Astros first baseman Christian Walker is on paternity leave; Kenedy Corona recalled
Walker, who is in his first season with the Astros, is batting .231 with 12 homers and 45 RBIs. He's heated up recently after a slow start and has hit .429 with two homers and eight RBIs in six games this month.
The AL West-leading Astros recalled outfielder Kenedy Corona from Triple-A Sugar Land to take his spot on the roster. The 25-year-old Corona is hitting .228 with six homers and 28 RBIs in the minors this season.
Also Monday, right-hander Jordan Weems cleared waivers and elected free agency.

'Once we set up a match on golf, I just go for it. I see him playing sometimes. There are some videos of him playing golf. I would say he could beat me,' Alcaraz told reporters at the All England Club. Alcaraz, a five-time Grand Slam champion, is bidding to win Wimbledon for a third successive year. In his down-time between matches, the world number two has revealed he likes to switch off from tennis by playing golf and travelling into London. The 22-year-old has already played golf with former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray ahead of this year's tournament. Now he wants a celebrity match-up against Holland, who has been performing on stage in Romeo and Juliet in London. 'I would love to play against him in the golf course. For me it would be such an honour,' Alcaraz said. 'I will try to set it up in these two days that I will have much time to do it. So let's see if he will be available, and we'll tee it up.'

Avalanche add former Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol as assistant to boost power play
DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Avalanche added former Seattle head coach Dave Hakstol to their staff Tuesday as an assistant to boost a power-play unit that struggled in the postseason. Hakstol joins an Avalanche staff under coach Jared Bednar that includes Nolan Pratt, goaltending coach Jussi Parkkila and assistant/video coach Brett Heimlich. The 56-year-old Hakstol will direct a power play that features Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar but scuffled against Dallas in the first round of the playoffs. The team was 3 of 22 on the man advantage in a series that went seven games. Colorado also allowed seven goals in the Stars series while short-handed. After the season, the team parted ways with assistant coach Ray Bennett, who was in charge of the power play. Hakstol served as the first head coach in Kraken history and was in charge from 2021-24. His team made the postseason in 2023 and eliminated the Avalanche in the first round of a series that went seven games. He finished 107-112-27 with Seattle. 'Dave brings a wealth of knowledge and experience behind the bench and will be a great fit on Jared's staff,' Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland said in a statement. 'He has an extensive coaching background with a lot of success and will be a valuable addition to our team.' Hakstol also was the head coach in Philadelphia for parts of four seasons and went 134-101-42.
