India's June palm oil imports jump 61% to hit 11-month high
palm oil
imports soared to an 11-month high in June, driven by lower domestic inventories and a price discount to rivals soyoil and sunflower oil that encouraged refiners to ramp up purchases, according to five dealers.
Higher palm oil imports by India, the world's biggest buyer of vegetable oils, will help bring down stocks in top producers Indonesia and Malaysia and support benchmark Malaysian palm oil futures.
Palm oil imports in June surged 61% month-on-month to 953,000 metric tons, the highest since July 2024, according to estimates from dealers.

"Palm oil has been regaining lost market share since last month. It is now nearly $100 per ton cheaper than competing oils," said Sandeep Bajoria, CEO of

India imported, on average, 475,699 tons of palm oil each month during the first seven months of the current marketing year ending October 2025, according to the Solvent Extractors' Association of India, which is set to publish its June import data by mid-July.
Live Events
In the last marketing year, India imported an average of more than 750,000 tons of palm oil each month.
Soyoil imports in June fell 9% month-on-month to 363,000 tons, while sunflower oil imports rose 18% to 216,000 tons, dealers estimated.
Higher imports of palm oil and sunflower oil lifted India's total edible oil imports in June by 30% from the month before to 1.53 million tons, the highest since November, according to dealers' estimates.
Palm oil imports are expected to remain robust in the coming months as its prices are attractive amid a pickup in production in key producing countries, said Rajesh Patel, managing partner at GGN Research, an edible oil trader.
India buys palm oil mainly from Indonesia and Malaysia, while it imports soyoil and sunflower oil from Argentina, Brazil, Russia and Ukraine.
Nepal's edible oil imports were 75,000 tons in June, down from 155,000 tons in May, GGN Research estimated.

Lumio announces Google TV-Powered Arc 7, Arc 5 projectors With 100-inch display and Dolby Audio
Lumio has launched two smart projectors targeting India's underdeveloped home projector market. The Lumio Arc 5 , priced at Rs 19,999, and Arc 7 for Rs 34,999, address key barriers that have limited projector adoption in India, including poor app compatibility, substandard audio quality, and unreliable after-sales support. Both models feature Google TV certification with Netflix compatibility and access to over 400,000 movies and shows across 10,000+ apps. "We see projectors as the next frontier in home entertainment," said Raghu Reddy, CEO of Circuit House Technologies. The company identified that India's midrange projector segment (Rs 20,000-50,000) lacked quality options, forcing consumers to choose between inadequate sub-Rs 12,000 models or expensive high-end alternatives. The Arc 5 offers 200 ANSI lumens brightness with up to 100-inch projection, weighing just 1.33 kg for portability. The Arc 7 delivers 400 ANSI lumens for brighter rooms and features 2x8W stereo speakers with Dolby Audio support. Both projectors use Lumio's proprietary Arclight Engine , featuring dust-proof sealing and Full HD 1080p resolution with HDR10 support. Smart setup features include auto-keystone correction, obstacle avoidance, and instant autofocus using Time-of-Flight sensors. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like ¿Tienes $105? Minister Nara Lokesh with students TIRUPATI: The 150-year-old VR School in Nellore, which was closed in 2021, was formally reopened on Monday by the State Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister. Originally established by Sunku Narayana Swamy Chetty on 3 May 1875, the school has a rich legacy and was later supported by the 28th Venkatagiri Raja, V Rajagopala Krishna Yachendra Bahadur. The historic school had faced several turbulent phases and was shut down during the YSRCP regime in 2021. Now, under the TDP-led NDA government, the institution has been revived with an investment of Rs 15 crore, supported by the NCC Group under its CSR initiative. Renovated and upgraded to international standards, the VR School has now admitted close to 1,000 students from underprivileged sections of society. After inaugurating the school, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh visited the classrooms, interacted with the students and teaching staff, and also spent time at the playground. 'The legendary VR school has provided education to many stalwarts like former Vice president of India M Venkaiah Naidu, playback singer SP Balasubramanyam etc. Senior politicians like Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy had also studied at this very school,' Lokesh noted. Recalling that many had asked him about why he chose to head a difficult portfolio like education, Lokesh stated that it was his dream to transform school education in the state in a big way and listed out numerous initiatives launched by the AP govt to upgrade govt schools in the state to the standards of corporate schools. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo During the event, the HRD minister also felicitated Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Devireddy Sudhakar Reddy and NCC Director Raju for supporting government schools under the P-4 initiative.
