WBJEE 2025 Results To Be Declared On August 7, Confirms Board
WBJEE board chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee informed reporters that the results will be declared on August 7.
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEE) announced on Thursday that the results for this year's entrance exam will be released on August 7, following a delay of over a month.
The results publication was enabled by the Supreme Court's July 28 order, which stayed the Calcutta High Court's previous decision to halt the implementation of a revised list of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) notified by the state government.
WBJEE board chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee informed reporters that the results will be declared on August 7, reported PTI.
'From today (July 31), candidates will have to upload details about their caste category certificate in the relevant section of WBJEE portal till August 2. The board will sort out the data and incorporate updates of every candidate before coming up with the results," she stated.
'We are sure the process (of uploading details) will be over by the stipulated time and the results will be published on August 7," the WBJEE chairperson added.
A senior higher education department official explained, 'The decision to update every candidate's profile with caste category details have been taken after consulting legal experts." The WBJEE exam took place on April 27.
On July 28, a Supreme Court bench consisting of Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justices K Vinod Chandran and NV Anjaria, during the hearing of the state government's appeal, vacated the high court's stay and remarked that 'prima facie, the high court order seems to be erroneous."
On June 17, the Calcutta High Court had issued an interim stay on notifications by the state government regarding reservations to 140 subsections under OBC-A and OBC-B categories, the report added.
The state had prepared the new list after the high court, in May 2024, nullified the inclusion of 77 communities in the OBC list.

Internal quota: Parameshwara appeals to groups to not protest
Home Minister G. Parameshwara here on Sunday said that the Congress government was committed to implementing internal reservation for Scheduled Caste communities in the State and appealed to those threatening to stage protest seeking implementation of it to not do so. 'We had made the declaration on internal reservation in Chitradurga and we have also committed to it in our manifesto. Whatever we need to do should be done according to the procedure and guidelines issued by the Supreme Court. We are committed to implementing internal reservation; procedures have to be followed for which we need some time,' he told presspersons. His statement comes in the light of Dalit left (Madigas) groups threatening a protest from August 11. Dalit left leaders from the BJP, including Govind Karjol and A. Narayanaswamy, have also made such a threat. The Minister said that the commission, headed by retired judge H.N. Nagamohan Das, would submit its report to the government on August 4. It would discussed in the State Cabinet and steps would be taken to implement the recommendations. The A.J. Sadashiva Commission report was not accepted by the then BJP government because of data issues. On the meeting of Ministers from the Scheduled Caste community that he had convened, Dr. Parameshwara said that it was decided to have a common voice on the internal reservation. 'If there are any issues with communities, it was decided to talk to them.'

85,000 cases to be transferred to Kolhapur's circuit bench
Kolhapur: Starting Aug 18, a new circuit bench of the Bombay high court will begin operations in Kolhapur, taking on approximately 85,000 pending cases from as many as six districts. This move aims to significantly reduce the caseload at the main Bombay high court. The approved circuit bench will serve the districts of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. The new bench will be housed in three renovated halls of the old court building on Bhausingji Road. This historic building once served as the Supreme Court for the Chhatrapati family during pre-independence times, and more recently, as the district and sessions court until its relocation to a new facility in Kasba Bawada a few years ago. According to S S Khot, president of the Kolhapur District Bar Association, the transferred cases will include a mix of recent filings and older matters, all of which will receive daily hearings. "To ensure smooth operations, around 40 staffers will be transferred from the Bombay high court to the new circuit bench," he said. The administration has suggested 40 acres of Shenda Park, located just on the outskirts of Kolhapur city, to build the court infrastructure. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Beautiful Female Athletes Right Now Undo "This, however, will take four to five years," Khot said. Ludhiana: Kidwai Nagar locals hug 35-yr-old trees to save them from felling
In a peaceful and emotion-laden demonstration, residents of Kidwai Nagar gathered at the Shaheedi Park on Saturday to protest against the proposed felling of over 20 silver oak trees, each nearly 35 years old, for the construction of an overhead water tank. Residents during the protest at the Shaheedi Park in Kidwai Nagar, Ludhiana, on Sunday. (Manish/HT) Drawing inspiration from the historic Chipko Movement, women and children hugged the trees to symbolise their love for nature and demand for environmentally responsible development. The protest remained peaceful and highlighted the community's deep concern for the loss of Ludhiana's already shrinking green spaces. Environmentalist Gagnish Khurana, addressing the media, said, 'Ludhiana, especially areas like old Kidwai Nagar, has very limited green cover. Park areas form less than 1% of the land, whereas even affordable housing projects require at least 8% green space. These trees are vital for maintaining urban balance.' Khurana also criticised the authorities for not following proper procedures. 'As per high court guidelines, it is mandatory to inform local residents through public notices before selecting any park for such construction. No such information was shared with us,' he added. Vinod Kapoor, a local resident, stressed the need for transparency and suggested public consultation before finalising such major projects. 'Development is important, but it should be sustainable. Residents must be taken into confidence,' he said. Kapil Arora, president of the local association, clarified that the residents are not opposing the construction of the water tank itself. 'We welcome the project but request that it be built at the site of the old, unused water tank. This way, we can avoid unnecessary damage to greenery. The Supreme Court has equated the cutting of trees to murder, yet our authorities seem to be ignoring the long-term consequences,' he said. The ₹1,660-crore surface water supply project, supported under a World Bank scheme, aims to reduce dependency on groundwater. However, residents insist that infrastructure development must not come at the cost of Ludhiana's already limited green lungs.
