HIMA Group continues growth path, strengthening its position as key solutions provider
HIMA Group, a leading provider of safety-related automation solutions, has continued its significant growth path in the fiscal year 2024. Revenue increased to EUR 186 million, driven largely by international expansion and an increasing focus on digital solutions.
Following an already very successful fiscal year 2023, the HIMA Group continued its growth momentum in 2024. Revenue rose by 23 percent, from EUR 151 million in 2023 to EUR 186 million in 2024. Organic growth was 12 percent in 2024.
Jörg de la Motte, CEO of HIMA Group, said, 'With the acquisition of Sella Controls and Origo Solutions in 2023 and 2024, we have brought new expertise into the company and strengthened our market position as a key solutions provider. In addition, we have further expanded our operations outside Europe to support demanding customer projects locally.'
In Europe, 24 percent of sales were generated from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, 19 percent from other EU countries, 11 percent from the United Kingdom, and 9 percent from Norway. The Asia-Pacific region contributed 19 percent to sales, followed by the Middle East and India with 12 percent and the Americas with 6 percent.
Dr. Michael Löbig, CFO of HIMA Group, said, 'The encouraging sales performance is a clear signal of the viability of our business model. We expect further sales growth in the current year, although the market environment remains challenging, particularly in Germany.'
Railway sector witnessed strong growth
In 2024, HIMA recorded substantial growth, particularly in the railway sector, with one of the reasons being new customer projects supported by Sella Controls. The railway industry now accounts for 17 percent of sales. An expanded product and solution portfolio was presented for the first time at InnoTrans 2024. It was very well received by trade visitors, particularly because of its high flexibility, easy integration, cost efficiency, and ability to promote the digital transformation of railway transport.
International expansion continues
Following the opening of a new subsidiary in Saudi Arabia in 2023, another was established in India in November 2024. In addition, new sales offices and service centers were opened in several countries. In China, for example, a new service center commenced operations in Zhanjiang to better serve customers in the southeastern part of the country. In addition, a subsidiary was opened in Colombia, and a branch is planned in Peru. Further expansion in these growth markets is planned to support large and demanding customer projects locally. In regions where the HIMA Group does not have a direct presence, the partner program has been further expanded.
'With these investments in high-growth regions, we are further expanding our customer proximity and strengthening our international position,' added Jörg de la Motte.
Investments in digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI)
The portfolio has been expanded to include new digital solutions such as cockpits for controlling safety lifecycle management, SCADA+, and safeHMI. The safeHMI, developed in partnership with DEUTA-Werke, replaces classic, hard-wired visualization solutions with secure, flexible control panels. The long-standing cooperation with security specialist genua has also been further intensified in order to strengthen the resilience of automation systems against cyber threats.
Jörg de la Motte said, 'Our strategy with a clear focus on digitalization under the motto #safetygoesdigital is paying off. With our digital cockpits for controlling safety lifecycle management, safeHMI, and SCADA+, we offer our customers real added value.'
Continuing education is also embracing digitization. With the 'Digital HIMA Academy', the company is digitizing all training processes and offering employees and customers a digital learning platform.
HIMA Group is increasingly focusing on AI-based innovations and has expanded its own innovation lab, 'himalaya', in Mannheim to accommodate this. Solutions developed here that are already in pilot use include AI-supported remote diagnosis, which detects anomalies in safety control systems at an early stage and enables proactive maintenance. The company's internal chatbot, 'Ask Paula', which specializes in functional safety, will be introduced in June 2025.
Dr. Michael Löbig said, 'AI has great potential for HIMA Group, both internally and externally. Our innovation lab, 'himalaya', is the right place to quickly identify and tap into applications and potential.'
Sustainability as a priority
'At HIMA Group, sustainability is a central component of our corporate philosophy and serves to secure the future of our company,' explains Steffen Philipp, Managing Partner of HIMA Group.
This is particularly evident in the responsible use of resources and the protection of people and the environment. To operate successfully and responsibly in the long term, HIMA pursues economic, ecological, and social goals. These include participation in sustainability initiatives, the establishment of a global CSRD team, sustainable location and trade fair concepts, as well as ideas competitions and awards for particularly successfully implemented projects.
'For every customer feedback, HIMA makes a contribution to tree planting and thus makes an active contribution to environmental protection,' adds Dr. Michael Löbig.

Sennheiser Generates €492.3 Million In Sales In 2024
The Sennheiser Group, the family-owned company behind renowned audio technology, reported sales of EUR 492.3 million in fiscal year 2024. Despite volatile market conditions, the company was able to consolidate its position in the professional audio market and drive forward key future projects with innovative solutions and strategic investments. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) amounted to €35.8 million. '2024 was a challenging year for us, as it was for many companies in our industry,' explains Co-CEO Andreas Sennheiser. The company recorded a slight decline in sales across all regions, totaling 6.6 percent compared to the previous year. 'But especially in a dynamic environment, it is crucial to remain a reliable partner.' Co-CEO Daniel Sennheiser adds: 'That's exactly what sets us apart: with reliable audio solutions, intuitive innovations, and a stable supply chain, we enable our customers to focus on what matters most.' The development of the individual sales markets varied greatly in the past year: The EMEA region was once again the strongest market in terms of sales, generating total sales of €232.1 million – a slight decline of 3.5 percent compared to the previous year. The domestic market in Germany, on the other hand, saw a slight growth of 3.5 percent. The AMERICAS region recorded a decline of 16.1 percent to EUR 150.5 million. Political and economic uncertainties in the US and a subdued consumer climate had a particularly negative impact on demand here. By contrast, the APAC region performed well: growth of 2.3 percent to EUR 109.7 million – driven by a strong market in China and new sales channels in India – enabled a stable result to be achieved. 'Our global presence really pays off in turbulent times,' explains Daniel Sennheiser. 'It allows us to respond to market developments in a differentiated manner and address them in a targeted way, for example with investments and partnerships tailored to local needs. With our regional teams, we remain close to our customers at all times and can offer them the right solutions.' In 2024, the Sennheiser Group invested a total of 48.9 million euros – around 10 percent of total sales – in research and development and in the expansion of sustainable business processes. An additional 3.1 million euros was invested in digital transformation: new backend systems and an expanded cloud architecture form the basis for the implementation of digital business models. Sennheiser invested a further 13.7 million euros in its own production sites in Germany and Romania, 12.2 million euros of which went to the plant in Wedemark near Hanover. In the Business Communication segment, the portfolio was also expanded with the new TeamConnect Collaboration Bars, which were developed specifically for hybrid meeting and learning environments. The Neumann brand enjoyed strong success in the professional recording applications segment. New product developments and the integration of advanced technologies from Merging Technologies, a leading Swiss provider of high-resolution digital audio recording systems and a pioneer in audio-over-IP, which was acquired in 2022, contributed significantly to this success. Sennheiser has also further strengthened its market presence in the mobility sector. More than 70,000 audio systems are now installed in vehicles from Cupra, smart, and Morgan Motors. A particular milestone was the launch of a smart model featuring Sennheiser technology for the Chinese market in the third quarter of 2024. In addition, the licensing business generated additional revenue. This area is set to be expanded further in the future, particularly through the immersive audio brand AMBEO. AMBEO technology is used in all business areas—on stage, in meeting rooms, in studios, and in vehicles—and will continue to open up new potential in the licensing business in the future. 80 years of Sennheiser – looking to the future In 2025, the independent family-owned company Sennheiser celebrates 80 years of pioneering audio technology and passionate engineering. Since the founding of the 'Laboratorium Wennebostel' by Dr. Ing. Fritz Sennheiser in June 1945 in Wedemark near Hanover, Sennheiser has developed into one of the world's leading providers of audio technology. 'We live and breathe audio in everything we do,' says Daniel Sennheiser. 'Our passion is to create unique sound experiences: real, unadulterated sound that you not only hear, but also feel.' Dr. Andreas Sennheiser adds: 'When we look back on our history today, it's not just about the number of years – it's about what we have learned from the past to build the future of the audio world.'

UK Fintech OpenTrade Secures £5.5M to Boost Stablecoin Yield Services
OpenTrade, a London-based fintech infrastructure provider, has closed a £5.5 million funding round, led by Notion Capital and Mercury Fund, raising its total capital to around £8.5 million since inception. The investment is earmarked to scale its build-out of real-world asset-backed stablecoin yield services across high-inflation markets in Latin America and Europe. OpenTrade embeds 'yield-as-a-service' into fintech apps, allowing users to earn interest on USD and EUR stablecoins—rates that significantly outperform traditional banking options. Fintech clients such as Criptan in Spain and Littio in Colombia now offer yields up to 9%, compared with local bank APRs of under 0.5%. Co-founders Dave Sutter, Jeff Handler, and Tom Niermann have close links to USDC's Centre consortium and hold decades of digital assets experience. They launched OpenTrade in early 2024 to address demand from emerging markets, where inflation erodes savings and dollar-denominated banking returns are negligible. The platform has since managed approximately $47 million in assets and processed nearly $200 million in transaction volume, growing at an average of 20% month-over-month. ADVERTISEMENT The round also saw participation from a16z crypto, AlbionVC, and CMCC Global, reflecting continued investor confidence. OpenTrade intends to direct the funds towards enhancing its technological capabilities, supporting growth in client-facing applications, and broadening its product suite to include a wider range of real-world asset-backed instruments. The company's timing aligns with a broader surge in stablecoin infrastructure. Globally, stablecoin transaction volumes now exceed $20 trillion annually—outpacing conventional payment systems such as Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal. For fintech firms in emerging economies, embedding stablecoin yields into everyday platforms is reshaping perceptions of crypto, transforming digital currencies from purely transactional tools into accessible savings vehicles. Argentina and Colombia exemplify this shift. Dollar accounts are rare, and where available, yields are negligible. In Colombia, dollar-denominated APRs are below 0.4%, while Littio users, through OpenTrade, attract up to 6%. Spain's Criptan offers up to 9% in EUR stablecoin returns—generating user traction by outperforming traditional savings products. Despite the rapid uptake of stablecoins, mainstream users in many regions face roadblocks: regulatory frameworks for safe yield generation have lagged behind adoption. OpenTrade bridges this gap by offering compliant real-world asset backing and embedded yield capabilities, supporting regulatory alignment while extending market reach. This funding arrives amid a regulatory pivot in Europe. The Financial Conduct Authority plans to unveil discussion papers on stablecoin issuance and custody in Q4 2025, aligning with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework. OpenTrade's growth strategy demonstrates fintechs' ambition to navigate both innovation and regulation in stablecoin infrastructure. Fintech founders view embedded stablecoin yield as essential for financial inclusion. Sutter has emphasized that stablecoins have become crypto's 'killer app' and that over a third of Latin American consumers have used them for purchases. OpenTrade is positioned as an enabler: the platform supports deposits, withdrawals, and yield generation directly within existing fintech interfaces. Investor sentiment adds context. Notion Capital's Itxaso del Palacio remarked that the $240 billion stablecoin market needs robust infrastructure. Mercury Fund's Samantha Lewis described OpenTrade as 'core financial infrastructure for the next generation of fintech'. These endorsements highlight confidence in both OpenTrade's leadership and market relevance. Looking ahead, OpenTrade aims to expand its reach over the next 12–18 months. Key areas include launching new yield products, incorporating diverse asset classes, and enhancing the user experience for fintech clients. The vision is to become the go-to partner for compliant stablecoin yield solutions, competing across developed and emerging economies where rising inflation, currency volatility, and limited access to traditional deposits persist.
