Moreover, in the month of September last year, synchronizing with roll out of the PMAY-G 2.0, allotment letters were distributed to 1,71,593 new beneficiaries. In the month of January this year in presence of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the government gave 50 thousand houses to the eligible beneficiaries. Continuing the tempo, another 55 thousand beneficiaries have been endowed with the gifts of pucca houses today under PMAY-G in Assam, the Chief Minister said.
Sarma moreover said that under PMAY-G scheme, since 2016, Assam received a target of building 26,11,793 houses. Out of these, till 15 May, allotment of 25,73,325 houses have been given. Out of the total allotted houses, construction of 20,13,478 houses have already been completed. The Chief Minister also said that efforts have been made to ensure that all eligible families become entitled to pucca houses and as per Awaas Plus Survey, all eligible families will be brought under PMAY-G scheme.

He also said that the distribution of 55 thousand houses today would be considered historic as the launch of Lakhimi Mistri initiative constitutes an important part of PMAY-G houses. This initiative along with empowering the women folks will help them to become self-reliant. Moreover, this initiative will help in creating a skilled pool of work forces in the state.
Sarma also thanked Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for approving a target of 3,76,075 houses for Assam during financial year 2025-26 under PMAY-G from the final Awaas Plus 2018 survey list. He said that the approval would saturate the waiting list of the state and will help in realizing the vision of Prime Minister Modi that is '

' in the rural areas and will enable all the economic disadvantaged people to sleep under pucca house and live with dignity.
Sarma also reaffirmed the government's commitment to continue driving the progress for a self-reliant and prosperous Assam. He said that visible progress in rural transformation and the uplift of farmers are direct results of the government's focused initiatives of rural development. He on the occasion also said that his government has set a 100 per cent paddy procurement target and is on course to achieve it by June this year. He also thanked the Prime Minister and Union Agriculture Minister for all their help, which enabled Assam to scale new heights in rural development.

Shibu Soren led the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for nearly four decades. Shibu Soren was born in the Ramgarh district (which was then part of Bihar) in 1944 and belonged to the Santhal community. He was married to Roopi Kisku and had three sons - Durga Soren, Hemant Soren, and Basant Soren, and a daughter - Anjali Soren. The veteran leader was at the forefront of the movement for a separate Jharkhand state - which led to its formation in 2000.

Pahalgam Attack Victim's Father Writes To PM Modi, Demands Compensation, Martyr Status
Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh): Sanjay Dwivedi, father of Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi, has written two letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded compensation for the families of the April 22 deadly attack victims and a grant of "martyr status". He also described AAP MP Sanjay Singh as "one of the few leaders who stand with truth", and highlighted the issues of the families of the Pahalgam terror victims in Parliament. Mr Dwivedi, while speaking to the ANI, said, "He is one of the few leaders who stands with the truth. He presented our issues in the Parliament with all his might... I hope he will stand by our demands in the future too... I have written two letters to the Prime Minister (demanding compensation for the families of the victims and for the victims to be given the 'martyr' status). This is not a matter of party politics. This is a national issue." Sanjay Singh on Sunday met the family of the Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi during his visit to Kanpur. After the meeting, he spoke to reporters and called on the Union government to grant martyr status to victims. The AAP Rajya Sabha MP stated that he had also raised the demand during the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament. Mr Singh said, "I had raised this point in the Parliament that the victims' families demand that all those who died in Pahalgam should be given the status of martyrs. Shubham's father also demands that the tragic incident that happened cannot be compensated in a lifetime, but the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and the government should definitely take the steps they can. There has been a lot of delay in that," Singh said. Shubham Dwivedi was among the 26 people killed when terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists and locals in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam. Indian armed forces carried out Operation Sindoor on May 7 to avenge the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people.
