Ineos-Grenadiers team car hits spectator during Tour de France
TV footage of the race showed the team car knocking down the fan who was holding what looked liked a mobile phone about 200 meters from the top of the Col de Peyresourde. The vehicle was following riders on the steep ascent and driving at moderate speed.
There was no immediate information available on the spectator's condition.
The race jury later said Ineos Grenadiers sports director Oliver Cookson was fined 5,000 Swiss francs ($6,200) for 'improper behavior endangering spectators' and handed a yellow card. Accumulating yellow cards over a defined period of time results in a suspension.
Ineos-Grenadiers apologized 'to the fan who was accidentally and regretfully struck by one of our race cars while supporting the riders.'
'Like all teams we take great care to maintain a safe race environment for everyone, including the passionate fans who make our sport so special."

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 6-year-old is in critical condition after 'a large portion of asphalt' went through the windshield of a vehicle and hit him. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the area of South Durango Drive and Peace Way shortly before 7:45 a.m. on Monday, July 28. Evidence at the scene and witness statements show a 2017 Honda Pilot, driven by a 34-year-old woman, was traveling north on Durango Drive. A 'large portion of asphalt' became 'dislodged' from a vehicle driving south on Durango and entered the northbound lanes, hitting the Honda. The asphalt piece went through the windshield of the vehicle and hit a 6-year-old boy sitting in the back seat. Medical personnel took the child to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, which police also described as life-threatening injuries. He remained in critical condition on Monday afternoon. The driver of the Honda was not impaired, police said. Another passenger, a 4-year-old boy, sustained no injuries. Police asked that drivers avoid the area as this is an ongoing investigation. Police car and semitruck collide in Shakopee; 1 injured
One person is in the hospital with minor injuries after a police car and a semitruck collided in Shakopee Monday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Troopers responded to the crash in the area of County Road 101 and Canterbury Road around 4:45 p.m. Investigators say a driver in a Shakopee Police Department squad car was turning onto County Road 101 from Canterbury Road when the car collided with a semitruck. Chopper footage appears to show that both vehicles were severely burnt. According to the state patrol, the driver of the squad car was taken to the hospital. The semitruck driver was not injured. The squad car's emergency equipment was on at the time of the crash, according to the state patrol, which is investigating.
