Is Dark Winds season 4 happing? Everything we know so far
AMC's Dark Winds has captivated audiences with its gripping neo-noir storytelling, rich Navajo cultural backdrop, and stellar performances. Following the success of its third season, fans are eager to know: Is Dark Winds Season 4 happening? In this, we dive into the confirmation status, release date speculation, cast updates, and potential plot details for the upcoming season. Is Dark Winds Season 4 Confirmed?
Yes, Dark Winds Season 4 is officially happening! AMC announced the renewal in February 2025, ahead of the Season 3 premiere on March 9, 2025. Dark Winds Season 4 Release Date Speculation
While AMC has not announced an exact premiere date, the network has confirmed that Dark Winds Season 4 will debut in 2026. Given that Season 4 filming began in March 2025, a release in late 2026—potentially between July and September—is likely, aligning with AMC's typical post-production timeline of 4–6 months. However, an earlier release in mid-2026 is possible if production wraps efficiently. Dark Winds Season 4 Expected Cast
The core cast is expected to return, continuing the stories of the Navajo Tribal Police officers and their allies. Here's who to expect: Zahn McClarnon as Lt. Joe Leaphorn, the seasoned officer haunted by his past. McClarnon will also make his directorial debut in Season 4, helming the first episode.
Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chee, Leaphorn's deputy navigating his own personal and professional challenges.
Jessica Matten as Bernadette Manuelito, now with the Border Patrol but likely to reconnect with Leaphorn and Chee.
Deanna Allison as Emma Leaphorn, Joe's supportive wife. Dark Winds Season 4 Potential Plot
As Season 3 is still unfolding (with its finale airing in April 2025), specific plot details for Season 4 remain scarce. However, based on the show's trajectory and source material, we can speculate on key elements:
New Case for the Tribal Police: Each season of Dark Winds introduces a central mystery, often drawn from Tony Hillerman's Leaphorn & Chee novels. Season 4 is expected to feature a fresh case, potentially inspired by the novel The Dark Wind , which involves a drug-smuggling plane crash, or another book from the 27-volume series (including Anne Hillerman's contributions).
Leaphorn's Inner Struggles: Season 3 sees Joe Leaphorn grappling with guilt over his actions in Season 2, particularly his indirect killing of BJ Vines. This trauma, manifesting as a creature from Navajo folklore, may continue to haunt him, testing his moral and professional resolve.
Chee's Journey: Jim Chee's reluctant return to the Navajo reservation in Season 3 sets the stage for further exploration of his identity and future. He may face decisions about staying or leaving again, especially after his emotional goodbye kiss with Bernadette in Season 2.

Sullivan's Crossing Season 3 Finale Ends With a Jaw-Dropping Arrival — Who Is Liam?
It's a good thing Sullivan's Crossing has been renewed for Season 4, because our girl Maggie has some serious explaining to do. The show's third season finale, which aired Wednesday on The CW, ends with another attractive stranger coming to town. What's out of the ordinary about that, you ask? Nothing, except that this particular attractive stranger (played by Marcus Rosner) introduces himself as Liam — Maggie's husband. She had previously referred to Liam as merely a 'summer fling,' which clearly downplayed the depth of their legal, wedded relationship. More from TVLine Sullivan's Crossing Season 4 Picked Up by The CW Elizabeth Tulloch Regrets Missing Krypto on Superman & Lois: 'I Was So Bummed!' (Watch Interview) Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent Sets Fall Premiere Date on The CW There would never be a 'good' time for Maggie's estranged husband to show up, but his arrival at this juncture in her life feels particularly ill-timed. Not only is she finally thriving in her career again, having just performed a successful surgery on Edna's brain tumor, but even her relationship with Cal is back on track. Sadly, life has decided to throw yet another wrench into their happy ending — this time by the name of Liam. So, what's the deal with this guy? Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until Season 4 to get any concrete answers. Is it 2026 yet? Other finale developments worth discussing… * Sully decides to throw caution to the wind — not to mention finally release some of the ghosts of his past — and visit Ireland with Helen. It's an 'extended' trip, but we're fairly confident that a time jump will bring him back to town sooner than later. After all, there's no Sullivan's Crossing without Sully, right? … Right? * Maggie and Cal aren't the only couple at a crossroads. Marriage has been a hot-button issue for Rafe and Sydney (he wants it, she doesn't), and it looks like it could finally lead to a breakup. He doesn't explicitly end things in the finale, but you can tell that he isn't hopeful about the future of their relationship. As we begin the long wait for Season 4, let's talk about what happens next: Why do you think Maggie married Liam, and what could this mean for her future with Cal? Exactly how long will Sully be away? And if this is the end of Sydney and Rafe, will you be disappointed? Grade the finale and season below, then drop a comment with your thoughts. THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY Scores Season 3 Renewal, Releases Synopsis and New Showrunner Info
The Walking Dead: Dead City ended its second season with a disheartening turn of events in more ways than one. The series killed off my homie Bruegel, Herschel betrayed his own mama to be with the Dama, and Maggie still couldn't bring herself to just go ahead and kill Negan. Like girl, either kill the man or be his friend, stop this back and forth! Maggie, Negan, and Armstrong decide to stay in NYC as New Babylon takes over and gains control. It felt inevitable, so it is not shocking that AMC is renewing The Walking Dead: Dead City for a third season. Maggie needs to somehow win her son back over, but that's going to be hard. He's deeply brainwashed by Dama and upset with his mom for not killing Negan. I assume the Bricks is just left to its own devices at this point. Meanwhile, Negan is back to having pretty much nothing and no one after losing all of his men and power in that final battle. RELATED ARTICLE What Happens to Maggie and Negan in THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY Season 2 Finale? He's reeling over the death of Ginny and for some reason isn't wanting to be with his wife and son in another locale. I will never understand that man. And Armstrong is no longer fully on board with New Babylon's actions, which spells eventual trouble for him. There's a lot to wrap up in The Walking Dead: Dead City season three, whenever it arrives. For now, we already have a brief synopsis for season three: In season three, Maggie and Negan finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city? Y'all. This synopsis is wild. I would have never thought these two would build a community as co-leaders, especially in a wild place like Manhattan. Who will the residents be? Will some of the Bricks people live there? How are they going to do this with New Babylon all over the place? Who knows. We do know that Seth Hoffman will be Dead City's new showrunner, replacing Eli Jorné. It's not totally clear why Jorné is leaving the series but Hoffman was responsible for some great episodes of the flagship series like 'Too Far Gone.' So I'm confident that he will take Maggie and Negan's story to a new level. 'We're thankful to Eli Jorné for two seasons of Dead City that took the story of these iconic characters in exciting new directions and broadened this thriving Universe by introducing a new corner of the walker apocalypse,' said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. 'As we continue to create new stories for a passionate TWD fanbase, we're delighted to have a seasoned Walking Dead veteran like Seth Hoffman at the helm of a new season, alongside the remarkable Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, that will bring new adversaries and alliances and push the boundaries of Maggie and Negan's conflicted relationship.' And it seems we won't have to wait too long for another season. Production is set to begin in Boston this fall. Before we know it, we will be back in the New York groove. Solve the daily Crossword
