Chin Hin to procure AAC machinery from Shanghai-listed Jiangsu Teeyer for its third manufacturing plant
The MoU marks Chin Hin's strategic expansion into its third AAC manufacturing facility, which is set to be situated adjacent to the group's existing factory in Serendah, Selangor.
Scheduled for full production by May 31, 2026, the new facility will significantly elevate the group's production capabilities by adding a capacity of over 1,000,000 cubic meters per year.
Chin Hin group CEO for building materials division Ng Wai Luen said this strategic partnership with Jiangsu Teeyer is a significant milestone for Chin Hin, as it substantially enhances production capabilities and strengthens its competitive edge in the market.
'Jiangsu Teeyer's extensive global experience and technological expertise align perfectly with our growth strategy to meet rising demand for sustainable, high-quality building materials in Malaysia and beyond,' he said in a statement.
Jiangsu Teeyer, listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, has a market capitalisation of approximately RM2.3 billion.
The company is globally acclaimed for its expertise in AAC production systems.
With over 35 years in the industry and having exported nearly 150 production lines to more than 20 countries, Jiangsu Teeyer is recognised for pioneering technological advancements, such as the MES system for precise production management and being the first Chinese company to localise AAC cutting machinery.
Currently, Chin Hin's two existing AAC plants have a combined production capacity of approximately 1,200,000 cubic meters.
With the addition of this third facility, the group's total AAC production capacity will rise to over 2,200,000 cubic meters annually, further consolidating its leadership in the building materials industry.

Japan plans ‘world first' deep-sea mineral extraction
TOKYO: Japan will from January attempt to extract rare earth minerals from the ocean floor in the deepest trial of its kind, the director of a government innovation programme said Thursday. Earlier this week the country pledged to work with the United States, India and Australia to ensure a stable supply of critical minerals, as concern grows over China's dominance in resources vital to new technologies. Rare earths -- 17 metals difficult to extract from the Earth's crust -- are used in everything from electric vehicles to hard drives, wind turbines and missiles. China accounts for almost two-thirds of rare earth mining production and 92 percent of global refined output, according to the International Energy Agency. A Japanese deep-sea scientific drilling boat called the Chikyu will from January conduct a 'test cruise' to retrieve ocean floor sediments that contain rare earth elements, said Shoichi Ishii, director of Japan's Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Programme. 'The test to retrieve the sediments from 5,500 metres (3.4 miles) water depth is the first in the world,' he told AFP. 'Our goal... of this cruise is to test the function of all mining equipment,' so the amount of sediment extracted 'doesn't matter at all', Ishii added. The Chikyu will drill in Japanese economic waters around the remote island of Minami Torishima in the Pacific -- the easternmost point of Japan, also used as a military base. Japan's Nikkei business daily reported that the mission aims to extract 35 tonnes of mud from the sea floor over around three weeks. Each tonne is expected to contain around two kilograms (4.4 pounds) of rare earth minerals, which are often used to make magnets that are essential in modern electronics. Deep-sea mining has become a geopolitical flashpoint, with anxiety growing over a push by US President Donald Trump to fast-track the practice in international waters. Beijing has since April required licences to export rare earths from China, a move seen as retaliation for US curbs on the import of Chinese goods. Environmental campaigners warn that deep-sea mining threatens marine ecosystems and will disrupt the sea floor. The International Seabed Authority, which has jurisdiction over the ocean floor outside national waters, is meeting later this month to discuss a global code to regulate mining in the ocean depths. – AFP

Kuching's century-old cemetery revamp to boost heritage and recreation
KUCHING: The Kuching Hokkien Association and Fairy Park Group have signed an agreement to revitalise a century-old cemetery, shifting perceptions of such spaces from eerie to heritage-rich recreational hubs. The project aims to beautify the 15-acre site, making it more welcoming for visitors, especially during the annual Tomb-Sweeping Day (Ching Ming Festival). Association president Datuk Richard Wee Liang Chiat explained that the collaboration with Fairy Park Group aligns with their 'heritage city' concept, blending memorial functions with modern amenities. The renovation, set to begin next month, is expected to take five years. Beyond a columbarium, the upgraded cemetery will feature a swimming pool, basketball court, cafeteria, and recreation hall. 'We want a beautified park that offers additional space for leisure, where people can stroll or jog,' Wee said. Fairy Park Group managing director Koh Ko Tong highlighted that this marks their first 'heritage city' project in East Malaysia and signals their nationwide expansion. The group plans to replicate this model in other cities to promote Chinese cultural unity and educational contributions. 'We hope that in the future, every city will have a place that fosters Chinese unity. We also hope to provide a platform to contribute to education,' he added.
