lake, leaving trails of color behind them to create an ever-changing design. Mifuneyama Rakuen's azalea field dates back to the garden's opening in 1845. For the Life is Continuous Light installation, each bush has its own source of light that shines and fades, as though the plants are taking deep breaths. As visitors walk by, their colors change and spread out to other azaleas in the array. The light from the azaleas also resonates with Mt Mifuneyama itself, which stands beyond them and responds visually to what's happening in Life is Continuous Light. The forest's cherry and maple groves will also have reactive illuminations, which are sure to be enchanting whether you're walking beneath the branches or viewing the woods from above. And while this might look like a waterfall… …it's actually a digital projection of light doing an amazing job of recreating the flow of cascading liquid. This is just a portion of what TeamLab has planned for A Forest Where Gods Live, and it's sure to be an unforgettable way to spend a night. Tickets are priced at 1,800 yen for adults and can be reserved online through the TeamLab website here. The event opens on July 18 and runs until November 3, so even if you can't make it this summer, you can double up with two TeamLab events this fall. Haikyu!! teams up with Sendai souvenir favorites Hagi no Tsuki and zunda in an ace collaboration
The popular volleyball anime and famous Sendai confectionaries serve up a winning combination in specially created commemorative package designs. Volleyball manga/anime Haikyu!! largely takes place at the fictional Karasuno High School and other locations in Japan's northeastern Miyagi Prefecture, for which the city of Sendai serves as both prefectural and regional capital. This special connection has led to a limited-time campaign of sweetest proportions that will take place August 14 through 24 throughout JR Sendai Station. Kasho Sanzen's Hagi no Tsuki ('bush clover moon') is probably the most famous food souvenir from Sendai. It's a delicious yellow sponge cake filled with a custard cream in the shape of the moon, and it's one of our absolute favorite regional sweet treats in all of Japan. During the Haikyu!! campaign, you can purchase a box of Hagi no Tsuki featuring a gorgeous new package illustration with character Kei Tsukishima, an apt choice given that his name also contains the kanji for 'moon.' ▼ A box of five Hagi no Tsuki for 1,600 yen (US$10.86) There will be other merchandise featuring Kei illustrations as well, including acrylic stands, tin badges, stickers, postcards, and clear files. Meanwhile, another of Sendai's most famous treats is Zunda Saryo's zundamochi, which is soft mochi filled with mashed and sweetened edamame paste. It may sound like an odd concoction to anyone not familiar with eating edamame as dessert, but trust us–it's extremely satisfying. A new illustration of character Toru Oikawa will also appear on Zunda Saryo's packaging for the campaign, likely playing off the aqua-green color of his school's uniform and the color of edamame. ▼ A box of eight zundamochi for 1,400 yen Never fear, because Toru's also scored his own lineup of special merchandise featuring the new illustration. By the way, anyone who purchases the collaborative Hagi no Tsuki or zundamochi will walk away with their very own stylish bag that showcases their support of both Haikyu!! and Miyagi. That's also not the end of it, because Zunda Saryo is particularly famous for its zunda shake–a creamy, granular creation of sweetened edamame flavor. If you order a tall-sized zunda shake during the promotion, you'll receive a bonus straw tag of Toru in relaxation mode. ▼ Tall-sized zunda shake for 630 yen This illustration also comes with its own lineup of special merchandise. Visitors can find the collaborative Haikyu!! x Hagi no Tsuki and zundamochi offerings at a small pop-up shop outside of the 3rd-floor JR Sendai Station Ticket Office between 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and the zunda shake at three different locations within the station, including one on the 3rd floor. Kasho Sanzen's online shop will also sell the special boxes of Hagi no Tsuki and zundamochi after in-person sales conclude between August 25 and September 3. Miyagi Prefecture in general has lots of famous regional foods from gyutan (grilled cow tongue) to oysters, so you might consider taking a small gastronomic tour of the area during your visit north.
