Infobip Research Reveals Surge in UK Brands' Adoption of RCS
LONDON, June 17, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Global cloud communications platform Infobip has released its latest Messaging Trends Report, which reveals that the adoption of Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging has skyrocketed, transforming the customer experience landscape.
Infobip analysed more than 530 billion interactions on its platform between businesses and consumers in 2024 to identify the latest business messaging trends. The data suggests Apple's support for RCS, following its iOS 18 update in late 2024, contributed to a 65% increase in UK RCS traffic.
UK businesses have embraced the channel for highly engaging, two-way customer interactions. Infobip's data shows that the increase in RCS usage is part of increasingly omnichannel approaches, with UK brands leveraging it alongside SMS, Voice & Video and WhatsApp for a seamless customer journey.
James Stokes, Head of Enterprise, UK & Nordics at Infobip, commented: "RCS is taking off because it works. The branded and verified experience reduces hesitation, while rich visuals capture attention and drive engagement. In A/B tests, RCS rich cards delivered up to 70% higher conversion rates than MMS. More significantly, RCS has driven conversion rates two to three times higher, and sometimes even ten times higher, than standard marketing channels."
The UK is the largest European market utilising the Infobip platform, growing by almost a third (31.7%) from 2023 to 2024. Companies in the wholesale communications services sector represent the largest segment, followed by telecoms and technology & software companies.
The Messaging Trends Report has revealed that as UK brands refine their customer engagement strategies, WhatsApp has emerged as a significant channel for conversational marketing, where the channel's growth has surpassed the growth of SMS and email. Infobip recorded a 392% increase in marketing messages sent over WhatsApp in the UK, driven by new features enabling seamless purchases within a single chat. This was accompanied by a 12x increase in conversational marketing messages, with majority being over WhatsApp. The platform also saw significant growth in other chat apps like Telegram, Line, and Viber.
Globally, Infobip saw a 30% increase in the number of brands orchestrating conversational marketing interactions with their customers on its platform.
AI adoption has also increased, according to data from Infobip's AI Hub. AI-powered chatbots and automation are being widely adopted, particularly in finance and insurance, where security and compliance are paramount. Businesses increasingly use AI for personalized interactions, fraud prevention, and real-time customer support.
James Stokes added: "With RCS adoption accelerating and AI transforming customer interactions, 2025 is set to be a pivotal year for conversational messaging."

Restaurant shares 'bitter disappointment' after more than 20 complaints from local residents
The former Holm House in Penarth, a luxury boutique hotel on the seafront has reopened with a new restaurant from the team behind popular Cardiff venue, Silures. It opened its doors to guests for the first time on Friday, July 11, but just two weeks later they have faced more than 20 complaints raised by local residents. The complaints have meant that Silures Penarth can no longer serve alcoholic drinks on the premises, and will have to wait longer for their alcohol licence to come through due to significant delays. The hotel originally closed in March 2024 due to rising costs and changing market conditions post-pandemic. From superstar gigs to cosy pubs, find out What's On in Wales by signing up to our newsletter here. READ MORE: One of Cardiff's most popular pubs announces 'final innings' and last day's trading READ MORE: The Welsh market town that 'used to be brilliant' but traders say has been ruined by the perfect storm The team behind Silures Penarth shared a statement on Instagram saying: "It's with bitter disappointment that due to over 20 complaints raised by local residents on the reopening of Holm House's Restaurant & Bar, from July 28th-August 11th, we are unable to serve alcoholic drinks to our guests. "There'll be exceptions made on August 2nd and 10th, which we'll be utilising temporary licensing (also known as 'TEN' - Temporary Events Notice) for to honour existing event bookings. "Up to now, our focus alongside the bedroom management team has been to open Silures at Holm House in the best possible way, as early as possible. By doing so, we've needed to apply for temporary licensing whilst our permanent application went through the standard process. "Due to complaints raised, our application has been significantly delayed and we have unfortunately exhausted the maximum number of 'TEN' days available." They continued: "With this update, we are now inviting diners during this period to bring their own alcohol free of charge (without corkage). All guests booked during this period will be notified. We sadly can only accommodate diners and those ordering soft or hot drinks in the bar, garden and lounge areas."We'd like to thank all guests who have dined with us up to now, and those planning to in the near future- Daf & Andrei" Social media users have flooded the comments of the post to share their support. Some people have asked how they can help and others have wished the team a speedy resolution. One user said: "Oh no! Sorry to hear that. It'll be a temporary blip and you'll be up and running before long again." Another added: "Absolutely crazy to see a local business have to jump through hoops of some people that have absolutely nothing better to do - especially given that the previous business terms were just this! "Not only do you support the local community through jobs, a place to go, local produce and adding a sense of community back to Penarth - we should be supporting businesses that want to take a chance in these climates not holding them accountable to some minor red tape. For this reason - (and I have had a wonderful dinner with you already) I will be booking again during this period. Hoping you move past this swiftly." A spokesperson for the Vale of Glamorgan Council have said that the license is still being determined and the next committee meeting when the decision is due to be made on August 12.

Inter ready to make new offer for Atalanta's Ademola Lookman
Serie A giants Inter have previously fallen short of Atalanta's valuation of Ademola Lookman. Now, they are making a higher offer. La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that the sales of Tajon Buchanan and Aleksandar Stankovic have handed Inter key funds. They do not intend to take too much time to sign Lookman are now prepared to offer €43 million and bonuses to the deal, taking it forward from €40 million. The player is keen on joining Inter, having rejected offers from Napoli and Atletico Madrid. Inter had initially wanted an initial loan with the obligation to buy but Atalanta wanted a permanent sale, but the payments can now be spread out. The focus on Lookman has forced Inter to give up on a move for Giovanni Leoni and a key meeting with Atalanta can take place in the next few days and it will prove vital in finding an agreement. Dutch Authorities Are Investigating Louis Vuitton Netherlands as Part of a Money Laundering Case
Louis Vuitton Netherlands if facing some serious scrutiny. The subsidiary of the French house is being probed by Dutch authorities for its connection to a money-laundering case against a Chinese woman. Identified as Bei W., the customer reportedly laundered nearly $3.5 million (3 million euros) from September 2021 to February 2023 at LV shops dotting the Dutch country, The New York Times reported. More from Robb Report Bulgari Unveils the First Mansion in Its Residential Resort in Turkey Buffalo Trace's Weller Line Just Dropped Its Oldest Whiskey Yet This $42 Million Mansion in Beverly Hills Was Once Home to a 'Gone With the Wind' Star Over the almost 18-month period, Bei W. never surpassed 10,000 euros, or almost $11,800, on a single luxury-goods transaction; going over that benchmark would call for a report of a cash purchase, The New York Times reported. That repeated string of sales, as well as hovering near the cash-reporting threshold, should have been a red flag to Louis Vuitton Netherlands stores, authorities say. As a result, prosecutors are investigating the subsidiary to see if it violated any money-laundering regulations. Bei W. allegedly used unlawful funds, sourced from illicit activities, to purchase a variety of high-end goods from LV stores under different names and e-mail addresses, authorities detailed at a preliminary hearing earlier this month. The customer in question reportedly used daigou, a practice where a person purchases goods on behalf of someone located in mainland China and ships the items to them, to shop at the Dutch Louis Vuitton stores. Bei W. allegedly sent her purchases back to China and Hong Kong, officials say. These kinds of daigou purchases (the market of which is estimated around $87 billion in 2023, according to the site Dutch News) can skirt high import taxes in China, but they can also be a way to conceal the source of illicit funds. That's key here, because Dutch authorities allege Bei W.'s money came from an underground banker trying to launder money. The person from whom she received the cash has already been convicted for their involvement in the plot. Two others involved in the case are also facing charges, one of whom worked at the maison and allegedly alerted Bei W. as to when items become available in the proper price range for the scheme, according to prosecutors. LVMH did not immediately respond to Robb Report's request for comment. Click here to read the full article.
