● Talented women can apply for a €20,000 international award.
Orange Egypt has announced the opening of applications for the 15th edition of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) in 2025. The competition, with a total prize fund of €70,000, recognizes enterprises and startups that use technical innovation to find novel solutions to societal concerns. This demonstrates Orange's commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and contributing to social and economic development by incentivizing technical innovation focused at producing solutions that effect good change at the community and environmental levels.
The competition is divided into two phases. The first is the local phase, during which Orange Egypt will accept proposals from companies willing to participate in the competition platform via the URL (https://poesam.optimytool.com/en) until May 18, 2025. Then, a jury made up of entrepreneurial leaders and cadres, as well as Orange executives, will review the proposals and pick three winning local firms to advance to the competition's international round. They will compete against other qualifiers from different nations for three prizes for the top three winners: €25,000 for first place, €15,000 for second place, and €10,000 for third place.
For the fifth consecutive year, the competition has awarded a grand prize to female entrepreneurs to enhance women's participation in entrepreneurship in the region and to highlight Orange's commitment to supporting talented women in establishing startups and providing them with the necessary support to continue their journey and contribute to the development of their communities. Each local competition will pick up to three female-led or co-founded businesses to compete for the €20,000 "International Women's Prize".
For her part, Maha Nagy, Chief Communications Officer Orange Egypt, emphasized that Orange's 15-year commitment to organizing the competition demonstrates its belief in the importance of technological innovation and entrepreneurship in addressing societal challenges, as well as its belief in startups' ability to positively impact society.
She went on to say, "In view of the fast advancements in the technology industry and entrepreneurship, Orange is dedicated to offering a platform for financing and technical assistance for new initiatives that use technology to enhance society and the environment. We are proud of our competition's long history of supporting sustainable development and helping to create new solutions that improve people's lives in their communities".

Chelsea loan defender Sarr back to Strasbourg for upcoming season - World
Premier League side Chelsea loaned teenage defender Mamadou Sarr back to sister club Strasbourg on Friday for the upcoming Ligue 1 season. The French club confirmed the loan move on its website, having sold the highly rated Sarr to Chelsea in June. Strasbourg is owned by the consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital that bought Chelsea in 2022. The 19-year-old Sarr is a France under-20 international. He was a regular last season, playing 27 league games as Alsace-based Strasbourg finished in seventh place to seal a place in the Conference League playoffs. He previously played briefly for Lyon. Chelsea won the Conference League last season and will play in the Champions League after finishing in fourth place in the Premier League. Strasbourg was bought by Chelsea's ownership group, BlueCo, in 2023. Chelsea said Sarr had signed a contract until 2033 but didn't disclose the transfer fee. Strasbourg open its league campaign at Metz on Aug. 17. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports.) Newcastle reject Liverpool bid for Isak: Reports - World
Newcastle have rejected Liverpool's opening bid to sign unsettled Sweden striker Alexander Isak, according to reports on Friday. Isak has been training at his old club Real Sociedad this week after reportedly telling Newcastle he wants to leave St James' Park. The 25-year-old has been linked with Liverpool since the end of last season and the Premier League champions are now believed to have formalised their interest with an offer of around £110 million ($159 million) plus potential add-ons. But Newcastle, who reportedly value Isak at £150 million, remain keen to hold onto their prize asset and have rebuffed Liverpool's initial bid. Isak, who joined Newcastle in a £60 million move from Real Sociedad in 2022, scored 23 Premier League goals last season to help Newcastle qualify for the Champions League. He has three years left on his Newcastle contract, but did not travel to Asia for the Magpies' ongoing pre-season tour, with the club saying he had a minor thigh injury. On Thursday, Real Sociedad confirmed he was at their Zubieta facility with his own trainers. It was reported on Friday that Newcastle had told Isak he could agree a new deal containing a get-out clause for next year, but he responded by insisting he wants to move now. Liverpool manager Arne Slot has already bolstered his attacking options by signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike and Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz during the current transfer window. But the Reds are keen to make their forward line even more formidable by adding Isak as they look to win back to back English titles for the first time since the 1980s. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe struck a defiant note earlier this week when he said: "He is still our player. He's contracted to us. "We, to a degree, control what is next for him. I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us. "My wish is that he stays, but that's not in my full control." Liverpool have spent over £250 million so far in the summer window, with Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mamardashvili joining Wirtz and Ekitike at Anfield. Formula One: Ferrari renews team principal Vasseur's contract despite difficult season - Omni sports
Ferrari handed team principal Fred Vasseur a new contract on Thursday in a sign of 'trust in Fred's leadership' following speculation about his future, with the Italian team yet to win a Formula 1 race in 2025. In an announcement ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Ferrari said the new deal was a 'multiple-year contract,' without giving further details. Lewis Hamilton gave Vasseur his backing last month after reports in Italian media suggested his job could be in question. Ferrari last won a race in October and, while it's second in the constructors' championship behind McLaren, neither Hamilton nor Charles Leclerc has consistently been able to challenge the leading McLaren drivers this year. 'Today we want to recognize what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved,' Ferrari chief executive Benedetto Vigna said in a statement. 'It reflects our trust in Fred's leadership — a trust rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations and clear responsibility. We move forward with determination and focus, united in our pursuit of the level of performance Ferrari has to aim for.' Vasseur joined Ferrari as team principal at the start of 2023. He was Hamilton's team boss in junior series in the mid-2000s and played a role in convincing the seven-time champion to leave Mercedes for Ferrari for 2025 in a move which shook up F1. Vasseur also previously worked with Renault and Sauber in F1. Hamilton, who hasn't finished on the podium in a Grand Prix race since joining the Italian team, has been holding meetings with senior executives to push for improvements and a voice in developing the team's car for 2026. Next year brings sweeping changes to the regulations. 'I'm grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me. This renewal is not just a confirmation — it's a challenge to keep progressing, to stay focused, and to deliver,' Vasseur said. "Over the past 30 months, we've laid strong foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination. We know what's expected, and we're all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step forward together.
