Tesla opens shop at BKC; right city, right state: CM
2
Mumbai : Tesla's long awaited India debut finally took place with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurating its showroom in Mumbai on Tuesday. The Elon Musk-led car maker unveiled its Model Y compact all-electric SUV at its 'Experience Centre' in Bandra-Kurla Complex with the CM describing it as the "right city and the right state" for the launch.
"Mumbai stands for innovation and sustainability. In 2015, when I went to the US, I had my first ride in a Tesla, and then I thought we need such a vehicle for mobility in India. But it took 10 years for it to come to India. But we are very happy that finally you are here. They will have one of their best markets in India," Fadnavis said. He was accompanied by transport minister Pratap Sarnaik and transport commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar.
The CM said the state's EV policy encourages manufacturing of electric vehicles. He said Maharashtra's EV policy is the best in the country and offers incentives and improved e-charging infrastructure. Tesla is also expected to set up its own charging stations in the city. "On a single charge, you can travel over 500 km and this will reduce range anxiety," he added.

Tesla announced that it will set up four charging stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. "These will come up in Lower Parel, BKC, Thane and Navi Mumbai, with 16 superchargers and 16 destination chargers. Each supercharger gives a range of 267 km for just 15-minute charging," said Tesla regional director Isabel Fan.
Maharashtra industries minister Uday Samant told the state assembly on Tuesday that Tesla had chosen Maharashtra over other states in the country to set up its first showroom because it was a preferred destination for industry on the global map."They chose India and then Maharashtra. This once again proves that Maharashtra is the top choice," said Samant. He was replying to a debate on industry and Marathi language in the assembly.

Ghosted: Elon Musk changed his phone number after fight with Trump, all messages remained unread
Elon Musk changed his phone number after his massive fallout with President Donald Trump. Elon Musk took some major steps to distance himself from the Donald Trump administration when he understood that he was at a point of no return, the way he waged his war against the president and his 'Big, Beautiful Bill'. While he unfollowed several members of the administration, he also changed his phone number to remain unreachable. Speaker Mike JohnsMon revealed on the latest episode of Pod Force One that he did not know that Elon changed his phone number and sent him a long message after the big blow-up. But the messages were going somewhere else and he never read them, Mike revealed. 'I sent him a long text message, and then his phone number changed, because after the blow-up, something happened with his,' Johnson told The New York Post's Miranda Devine. '[Later I] realized I was sending it out into the ether somewhere and he never read it, so I look forward to meeting with him in person,' the Speaker said. Elon Musk was reached out to through a third party, Johnson confirmed. On what irked Elon Musk so much that he went to the extent of registering a third party 'America Party', Johnson said Elon Musk got unhappy over a very short period of time. 'I mean, he generally knew what we were doing, and we talked about it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tại sao CFD tiền mã hóa có thể phù hợp với danh mục đầu tư của bạn IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo I mean, he knew for months, many months we worked on this, and I was keeping him apprised of it.' 'The final product maybe didn't meet all of his expectations in terms of what we're doing, for example, with electric vehicles and the Biden mandates and all of that,' Johnson told Devine. 'But there are other things as well.' 'But look, I let other people judge that. I've got to keep my eyes on the prize and keep going forward, and I'm trying to be a peacemaker in all of it.' 'Look, Elon is a genius,' the Speaker said. 'He does things that I can't even fathom, but one of his fields of expertise was not necessarily crafting legislation, right?' Will there ever be a patch-up? Johnson said there will not be any overnight patch-up between Trump and Musk. 'We can't fix this stuff overnight, but we have a plan to do it, and I think that's going to be pleasing to everybody who's worried about our deficit and our debt," Johnson said.

‘Why Glorify Made In China EV?' Sena MP Denounces Tesla's India Ride
Last Updated: Shiv Sena's Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized Maharashtra CM Fadnavis for attending Tesla's Mumbai showroom launch, questioning the benefit of importing taxed, made-in-China EVs. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi on Wednesday criticised the entry of electric vehicle giant Tesla's entry into Indian market saying that what's the need of celebrating the entry of a 'glorified, highly taxed EV vehicle that is made in China." She further questioned the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the launch event of Tesla's first showroom in India. While taking a jibe at the Maharashtra government over the 'great breakthrough" launch, the Rajya Sabha MP said that the presence of Fadnavis at the launch of a glorified, highly taxed EV vehicle that is made in China in India was 'cringe". She further questioned how Tesla's entry in India would contribute to India's innovation industry. 'And for Maharashtra CM to inaugurate a car showroom/dealer store makes it more cringe. What are we celebrating? Entry of a glorified, highly taxed EV vehicle that is made in China? How is it contributing to India's innovation industry? The white man complex is real," Sena MP said in a post on X. In an earlier post, Chaturvedi said that customers will pay more for a made-in-China car, and the government is claiming it as some 'great breakthrough". 'India was aiming to bring the manufacturing of Tesla cars to the country for the domestic market; however, we have been made to believe we should be happy with a first showroom with made-in-China imported cars. Whatever duty is levied, truth is customer pays more for a made in China car and leaders in power make it sound like some great breakthrough," the post read. Earlier on Tuesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray claimed that if the Centre had not debated on customs duties, the Tesla showroom in Mumbai would have opened in 2021. 'It's a good thing that an electric car showroom is being opened. If the central government had not debated the customs duty, then the showroom would have opened in 2021 only." He added that it is due to the policy for electric vehicles (EVs) made by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in 2021 that the EV companies are coming to Maharashtra. 'The EV policy that we made gives EVs major support in Maharashtra, and due to this, many companies are coming here," Thackeray said. Tesla's Entry Into Indian Market Tesla officially entered Indian market on Tuesday with the opening of its first showroom at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex. Devendra Fadnavis attended the inauguration ceremony and said that the American company chose the 'right city and state". 'This is more than just an inauguration — it's a statement that Tesla has chosen the right city and state," said the Maharashtra Chief Minister. 'It is a matter of great joy for us that Tesla has launched its first experience in India in Mumbai. Tesla is establishing a logistics and servicing system here. Four big charging stations are also being established by them. I am happy that Tesla chose Maharashtra as the state has become a leader in electric mobility. Tesla is launching its Model Y in India. Maharashtra has the most dynamic electric mobility policy. I believe Maharashtra will be a preferred destination when they decide to do manufacturing in India," he added. Tesla revealed the prices for its electric vehicles, stating that Model T's on-road price will be listed at Rs 61 lakh. The rear-wheel drive version will cost Rs 59.89 lakh.
