Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna's Kuberaa crosses Rs 75 Crore mark in India, continues dream run in North America
Sekhar Kammula
's Kuberaa is proving to be a solid theatrical success both in India and overseas. The socio-political thriller starring
Dhanush
, Nagarjuna, and
Rashmika Mandanna
has officially crossed the Rs 75 crore mark at the Indian box office in just nine days, while simultaneously maintaining impressive momentum in the North American market.
Kuberaa opened to strong numbers on its first Friday, collecting Rs 14.75 crore across all languages. Powered predominantly by the Telugu market with Rs 10 crore and Tamil markets contributing Rs 4.5 crore, the film's opening was among the better starts for a Sekhar Kammula directorial.
The momentum continued over the weekend with Rs 16.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 17.35 crore on Sunday. By the end of its opening weekend, Kuberaa had amassed Rs 48.6 crore.
Despite being content-heavy the film managed to draw audiences consistently, especially in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
Through the weekdays, as expected, the collections dipped but held reasonably well. Monday brought in Rs 6.8 crore, followed by Rs 5.85 crore on Tuesday, Rs 4.4 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 3.35 crore on Thursday. Kuberaa wrapped up its first week with an impressive Rs 69 crore net collection in India.
Entering its second weekend, Kuberaa faced new competition with multiple films like Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa to
Brad Pitt
's F1 to
Kajol
's Maa hitting the theaters along with a strong roll over by
Aamir Khan
's Sitaare Zameen Par. Despite this the film still managed a respectable Rs 2.5 crore on its second Friday. According to early estimates, the film witnessed a healthy jump of over 80 % on Saturday, earning Rs 4.25 crore. This brings its 9-day total to Rs 75.75 crore, a strong achievement for a film of this genre and budget.
In addition to its robust domestic performance, Kuberaa has been making waves in international markets, particularly in North America. By Sunday morning, the film's total in the region crossed the US $2.2 million (approx Rs 18.4 crore) mark, comfortably surpassing its breakeven target of US $1.8 million.
This makes Kuberaa one of the highest-grossing South Indian films in North America this year and highest grossing from Dhanush and Nagarjuna.
The combination of Dhanush's growing global appeal, Nagarjuna's loyal diaspora fanbase, and Rashmika's popularity has evidently worked in favour of the film abroad.
With positive word-of-mouth, steady urban audience footfalls Kuberaa is expected to maintain decent collections over the next few days. The film's performance so far reaffirms Sekhar Kammula's reputation for creating commercially viable, socially conscious cinema with wide appeal.

When lungi-clad Kannada actor wielded shovel to fix craters
Bengaluru: For the past week, a curious sight has been stopping commuters in their tracks near Basavanahalli Circle on Nelamangala-Doddaballapur Road: A man with a shovel, with his lungi folded, toiling alongside a few workers to fill potholes on a five-kilometre stretch. The man is none other than Kannada film actor Vinod Raj. With the civic agency showing no signs of repairing the stretch, Raj took matters into his own hands to spare fellow motorists of the daily bone-rattling ride. He purchased raw-material, hired a tractor to transport the same and supervised the pothole-filling exercise. Several surprised motorists greeted the actor with handshakes and smiles. "I incurred an expense of up to Rs 5 lakh for filling up the potholes and repairing the road. I purchased jelly stones, M-sand, and cement. The daily rent for the tractor carrying them is Rs 1,000. I'm not doing anything great. I'm just following the footsteps of my mother and actor, the late Leelavathi," he said. The recent rain worsened the situation. Even I take this road to reach my farmhouse. Therefore, we decided to repair it," he said. According to Raj, he worked on the five-km stretch for around 10 days. "Soon, the work will be over. After the rainy season, we will fill the potholes using ECOFIX—a ready-to-use pothole repair mix developed by the Central Road Research Institute," he said. Recalling the days when the road was not asphalted, Raj said he would ask his mother why she purchased the farm which had no proper roads. "A few decades back, we drove on the rock-studded road to reach the farmhouse. Thousands of commuters use this road every day, and potholes are posing a threat to them," he said.
