Three people who hijacked a delivery vehicle in Browns Farm, Philippi, on Thursday, were gunned down moments later at an intersection.
According to Western Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Andrè Traut, the three people attacked two men at gunpoint before forcing them into the back of the delivery vehicle they had been driving, and speeding off.
'As the vehicle approached the intersection of Sheffield and Monwood Roads, it came under gunfire from unknown assailants. The shooting resulted in the deaths of three of the alleged hijackers. Their identities and ages are yet to be confirmed,' said Traut.
Traut said detectives attached to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit were following all leads in connection with the triple murder.
The Nyanga Community Policing Forum was approached for comment, which will be added once received.

Police identify 2 women found shot and killed in Phoenix apartment

Police are investigating the deaths of two women who were found shot inside a Phoenix apartment June 26. Officers conducting a welfare check discovered Marquisha Williams, 36, and Tiwayla Spencer, 38, both dead from gunshot wounds, according to Sgt. Brian Bower, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department. Police say the investigation began after a 911 call came in that morning from someone who reported not hearing from the occupants of the apartment — located near 24th Street and McDowell Road — for several days. Police were granted access to the unit by an employee of the complex, allowing officers to locate the bodies of the two women. "Detectives are working closely with the (Maricopa County) Medical Examiner's Office to better understand what contributed to this incident," Bower said in a statement. Bower declined to share further details, citing an ongoing investigation. Contact reporter Rey Covarrubias Jr. at rcovarrubias@ Follow him on Instagram, X, Threads and Bluesky: @ReyCJrAZ. Gangland enforcers Tamo Junto warn 'accept no imitation' in chilling video to imposters

The crime group behind the ongoing gangwar plaguing Edinburgh and the west of Scotland has fired a chilling final warning to the copycats passing themselves off as members of their crime syndicate. Tamo Junto has claimed responsibility over a number of incidents in recent months, as firebombings, shootings and knife attacks have taken place in and around the capital and Glasgow, reports The Daily Record. The group, also known as TMJ, serve as the footsoldiers for former Union Bears Capo-turned gang boss Ross "Miami" McGill, who holed up in a Dubai bolthole after leaving Scotland. The threats came in a 15-second video sent to the Daily Record. The clip features white text on a black background and ends with the TMJ logo against a camouflaged backdrop. The video brands the tmjdoesitbest TikTok account a "Fake Page". The account had posted a number of videos in recent days, naming a so-called rival and alleging attacks were imminent. We've never been on TikTok, Instagram or any of these platforms and never will be. "Social media is for snitches as we've seen over the last few months from The Gremlins and their associates. Anyone we find creating any accounts under our name will be targeted. "We will continue our pursuit against The Gremlins regardless of Operation Portaledge for many years to come. This is the final video we will be releasing. "There will never be another video created by TMJ again. Don't steal from us. Don't snitch on us. Don't pretend to be us. Or we will target you relentlessly. TMJ. Accept no imitations." Police Scotland has cracked down on the incidents - which have taken place in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bishopbriggs, and elsewhere in the country - as part of Operation Portaledge. The police operation has seen 50 suspects arrested and a number of individuals arrested, charged and remanded in custody over their alleged crimes.
