IMD predicts cloudy sky with moderate rain in Delhi on Tuesday

A cloudy sky with moderate rain is expected on Tuesday, according to weather forecasts.
In an X post, Mahesh Palawat, vice-president of private weather forecasting agency Skymet, wrote, 'Delhi, get ready to be drenched in monsoon showers on July 28 and 29. The LPA (low pressure area) will move south of Delhi over the northeast." The IMD has forecast thunderstorms with rain on Tuesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures predicted to hover around 30 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The air quality was in the 'satisfactory' category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 86 at 4 pm, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'. PTI MHS AMJ AMJ

Lucknow drenched: Monsoon unleashes 40.4 mm rainfall in 24 hours, 75.1 mm in 33 hours
The monsoon made its presence felt in a big way as the season's heaviest rainfall lashed Lucknow on Sunday. In 24 hours, the state capital received 40.4 mm of rainfall till 8.30am on Sunday. In a span of nine hours, the city recorded 34.7 mm of rain between 8.30 am and 5.30pm on Sunday. This is the highest rainfall that the district experienced this monsoon season. Malihabad tehsil in Lucknow received 52.5 mm of rain between 8.30 am and 2.30 pm. Due to relentless rain, the day temperature dropped to 28.5 degrees Celsius, which is 4.8 degrees below normal. Heavy showers continued in the city even after 5.30pm all through the evening and more rain was in store on Monday when the forecast is for an overcast sky with spells of rain/thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 30 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. There is a warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning very likely at isolated places. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places, said Lucknow met director Manish Ranalkar. Currently, the monsoon trough is passing through Shamli, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow (all in Uttar Pradesh), Chhapra (Bihar), Bankura and Canning (West Bengal). Earlier, on Saturday afternoon, a nearly 45-minute downpour lashed the posh Trans-Gomti areas, Vibhuti Khand and adjoining localities of Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Ansal City and Golf City to leave some stretches in knee-deep water.

Delhi weather: IMD issues heavy rain alert for national capital, says rain to continue throughout the week
Delhi is set to continue to receive rain on Monday, according to the Indian Meteorological department (IMD) forecast. The weather department has said showers are likely in the national capital region throughout the week. The temperature is likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius and 24 degree Celsius. UP braces for more rain, red & orange alerts issued
With active monsoon conditions persisting across Uttar Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for multiple districts in East UP and an orange alert for both East and West UP for the next 24 hours. The IMD has issued orange alerts for districts, including Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Mathura, Hathras, Agra, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and Badaun. Upper air cyclonic circulations over Northeast Bihar, Northwest Bihar, and Northeast Uttar Pradesh, along with another circulation over Punjab, continue to influence weather patterns. A Western Disturbance, positioned about 5.8 km above mean sea level, and the monsoon trough now lying north of its normal position, are contributing to the widespread rainfall. Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in both the meteorological divisions of Uttar Pradesh for the next 48 hours and extremely heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in eastern Uttar Pradesh in the next 24 hours. Monsoon deficit drops to 4% Owing to the incessant overnight rain, Uttar Pradesh's monsoon deficit fell from 6% to 4%. The state has received 365.1 mm of rainfall against a normal of 380.4 mm so far. East UP has received 332.4 mm rain (19% deficit) and West UP 411.9 mm (21% excess) in the current season.
