ITV viewers 'love' new LGBTQ+ sitcom with all 6 episodes free to binge
ITV viewers have applauded the new LGBTQ+ show Transaction, as the first episode aired on Tuesday.
Transaction aired as all six episodes of the new sitcom dropped on ITVX the same day, giving viewers the perfect new comedy binge for Pride Month.
The ITV2 show follows transgender supermarket worker Liv, played by comedian and writer Jordan Gray, who is hired by Pellocks supermarket to try and paper over a live PR crisis.
Liv only agrees to take on the shelf-stacking gig because her housemate Tom (Thomas Gray, no relation) has made it pretty clear he wants her to start contributing to the rent.
Manager of Pellocks supermarket Simon, played by Nick Frost in full David Brent mode, hires Liv on the spot to quell an ongoing protest outside the store in the wake of an inadvertently offensive ad campaign.
Liv uses the situation to her advantage, cracking up her fair share of pranks and shop hijinks – not to say there aren't heartfelt moments in the mix too.
Liv soon gets the hang of working the night shift – as Simon says, 'while the customer snores, we sweep up the floors' – and settles in to a workplace comedy with a real bunch of characters for co-workers.

Transaction viewers took to X as the episodes dropped on Tuesday to praise the show's comic timing and urge others to jump on the bandwagon.
@_MxMike tweeted: 'Just watched the first episode of #Transaction on ITVX. If you know Jordan Gray and her humour, you'll love this.'
@BenMorrisGill echoed: 'Watching #Transaction and while I must say, firstly, it's so funny. I'm just a little confused at why the store manager and assistant manager work only at night?'
@DoddsyKev weighed in to say they had already watched the first three episodes of the show, writing: 'Love it! Very funny and can't wait to watch the rest.'
'Well that was funny I hope it gets traction,' added @Matts_Tweeting after the first episode aired.
Gray told the Metro in an exclusive interview ahead of the show's premiere that the six-parter was years in the making. More Trending
The sitcom is written by Gray, who described her character Liv as follows: 'She's a lone wolf character but really just wants to have a family, and then she finds this little weird dysfunctional family.'
A review in the RadioTimes described the sitcom as 'sharp, surreally funny' and 'gleefully crude', adding that the show could become an ITV mainstay.
Essex-born Gray first shot to fame after reaching the finals in The Voice in 2016. She followed the competition show up with a hit live comedy Is It a Bird?

Inbetweeners star James Buckley and his wife Clair 'stalked by woman at Essex home and feared they would be violently attacked'
James Buckley and his wife Clair were 'stalked by a woman at their Essex home,' a court has heard. The Inbetweeners star, 37, and his actress wife, also 37, were allegedly 'threatened with violent acts' by 26-year-old Keavy O'Mahoney near the home they share with their two sons. Court documents read that the couple 'feared on at least two occasions that violence would be used' against them, The Sun reported. O'Mahoney, of Stanford, Bedfordshire, was arrested and charged before being bailed at Luton Magistrates' Court. She has been banned from using any electronic devices to contact James and Clair, must remain home at night, and cannot leave without being accompanied by an adult approved by social services. O'Mahoney is due to appear at Luton Crown Court on July 28. It was recently revealed that James and Clair will be soon gracing Channel 4 's screens after joining Gogglebox. In a new post shared by both James' and the show's official accounts, the thrilled couple told fans: 'Hi guys, how's it going? 'We are joining the Gogglebox family. We're going to be watching some great TV and some not so great TV. 'And you'll be able to join us on Friday on Channel 4 at 9pm.' The lovebirds - who tied the knot in 2012 and share two kids - are set to leave fans in stitches are they are well-known for their hilarious chats on their podcast At Home With The Buckleys. James and model Clair share son Harrison, 11, and nine-year-old Jude. The couple host their own YouTube series and James is thought to have made more than £1 million through the celebrity greetings website Cameo. James added: 'If we go on holiday, I get bored after the first day there because well, I've got my video games and stuff at home... If I have a holiday, I just want to spend a week at home with nothing to do. That would be my perfect holiday!' The Finders Keepers actor previously revealed that the main motivation he would have to return to his role on The Inbetweeners would be financial. He told Headliners: 'It's no secret that would be the most profitable thing I could go into right now. 'I do have children, I do have a family, I do have bills, and sometimes you've got to take that into consideration, just as a practical thing, a boring, dull, provider of a family thing. 'All that stuff I do think about and what's great is I know, if four of us boys get together — and (writers) Iain Morris and Damon Beesley — and we all have a little chat and we said 'Shall we go again?' I know it would be greenlit straight away.' Earlier in January, James admitted he 'doesn't have much drive' to be an actor as he opened up about his career. The actor, who found fame in the E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners in the late 2000s portraying character Jay Cartwright, revealed he isn't 'desperate' to take on new roles. Instead James explained during an appearance on James Martin's Saturday Kitchen on ITV, that his 'favourite thing to do is to be at home'. He said: 'I've got a film coming out next year at some point. It's called Mother's Pride, I've just done that with Martin Clunes, which was a lot of fun. 'But I'm not desperate to be an actor. I don't really have much drive, to be honest. My favourite thing to do is to be at home. It's got all my favourite people there, it's got all my stuff there.' James has also appeared on the sitcom White Gold and starred in the West End production of 2:22 A Ghost Story in 2024.

It's the ‘M3GAN' universe – and we're all about to be living in it
'Now she's at Pride Month, and it is so awesome because they're the most supportive community ever,' Davis says. When asked if the team behind the film was expecting M3GAN to become a queer icon, Williams, through laughter, quickly replies: 'No.' 'I think if we had been making her with the expectation that she would be a queer icon, she would have been dismissed by the queer community,' Williams says. 'It was like, if you just commit to the truth of it, making her feel like an authentic, real person, making all the characters real, making the world feel real, making the tone feel consistent, then you stand a better chance of creating a character that can be embraced by a community that loves a bold woman living in the truest expression of herself,' she adds. M3GAN AS A SEQUEL 'M3GAN 2.0' defies expectations once again by totally reinventing the character that made the franchise a hit. The sequel goes almost full action movie while highlighting the need for AI regulation. Two years after Gemma and her niece Cady neutralize M3GAN, they've resettled in San Francisco. Then, they learn a new robot is on the scene. A military contractor got hold of the leaked code that powered M3GAN and built a new robot: AMELIA, short for Autonomous Military Engagement Logistics and Infiltration Android. The feds put Gemma and her crew in charge of AMELIA when she, just like M3GAN, begins to go rogue. The only way to end AMELIA? Bring back M3GAN. Ivanna Sakhno, who portrays AMELIA, tells about joining the franchise as a new enemy. 'There's definitely a sense of responsibility, because you know how beloved it is by people, so you want to just do it justice,' Sakhno says. 'I do have full trust in (director) Gerard (Johnstone) and his vision, and I have to applaud him for being so open to go so far with it and being unpretentious in its craziness. He wasn't afraid to do something quite different from the first one and take a risk.' Davis also hopes audiences love the fighting scenes between M3GAN and AMELIA, as they start to see M3GAN as something other than just a villain. 'I think the funny thing about M3GAN is, yes, she's a villain, but she can also be seen as a hero. But she's also hilarious, and she's sassy, and she doesn't care what you're saying, she just says it. I think it's really fun for audiences, because they don't know what's going to happen next for her, and they can't predict it.' 'I also think there's some kinship between AMELIA and M3GAN — although there's rivalry and fear that is also felt, they see each other. They're made of the same seed. But M3GAN is that b----,' Sakhno says with a smile, before adding, 'Respectfully.' M3GAN AS A TRILOGY — AND BEYOND While a third installment of 'M3GAN' hasn't yet been greenlit, Williams, while appearing on TODAY on June 24, highlighted the fact there is a number '3' in the title of the films. 'We put a three in the first title, which was a conundrum, and it sort of means we have to be allowed to,' Williams said. 'It's already been there, it's predestined.' 'That said,' she added, 'we are dreaming of a third. We have talked about it and wondered what it would look like, and we've had some of those conversations, but we'll need to see what happens this weekend.' 'M3GAN 2.0' is projecting $10 million in its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo, but regardless of whether the franchise becomes a trilogy, the M3GAN Cinematic Universe has already begun, Williams tells 'You can take a real, deep, important theme that's hard to talk about and put it into this mixy genre, and then suddenly people are able to talk about it in a bigger way,' Williams says. 'And then doing it with 'M3GAN,' I realized, you can keep doing this.' Williams is an executive producer on 'SOULM8TE,' a 'M3GAN' spinoff set in the same universe, premiering in 2026. The details on the film are minimal, though viewers do know that it follows a man who buys an android to help cope with the loss of his wife. 'From the moment the M3GAN doll was an idea, we were kind of like, because people are people, we just know it's a matter of time before someone is like, 'What about this, but for sex?'' Williams says with a smile. 'It's not just that, obviously, it's more complicated, and I don't want to spoil anything or give too many details, but it's sort of like an R-rated adventure into this world where we get to see M3GAN technology extrapolated into a use case that we do not explore in our franchise,' she continues. Davis also calls the opportunities within the MCU 'endless.' 'Especially because of how prevalent AI is in our society, and because of how uncanny it is,' she says. 'Even with the first film, they predicted AI portraits, and then they came out — what are they predicting in this film that's going to come true?' Williams hopes that this franchise, which started as a question mark and then became a phenomenon, can spark relevant conversations about the world we're living in, or about to be. She points to the themes of the sequel — AI regulation ('not the sexiest') and parenthood — as an example. 'We feel very strongly about the fact that people need to think about these things and to talk about them more openly. And we're just hopeful that, as a result of this movie and all the other movies in the cinematic universe, people will have those conversations on the way to the car,' Williams says. 'You can talk about the things that are funny, yeah, whatever. But like later at dinner, when the giggling dies down, it's like, 'But really, what are we doing? What is our plan here? What are we going to do about these really intelligent lines of code that we've written?''

Emmerdale spoilers - Villain returns for revenge on Joe and Robert Sugden drama
Emmerdale spoilers have teased a very big week ahead on the ITV soap, as Joe Tate faces a villain in a revenge twist, while there's a double hospital dash and drama for Robert Sugden There's big twists and turns on Emmerdale next week, including a shocking return, revenge drama and danger for more than one resident. Joe Tate finally learns who's been targeting him with a harassment campaign, resulting in horrifying scenes next week. It sparks the return of a villain, with Joe possibly facing serious danger. He's not the only one, as two characters face trouble in a car incident as one of them faints behind the wheel. There's also schemes and threats as Robert Sugden takes action, while there's plenty of decisions and big moments ahead. Let's kick things off with the return of Joe's former accomplice and now nemesis, it seems, Dr Crowley. We last saw Crowley after he got dragged into Joe's schemes when he needed a new kidney. He was paying Crowley to help him find a donor and then perform the operation, which he did. What Crowley wasn't banking on though was Joel having his uncle Caleb Miligan stabbed, before being forced to remove the kidney and transplant it into Joe. With the police snooping around Crowley fled and he has not been seen since. But it seems he's out to get Joe, after weeks of harassment and he's not working alone. As the villain makes a comeback it seems he's more dangerous than ever, blackmailing Joe. As he's revealed to be behind Joe's ordeal, he demands £100,000 to be placed in the kitchen at Home Farm. Fearing Shaun is behind it, Joe sacks him leading to the character turning threatening. Joe plots to flee the village fearing he isn't safe, only to be knocked out by a shovel-wielding Shaun. That's not the worst of it though as he wakes up in a makeshift hospital room to a menacing Crowley looming over him. So what does Crowley have planned and will Joe make it out alive? Two other characters face danger next week, when Gabby's crash diet ahead of her wedding leaves her and Sarah Sugden in a bad way. Sarah is still recovering from her emergency hysterectomy when the pair go for a drive as mechanic Sarah offers to ensure Gabby's car is fine after some issues. She's trying to take her mind off things, clearly struggling and refusing to rest as suggested by the doctors. But having barely eaten for days, Gabby faints at the wheel meaning Sarah has to quickly grab the wheel to bring the car to a stop. Sarah is left in agony at having to stretch out amid her wounds from her operation. As they both end up in hospital, Sarah collapses. When joined by her grandfather Cain Dingle, an emotional Sarah admits the accident made her realise how badly she wants a family of her own so he suggests surrogacy. When Charity Dingle fears Cain is raising their granddaughter's hopes, Cain says he's determined to help her. As for Gabby, she's given the all clear but as fiancé Vinny Dingle supports her, he continues to hide his concerns over their relationship and continues to question his sexuality. Gabby's stepmother Laurel Thomas overhears Vinny talking with pal Kammy and demands a private chat. She encourages him not to marry Gabby if he's unsure about the relationship but what will he do? Finally next week, Robert Sugden causes more trouble when he avoids discussing plans for Annie's field after a deal with Moira Dingle. But when Ross Barton confronts him about the missing weed, Robert threatens to cancel the land deal with Moira, forcing Ross to back down temporarily. Kim Tate prepares to share all about her new man, and Tracy Robinson fumes at Cain over Nate's memorial. Lewis Barton gets a job at the café and proves to be a hit. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Threads.
