Fast-melting ice Shivling leads to surge in Amarnath Yatra cancellations

As of Friday evening, over 145,000 pilgrims offered prayers at the sacred 3,880-metre-high Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu & Kashmir's (J&K) Anantnag district, following the flagging off of the much-awaited annual Amarnath Yatra on July 3.
Over 400,000 online registrations for this year's pilgrimage notwithstanding, concerns over extreme weather, security, and logistical changes are dampening the spirits of tour operators and hospitality businesses. The melting of the Shivling within days of the start of the Yatra has raised fears of a sharp drop in footfall in the coming weeks.

Haryana: Mobile internet services will remain suspended for 24 hours in Haryana's Nuh, ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra. The suspension will be in effect from today, July 13, 9pm to July 14, 9pm, as per an order from the Haryana Department of Home Affairs. A holiday in government and private schools in the Nuh district on Monday, July 14 has also been announced. According to an official statement, 14 DSPs have been deployed and 28 checkpoints set up at various locations along the route of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, reported PTI. 10 Amarnath pilgrims injured after 3 buses collide in J&K's Kulgam
Three buses part of the Amarnath Yatra convoy collided on Sunday on their way back to a base camp in Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir, injuring at least 10 pilgrims, officials said. BSF personnel patrol during the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu on Saturday. (ANI) The injured pilgrims were taken to a hospital for treatment, they said. The convoy was returning after pilgrims had their darshan at the cave shrine. Officials said the condition of all injured was stated to be stable. Three buses were damaged in the road accident. Other pilgrims from the affected buses were moved to reserve buses and the convoy went ahead with the onward journey, they added.
