Franz Ferdinand bring out legendary actor at Glastonbury
The Glasgow band took to the Other Stage on Friday afternoon and announced they were going to bring out a special guest. Lead singer Alex Kapranos teased the audience, telling the crowd they would be bringing out an "Italian heritage Glaswegian that goes by the name of Capaldi." The crowd went wild as rumours had been flying around about Lewis Capaldi making his comeback to the festival. We reported how Lewis, 28, triumphantly returned to the festival's main stage last night, two years after having to leave the same stage. But it was a different Capaldi the band had in store for the adoring Worthy Farm crowd. READ MORE: Lewis Capaldi's special Celtic nod during Glastonbury gig Alex revealed the surprise to cheers: "Well, Glastonbury, it gives me great joy to say that these rumours are true, and he's here with us tonight. The original Capaldi – Peter Capaldi!" The Doctor Who star then took to the stage in a black suit with a red shirt and sunglasses to perform Franz Ferdinand's biggest hit, Take Me Out, with them. Peter oozed cool as he strutted across the stage and looked at home playing with Alex and co. The musician, who announced a break from touring shortly after his performance at the festival in 2023, has just released his new song Survive. The slot was listed as TBA on the Glastonbury website but eagle-eyed fans guessed days ago it would be him, Lewis joked: "It was the worst kept f*****g secret ever." He played his new single, and said getting back to the Pyramid Stage had been his "goal for the last two years," with the song written about his journey. He said: "I've really, really missed doing this over the last two years, and it's been difficult at times to think that maybe this wouldn't happen again. Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, it means the f**king world that everyone's here." During his emotional half-hour set, eagle-eyed fans spotted a reference to the singer's beloved Celtic on stage.
