‘Want PoK back as dakshina': Seer told Army Chief Dwivedi
Speaking about the visit, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya said, 'I gave him the same Diksha (initiation) with the Ram Mantra which Lord Hanuman had received from Maa Sita and then conquered Lanka. I have asked for Dakshina from him, that I want PoK back.'
The Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, visited the Ashram of Spiritual Leader Jagadguru Rambhadracharya & inaugurated the Simulator Machine at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya. Sadguru Sewa Centre member said that Upendra Dwivedi and Sadhguru visited their facility and also observed the operation theatre process.
'Upendra Dwivedi visited us this morning, and Sadhguru also paid a visit to our facility. During his visit, we showcased a simulator machine used for medical training. Doctors first learn procedures on this machine before treating patients. It's a vital step in ensuring precision and safety. In all of India, there are only about four to five such machines--and this is the first one in Madhya Pradesh. He inaugurated the machine and also observed the entire operation theatre process.'
He further added, 'We told him that there are around 140 vision centres and the same number of 140 eye surgeons operating across our network. He was deeply impressed by the scale and efficiency of the work. Following this, we discussed how Sadguru Sewa Centres could collaborate with us to benefit our service personnel.
We see great potential in working together to expand access and impact.'

PM Modi unveils & lays foundation for 52 Projects worth Rs. 2,200 crore in Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple infrastructure and development projects valued at approximately ₹2,200 crore in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. The initiatives cover sectors such as roads, power, tourism, education, health, sports, and urban rejuvenation, offering a comprehensive boost to the region's growth trajectory. Key projects include the inauguration of widening and strengthening works on the Varanasi–Bhadohi and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar roads, along with the construction of a railway overbridge at Hardattpur to ease traffic congestion on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura stretch. Foundation stones were also laid for corridor upgrades at Dalmandi, Lahartara-Kotwa, Gangapur, and Babatpur, plus new overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard. Over ₹880 crore was sanctioned for smart distribution and underground electrical infrastructure under the Smart Power Project to improve urban power reliability. In a cultural and tourism push, PM Modi inaugurated development of eight riverfront ghats, Kalika Dham beautification, restoration of Durgakund and Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, and urban horticulture projects like Miyawaki forests and parks in Karkhiyaon and Shaheed Udyan. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation for educational and healthcare infrastructure including a new homeopathic college, hospital, upgrade of 53 school buildings, a district library, and a rejuvenated high school network. Health services received a boost with advanced medical facilities for robotic surgery and CT scans installed at Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital. On the welfare front, PM Modi released the 20th instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, disbursing ₹20,500 crore directly into bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers nationwide. Over ₹900 crore reached beneficiaries in Varanasi alone. Additionally, more than 7,400 assistive devices were distributed to the elderly and differently-abled citizens. Addressing the crowd, PM Modi shared his spiritual sentiment, saying he chose not to visit Baba Vishwanath Temple during the holy month of Sawan to avoid crowding devotees during the rush. He expressed deep reverence for the temple and the sacred month of Sawan. He also commemorated the success of Operation Sindoor, attributing it to divine blessings and public unity, while affirming India's journey toward becoming the world's third-largest economy with a call to embrace 'Vocal for Local' as citizens' responsibility.

RSS women's wing expresses concern over substance abuse among youth
1 2 Nagpur: The Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the women's wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Sunday expressed serious concern over rising substance abuse among youth, including women. The organisation also mentioned opioid abuse among other substances. Opioids are natural, synthetic and semi-synthetic drugs, including prescription medications. The Samiti, which held its national executive meeting headed by Pramukh Sanchalika, Shantakka, passed a resolution urging the govt to make it mandatory for educational institutions to include programmes against addiction as part of their activities. The organization blamed social media and movies for rising drug abuse. It also sought curbs over means of inappropriate entertainment and strict action against those involved in the drug trade. Drug addiction has also led to improper behaviour, provocative dressing, and antisocial activities, said the Samiti while also calling for having better-equipped de-addiction centres and an increase in their numbers. Citing a report by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Samiti said almost 25 crore young persons are addicted to some kind of substance. Drug abuse is also fast increasing among women, noted the Samiti. Based on the AIIMS report, the Samiti said 1.6% of women are addicted to alcohol, 0.26% to opioids, 0.34% to cannabis, and 8.9% to tobacco. It also mentioned a Supreme Court observation in December 2022, that 1.58 crore persons in the age group of 10 to 17 years are addicted to various drugs, and more than 75% of the addicts start the abuse before the age of 20 years. Praise for Operation Sindoor Rashtra Sevika Samiti issued a letter congratulating the Indian armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor. It mentioned that the Indian air defence system foiled attacks by the Pakistani forces mid-air. "The country also gained on the diplomatic front by isolating Pakistan globally. Having two women officers brief about the success of Operation Sindoor signalled women empowerment. The entire Operation Sindoor has emerged as a symbol of assurance for country's safety," said a note shared by the Samiti. E-booklet on experiences during Emergency The Rashtra Sevika Samiti, which will complete 90 years in 2026, has also released an e-booklet on the sevikas' (women volunteers) experiences during the struggle against Emergency. The Samiti has termed the Emergency as a dark period for Indian democracy. The Samiti's national executive meeting was held in Nagpur from July 17 to 20. It was attended by 411 representatives from 38 regions of the organisation. The Samiti's volunteers will also be working on the events to mark the centenary year of RSS.

Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh, the deputy Army chief (capability development and sustenance), said at an event: 'When the DGMO [director general of military operations]-level talks were going on, Pakistan actually was mentioning that 'we know that your such and such important sort is primed and it is ready for action...I would request you to perhaps pull it back'. So he was getting live inputs from China.' Singh also said that India must be prepared for future attacks on its population centres and highlighted the need for strengthening air defence capabilities. The Army officer further said that India was effectively up against three adversaries during the four-day conflict: with Pakistan leading the front, China offering extensive support and Turkey playing an important role by providing drones 'along with trained individuals who were there'. Read on. The Kerala government issued a high alert in three districts after two suspected cases of the Nipah virus were detected in the state. One of the cases was later confirmed. The alert was issued for Malappuram, Palakkad and Kozhikode districts. State Health Minister Veena George convened an emergency meeting and confirmed that preventive actions had been intensified in line with the Nipah virus protocol. Police assistance had been sought to help trace persons who may have been in contact with the suspected cases, the minister said. Twenty-six rapid response teams had been deployed to carry out contact tracing, monitor symptoms and spread public awareness. Since 2018, Kerala has experienced five Nipah outbreaks. Read on. Witness testimonies and videos from the violence in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal in November 'contradict the official narrative' that the crowd protesting a court-appointed survey was violent, said a fact-finding report by a civil rights groups. 'Rather, they [testimonies and videos] depict excessive force by the police, including unlawful entries into homes, destruction of property and beatings,' said the report released by non-governmental organisation Association for Protection of Civil Rights and solidarity campaign Karwan-e-Mohabbat. The report pertained to the violence that broke out in Sambhal on November 24 after a group of Muslims objected to a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Chandausi town. A trial court had ordered the survey in a lawsuit claiming that the mosque had been built in 1526 by Mughal ruler Babar on the site of the 'centuries-old Shri Hari Har Temple dedicated to Lord Kalki'. Five persons were killed in the violence.
