'We want to play for England just like Jess Park'
Defending champions England will take on Spain in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final on Sunday, hoping to go one better than two years ago when they lost to the same opponents in the World Cup final.
Young girls at Elloughton Blackburn Football Club in Brough, the former club of current England international Jess Park, said they hoped to follow in her footsteps.
Eight-year-old Scarlett said: "I feel like I could be like her [Jess Park] and I could play for Elloughton but then go into England, too."
She added: "I think they [the Lionesses] are going to win. I think she [Jess Park] has been really good. I've been proud of her."
Thea, seven, said her role models included Park and Ella Toone.
She said: "I like them because they're just really kind. I really look up to them and I want to be the next one of them.
"They represent our country and they're just really good at playing football.
"I think they're going to do really well and score lots of goals."
Thea's mother, Becca, said her daughter "lives and breathes" football.
She said watching the Lionesses showed girls what could be achieved in the sport and that it was not just for boys.
She added: "Representation is important in all areas and the fact that they can see someone special like Jess, who has started here and see what she's gone on to do, I think that's amazing."
Scarlett, seven, said she joined the team because she wants to be a professional football player.
"I feel inspired that Jess has gone from Elloughton Blackburn to the national team," she said.
"If they win, girls will want to play the game more."
Elloughton Blackburn's president, Conleth Campbell, has been at the club for 20 years and saw Park's progress.
He said she played for the club from the age of seven for four years and it was an "absolutely phenomenal achievement" what she had done.
He said: "We did see the talent back then at such a young age and we're all extremely proud of her.
"The success of Jess and the success of the Lionesses has promoted girls football in this country.
"We are approaching capacity [at the club]."

"I was not missing": Chloe Kelly explains penalty routine as England retain Euro 2025 crown
England forward Chloe Kelly has explained her unique penalty routine after firing the Lionesses to European glory once again. Kelly emphatically slammed home the decisive spot-kick in the shootout as England beat Spain in Sunday's Euro 2025 final. 'Honestly, it just making sure that I am ready, not letting anyone take me off my routine,'she said afterwards. I spin the ball so I feel like it is right and then, when I am ready, there is no amount of time, that's just when I feel that's the perfect one. 'Whether that will be 10 times [spinning the ball], I'd make sure it is 10 times. 'It is just something that is part of my routine, just like my breathe work is, and I try to stick to that routine as much as possible, and believe in myself in those moments.' It is now back-to-back Euro titles for the Lionesses and it was Kelly who proved to be the hero in the final three years ago as she netted a dramatic extra-time winner against Germany at Wembley. Despite seeing her initial penalty saved in the semi-final win over Italy, Kelly was not fazed about stepping up to take the final spot-kick against Spain. She added: 'To be honest, it started when I was at Everton - quite a few years ago now. It is something that just works for me, I can't explain it too much. 'I actually spoke with one of the coaches the other day about it, it's just my routine that works for me and I take my time, I take my breath, and I am confident in that. 'Taking a penalty normally would feel a bit weird to me. So it is just my routine. Sometimes you miss, sometimes you score, but I was adamant I was not missing two on the bounce.'

€78m deal is Liverpool's DREAM come true
Liverpool are set to strike a €78m deal. It's a dream come true and exactly what the Reds needed. Liverpool have found a few deals this summer that are still incredible to think about. Florian Wirtz's record-breaking arrival remains the peak, of course. LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Wirtz cost Liverpool more than any other player in their history, arriving for around £100m guaranteed. That could well rise to a British transfer record if add-ons are met. The Jeremie Frimpong deal feels like a steal, too. He's joined for under £30m and fixes a few problems in the squad. One of those problems was created by Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving for Real Madrid. Still, Liverpool turned that into a remarkable deal - £10m for a player who wouldn't actually play for the club again. Jarell Quansah joined Bayer Leverkusen for a sizeable fee in another brilliant deal. Liverpool retain a buyback clause for the defender so if he does reach his remarkable potential, the Reds can buy him back. Everything has been going Liverpool's way this summer, then. And now another deal can be added to that list. Liverpool to strike Luis Diaz deal Fabrizio Romano is one of many saying that a deal between Liverpool and Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz is now close. He says this one's at the final stages, with only details being sorted. Now, Romano claims the fee here is around €75m. Sky Sports suggest it's slightly higher at around €78m. And this is a fantastic deal for Liverpool. It's a large fee - one of the largest received for a Red - and it's for someone approaching 29 with two years remaining on his contract. Diaz wasn't going to sign a new deal, either, after negotiations broke down. His asking price would have plummeted in a year as a result of that - Liverpool needed to get this one done now.

Eric Bailly handed career lifeline by two surprise Italian clubs
Former Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is wanted by two Italian clubs. Difficult career after United The Ivorian has had his difficulties since leaving England. He struggled whilst in Turkey for Besiktas after leaving United and had his contract cancelled after only a matter of months at the club. Bailly then signed for his former club Villarreal but failed to make much of an impact. The Ivory Coast international was then released from the Spanish side earlier this summer. Saudi move fell through The 31-year-old centre back looked like he would be on his way to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Najmah SC. Nonetheless, this deal never came to pass as Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the move broke down due to Bailly deciding to walk away from negotiations. Italian interest Italian website Calciomercato have reported that there are a couple of teams in Italy who hold an interest in the centre back. They claim that Serie A could be in Bailly's future very soon. The website states that 'the player's team has offered him a Serie A deal with Cagliari and Cremonese: both the Sardinian and Lombard clubs are interested in him.' Salary Obstacle Nonetheless, a deal will not be plain sailing for the free agent. The site reports that 'the biggest obstacle at the moment is a salary request of at least €1 million.' A move to Italy would add to 'an impressive CV', after spells in Spain, England, France and Turkey. Bailly will hope wherever he lands, he can put together some significant time on the pitch.
