Palestinian Issue: MAPIM Sends Urgent Appeal To Leaders Of China, Russia And India
Its president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid said the initiative was part of MAPIM's ongoing efforts to engage global powers in urging the Zionist regime to immediately cease its atrocities against the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza.
'The essence of the letter primarily highlights the increasingly dire situation facing the people of Gaza. MAPIM believes that the Palestinian cause urgently requires the intervention of China, Russia, and India, whose collective influence could exert pressure on Israel and the United States.
'They must play an active role in maintaining continuous pressure, and, at the very least, insist on the immediate opening of the Rafah border to facilitate the delivery of food and medical aid,' he told Bernama here, today.
Last week, MAPIM addressed a formal letter to three world leaders - Chinese President Xi Jinping; Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi - appealing for their attention and action on the Palestinian issue.
Mohd Azmi further said that MAPIM intends to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the near future to discuss the strategic direction of Malaysia's aid efforts for Palestine.
He said that Egypt's efforts to pressure Israel and the United States had shown signs of progress toward reopening the Rafah border crossing, and that this matter will also be brought to the attention of the Prime Minister, with the hope that Malaysia can lend its voice of support.
'To date, 500 MAPIM aid trucks remain stranded at the Rafah border, in addition to 50 containers filled with food, medical supplies, tents, and other essential items which had initially arrived in Egypt,' he said.
Earlier, Mohd Azmi attended the Aidilfitri gathering and delivered the keynote speech at the annual general meeting of the Forum Ekonomi Manusiawi (FEM), at the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam Mosque, here.

REGION - CENTRAL > NEWS KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- The Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties (Amendment) Bill 2025, aimed at protecting local industries from unfair trade practices and ensuring the competitiveness of Malaysian products, was presented for its first reading in the Dewan Rakyat today. Meanwhile, according to the blue copy distributed in the Dewan Rakyat, the Bill, which comprises 21 clauses, seeks to amend the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 (Act 504). bootstrap slideshow The amendment to Act 504 is intended to enhance the legal framework and improve enforcement effectiveness, as well as prevent unfair trade practices in the context of international trade under the World Trade Organisation. Among the amendments is Clause 3, which amends subsection 9(1) to align the investigation period with Article 17.1 of the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, as Malaysia is a member country of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Meanwhile, Clause 4 is aimed at replacing subsection 12(1), enabling the government to suspend any investigation if it receives a pledge from exporting members agreeing to a price adjustment, or to eliminate or limit subsidies. Additionally, Clause 5 seeks to amend Section 12A on countervailing duties imposed under Act 504, stipulating that such duties shall not exceed five years, either from the date of imposition or from the date of the latest expiry of the review period. Clause 10 replaces subsection 27(1), enabling the government to suspend any investigation if it receives an undertaking from exporters to adjust prices or cease exporting to Malaysia at dumping prices. Clause 11 refers to the amendment of Section 27A, stipulating that an anti-dumping duty shall not exceed five years, either from the date of imposition or from the date of expiry of the most recent review.
