India moves forward in developing K-6 missile
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and being readied for deployment on the future nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) of the Indian Navy, the K-6 represents not just technological advancement, but a powerful symbol of strategic maturity and self-reliance.

Tesla begins its journey in India with Model Y launch starting at Rs60 lakhs
Mumbai: Tesla has officially entered the world's third-largest automobile market, India, with the launch of its electric Midsize SUV, the Tesla Model Y, priced from nearly Rs60 lakhs. Currently, the Model Y will be the only model available in the country. It will be offered in two variants; Rear-Wheel Drive, priced at INR 60 lakhs, and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, priced at IRs68 lakhs. Customers can also opt for Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) package, which adds an additional cost of Rs6 lakhs over the base prices. The Model Y will be available in six colour options, of which Stealth Grey is the only one offered at no additional charge. The other colours: Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Ultra Red, Quicksilver, and Glacier Blue, will come at an extra cost. Interior options include white and black themes, and the vehicle will feature a five-seat configuration. As of now, deliveries and registration are available only in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, as listed on Tesla's official portal. Pricing may vary depending on the state and applicable local taxes. Deliveries of the Tesla Model Y are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025. Earlier today, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated Tesla's first Experience Centre in India, located at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, marking a significant milestone for the company's entry into the Indian market. The minister said, "I welcome Tesla here in Mumbai. Tesla has opened an experience centre here, and it is a statement that Tesla has arrived and it's a statement they Tesla has arrived in the right city and right state." In April this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Elon Musk, discussing potential collaborations in technology and innovation. PM Modi had also met Musk earlier in February during his visit to the United States. With the opening of its first showroom in Mumbai, Tesla aims to test the Indian market and lay the groundwork for its premium electric vehicle offerings in one of the world's fastest-growing automotive sectors.

India gets second GE-404 engine for LCA MK-1A, to receive 12 more by end of current fiscal
New Delhi: In a significant development, India on Monday received the second GE-404 engine from the US for the LCA Mark 1A fighter jet aircraft programme, Defence officials said. The engine has been received by the Public sector firm Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and it is expected to receive 12 more GE-404 engines by the end of this financial year. The engines will be fitted on the LCA Mark 1A fighter jets. The delivery of the engines had been delayed by more than a year due to supply chain issues faced by the American engine manufacturing firm. Indian Air Force has placed orders for 83 LCA Mark 1A fighter jets and a proposal to buy 97 more of these planes is at an advanced stage after the clearance from the Defence Ministry, officials said. Earlier this year, GE Aerospace delivered the first of 99 F404-IN20 engines to HAL for the Light Combat Aircraft Mk 1A fighter jet. The HAL is planning to integrate the engines with the Mark1A fighters and supply over 10 of these planes to IAF. Recently, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister PK Misra had visited the HAL facilities in Bengaluru and received the LCA Mark 2 project along with the Mark 1A programme. The LCA Mark 2 project is expected to be the replacement for the aging fleet of Mirage 2000, Jaguar and MiG-29 aircraft around the year 2035. Over 400 indigenous LCA aircraft are expected to be built by India with the American GE engine variants in the next over 10 years. More than Rs 9000 Crore have been sanctioned for the development of LCA Mk 2, an updated and more lethal version of LCA Tejas. To further promote indigenisation, including of the aircraft engine, Transfer of Technology for manufacturing of the GE engine in India was negotiated with GE during Prime Minister's visit to the US in June 2023. In the coming years, Tejas would be the largest fleet of fighter aircraft to be operated by the Indian Air Force.

"Tesla has arrived in the right city and right state" says Maharashtra CM at Mumbai showroom opening
Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday inaugurated the 'Tesla Experience Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai and welcomed Tesla's arrival to India. The minister said, "I welcome Tesla here in Mumbai. Tesla has opened an experience centre here, and it is a statement that Tesla has arrived and it's a statement they Tesla has arrived in the right city and right state." "It is a matter of great joy for us that Tesla has launched its first experience in India in Mumbai. Tesla is establishing a logistics and servicing system here. Four big charging stations are also being established by them. I am happy that Tesla chose Maharashtra as the state has become a leader in electric mobility. Tesla is launching its Model Y in India. Maharashtra has the most dynamic electric mobility. policy...I believe Maharashtra will be a preferred destination when they decide to do manufacturing in India," he added. During the inauguration of the Tesla Experience Centre, Devendra Fadnavis also highlighted the company's global recognition. "Tesla is not just a car or a car company, it is all about design, innovation and sustainability, for which Tesla stands as a testament, and I think that is a one and only reason it is loved globally," he said. The Chief Minister also mentioned the rising demand for electric Mobility in Maharashtra and India. He noted, "We have now in India and especially in Maharashtra, a very big and robust market for electric mobility, we are also a manufacturing hub of electric mobility now, but I think Tesla is going to change the entire market." Towards the end of his speech, the CM assured that "Mumbai and Maharashtra are going to treat Tesla well.... consider us as partners of your (Tesla) journey." Earlier reports had suggested that Tesla was keen to import its vehicles into the country and sell them through its showrooms, rather than establishing manufacturing facilities. However, the company has maintained a quiet stance about its detailed operational strategy for India. In a significant move earlier this year, Tesla began its hiring process in India, indicating the company's preparations for entering the domestic market were gaining pace. Tesla CEO Elon Musk had previously expressed interest in investing in India, but he had also pointed out that high import duties were a major India's new EV policy, which was announced recently, offered reduced import duties and additional incentives to attract global EV manufacturers, potentially paving the way for Tesla's entry.
