DMK's digital agents to assess reach of schemes
Rajaa took part in a training session, held at Anna Arivalayam, for the party's IT wing functionaries from all 234 Assembly constituencies on how to use the mobile application developed specifically for the membership drive.
These functionaries are designated as OTNACs (Oraniyil Tamil Nadu Assembly Coordinators). These 234 OTNACs will, in turn, train the BDAs of all booths in their respective constituencies from June 27 to 29. Party president and Chief Minister MK Stalin will launch the membership drive on July 1.
Speaking to the media, Rajaa said, 'Through this mega exercise, we will be calling on people to rally behind us for the future of Tamil Nadu. Enemies and betrayers of Tamils must be defeated. For that, the people of TN must unite. This is the message we will be taking to every household.' 'The centre is not approving the Keezhadi reports, nor is it releasing funds for education. We will explain all this during the campaign,' he added.

The chief minister will preside over the meeting, which is expected to see representatives from approximately 5,000 puja committees, high-ranking police officers, Kolkata's mayor, and officials from the fire department, the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation, and other agencies. Puja committee officials are eagerly awaiting the day, as the chief minister traditionally announces not only financial aid but also various exemptions for the festival. Checks of the government grant are typically disbursed to committees via local police stations. Political analysts are keenly observing this year's meeting, given its timing ahead of the Assembly elections next year. The Trinamool Congress has seen positive electoral outcomes linked to the puja grants. With the Lok Sabha elections having concluded last year, during which the grant was increased, the potential increase in the grant to 1 lakh just before the Assembly elections is seen by political circles as a strategic move that could positively influence the ballot. Furthermore, the chief minister is said to be leveraging this platform to promote communal harmony. Beyond the financial aspects, the meeting will also provide essential guidelines for various festival preparations, including maintaining cleanliness and ensuring drinking water supply during the puja days. While some puja committees had previously returned the grant in protest over issues like the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the vast majority have consistently accepted the government's financial assistance. A section of Congress leaders rally in support of Satheesan against Vellappally's attacks
A section of Congress leaders and members of some Muslim youth organisations appeared to rally in support of Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan who faced harsh criticism from Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) general secretary Vellappally Natesan for the third consecutive day on Sunday. Congress leader K.C. Joseph said in a social media post that criticism of any political leader, including Mr. Satheesan, should conform to accepted standards of public decency. He took strong exception to Mr. Natesan's 'insinuation' that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was above criticism in the House. (Mr. Natesan had accused Mr. Satheesan of being 'arrogant' to Mr. Vijayan in the Assembly, despite the latter's age and seniority). Congress legislator Mathew Kuzhalnadan termed attacks on Mr. Satheesan an attack on Congress. Tamil Nadu CM Stalin discharged from Chennai hospital after therapeutic procedure
Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin was discharged from a private hospital in Chennai on Sunday evening after undergoing a successful therapeutic procedure to treat variations in heart rate, the hospital said. After experiencing mild dizziness, the CM Stalin underwent medical examination and a procedure performed by a team of expert doctors.(PTI) On July 21, Stalin experienced dizziness during his morning walk and underwent medical examination, followed by a procedure performed by a team of expert doctors. According to the Apollo Hospital, where the CM was admitted, Stalin has been declared fit for discharge and has been advised to resume his regular activities after three days of rest. He also underwent an angiogram earlier, after which no blockage was found in the blood vessels, senior DMK leader and Minister Duraimurugan told PTI. An angiogram was performed afterwards, which came out to be normal. Meanwhile, earlier on Sunday, CM Stalin had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting urgent demands related to education, infrastructure, railways, and the welfare of people in Tamil Nadu. In his petition, CM Stalin demanded that funds under the Samagra Shiksha scheme be released and urged the Centre to implement railway projects that were sanctioned over a decade ago but still remain inactive. The petition emphasised the need for the centre's cooperation in implementing crucial projects and addressing long-pending issues. The petition sent to the centre, also raised strong concerns over the continued arrest and detention of Indian fishermen and the seizure of their boats by the Sri Lankan Navy. The Chief Minister urged the Prime Minister to intervene and find a permanent diplomatic solution personally.
