Unity and loyalty to the party when faced with current challenges forms the core to rejuvenating UMNO so that the party can be strong as it was previously, he added.
"We need to ensure we are always in a situation to maintain unity and the welfare of our party,' he said during his speech officiating the Bukit Gelugor UMNO Division delegates' meeting here today.

He also reminded members to accept the reality that no political party could be dominant on its own as before, so UMNO required solid support from its coalition partners in Barisan Nasional (BN) to face GE16.
Meanwhile, in KOTA TINGGI, Johor, UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid urged party members to not be complacent but to work hard to defend all seats won in the last general election and to seize seats back from their rivals.
'We cannot be complacent, we can't fantasise if we want to win the election. Victory doesn't come from false hope, it needs effort and strategy. We need to ensure existing Parliament and state seats remain ours, and at the same time look for ways to add other seats,' the Kedah UMNO chairman said during his speech officiating the Pengerang UMNO Division delegates' meeting here today.

Mahdzir urged UMNO members and supporters to not be easily deceived by fake news and slander but to rely on facts and to look for truth in the current challenging political landscape.
He cited the spread of slanderous news that could erode public confidence in UMNO leadership as one of the biggest challenges faced by the party.

PH-BN combo can win big in Sabah polls - Umno sec-gen
TANJONG KARANG: Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) can secure a big win in the next Sabah state election if they join forces, based on trends in past elections, said Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. He said the cooperation between the two coalitions has become a benchmark, as this element was key to their significant wins in three state by-elections – Ayer Kuning in Perak, Mahkota in Johor and Nenggiri in Kelantan. "We've seen how we managed to win in polling districts that we had never won before, particularly in areas with non-Malay majorities, all because of this cooperation. "So why should we be arrogant and refuse to work with others? Umno is an open and dynamic party," he told reporters after opening the Tanjong Karang Umno division delegates meeting here today. Asyraf Wajdi further said that negotiations between PH and BN for cooperation in the Sabah state election have reached 98 per cent completion. Meanwhile, Asyraf Wajdi said Umno is optimistic about recapturing the Tanjong Karang parliamentary seat in the 16th general election (GE16). He said the seat is considered a priority after Umno's defeat in the last general election. "To win, the formula is clear — we must return to Umno's core values: unity, loyalty and faith. "Unity means there should be no factions within the party. "Tanjong Karang was a seat we had never lost until the last general election. "So, our focus is to make it one of the key seats to win back," he said. In GE15, the Tanjong Karang seat was won by Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi of Perikatan Nasional with a majority of 2,180 when he polled 18,054 votes. Federal govt allocates RM8.79b to roll out 86 projects under 12MP in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU: The federal government, through the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, has allocated RM8.79 billion until June 2025 to implement 86 development projects in Sabah. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also the energy transition and water transformation minister, said the total allocation will be disbursed under the Fifth Rolling Plan (RP5) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP). "Sabah has received a fairly large allocation from the federal government, it is our commitment to resolve two key issues in Sabah, namely, water and energy. "Because without energy and water, there can be no economic growth in Sabah," he said when speaking at the ministry Engagement Session with Sabah Media in 2025 here tonight. He said the Madani government is always striving to ensure that Sabah continues to prosper together as a big Malaysian family. Therefore, Sabah's progress is not only the responsibility of this state, but of the entire nation. "With strong federal-state relations, we can build a more prosperous, just as well as sustainable state and country, with the support of a free and trustworthy media and a united people," he said. Meanwhile, Fadillah also said the engagement session was intended as a platform for the media to better understand the role of ministry and agencies under its auspices.
