Pahang Mufti Prof Datuk Dr Asmadi Mohamed Naim emphasised the importance of verifying the legitimacy of such programmes, particularly those incorporating metaphysical elements not aligned with authentic Islamic teachings.
He highlighted that the Sufism of Ahl al-Sunnah Wal Jamaah, grounded in the Quran, Sunnah, and scholarly tradition, remains the trusted path for spiritual fulfilment.
'The psychospiritual approach in Sufism, which includes practices such as 'tazkiyah al-nafs', 'zikr', 'muraqabah', and understanding spiritual stations, provides a balanced solution to modern spiritual emptiness,' he said in a statement.
Dr Asmadi added that this method not only protects faith but also cultivates humility and proper devotion to Allah SWT. - Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) – The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) today handed over the national flag to the Malaysian contingent, symbolising their send-off to the 16th World Scout Moot 2025, which will take place in Portugal from July 24 to Aug 3. 'This aligns with our aspiration to nurture a younger generation that is ready to face an increasingly complex future,' he told reporters after the flag handover ceremony here today. Mohd Zin said this year's Malaysian contingent comprises 19 participants, including Rover Scouts and management team members, making it the country's largest-ever delegation in the history of the World Scout Moot. He also expressed appreciation to all parties involved — including parents, sponsors, and state scout associations — for supporting Malaysia's mission to Portugal. 'They are expected to be agents of change and to share the knowledge and experiences gained for the betterment of society and the nation,' he added. Organised every four years by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM), the programme gathers more than 8,000 Rover and adult Scouts from 100 countries and is designed specifically for youth aged 18 to 25. The 16th edition will take place across several key locations including Lisbon, Ovar, and Porto, with a focus on leadership development, cultural exchange, community engagement, and character building. Following the opening ceremony in Lisbon, participants will take part in the 'Path' — a project-based initiative covering community work, environment, adventure and cultural exploration aimed at immersing themselves in Portuguese identity.

KOTA BHARU, July 13 (Bernama) -- Behind the routine sound of an emergency call ringing lies a harsh, often overlooked reality: every fake call isn't a harmless prank - it can mean the difference between saving a life and losing one. Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Farhan Sufyan Borhan said that although Malaysia's emergency response system has become increasingly sophisticated through the Malaysian Emergency Response Services (MERS) 999, fake and prank calls continue to pose a serious challenge, often disrupting critical rescue operations. 'Fake calls occur when the caller provides a full address, but upon arrival, no real incident has taken place. Prank calls, on the other hand, involve the caller remaining silent, making jokes, or merely seeking attention. The key difference is that prank calls are usually filtered by Telekom Malaysia (TM) before they reach us,' he told Bernama recently. He also recalled his experience before the implementation of MERS 999, when the fire department had to bear the cost of every incoming call. 'Some people called because they were broken-hearted, others used public phones just to make jokes. Back then, it was the fire department that had to foot the phone bill,' he said. Now, with the MERS 999 system operated free of charge by TM, every emergency call undergoes a preliminary screening process. Additionally, caller details such as name and location are recorded to help expedite response times. 'By the time MERS 999 connects the call to us, the nearest fire station has already received the 'call sheet' and is preparing to deploy. However, we still need to ask the caller for more details, such as the type of fire or the condition of the victim, so the commander can better plan the operation. He added that the MERS 999 system is operated simultaneously by three call centres located in Cheras, Melaka, and Kuching in Sarawak. 'If one centre is busy, the call is automatically redirected to another without affecting response time,' he said.

No power, broken toilets: MARA approves RM1.15m for Kubang Pasu MRSM repairs after parents complain (VIDEO)
ALOR SETAR, July 13 — Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has approved an allocation of RM1.15 million to completely repair the Kubang Pasu MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) in Jitra this year. Its chairman, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said, RM800,000 was allocated for the upgrade of equipment for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning, and that repairs would include upgrades to furniture in the academic block, waterproofing, courtyards, walkways and recreational areas as well as sports courts. 'RM180,000 is allocated for maintenance of the dormitories and student facilities, ceilings, toilets, closets, water tanks, food court and pest control as well as a UPS Server system costing RM50,000. 'Also, RM70,000 is allocated for electrical maintenance and basic amenities and RM50,000 for the maintenance of teachers' quarters,' he posted on Facebook yesterday. He said he had visited Kubang Pasu MRSM today and ensured immediate action would be taken after receiving a lot of social media comments from parents urging him to visit the junior college, as well as feedback on the lack of electricity supply and damaged facilities in the dormitories. He stressed that the junior college management should expedite the repairs for the comfort of students and teachers, adding that MARA's senior management would continue to monitor to ensure all approved projects would truly benefit the Kubang Pasu MRSM's students and staff. — Bernama
