PGA Tour Golfer Withdraws From Travelers Championship
The Travelers Championship is set to tee off on Thursday with a star-studded player list including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and others. But one player will be missing his shot at that $20 million purse.

Canadian golfer Corey Conners has withdrawn from the event, PGA Tour officials announced Tuesday, with his spot in the field filled by Jhonattan Vegas. Conners, a two‑time PGA Tour winner, is still recovering from a right wrist injury that also sidelined him at last week's U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club.
Conners originally injured the wrist during Thursday's opening round of the U.S. Open when his club struck a television cable while playing from a bunker. He aggravated the injury again on Saturday's third round and withdrew just hours before his scheduled tee time alongside Ryan Fox.

His playing partner Michael Kim took to X (formerly Twitter) to describe what happened. 'Corey Conners deserves a full page on his own today,' Kim wrote. 'He was obviously in some pain as soon as he hit [that bunker shot] and I didn't think he'd play more honestly'.

Despite the setback, Conners has enjoyed a strong 2025 campaign. Through 16 starts, he has recorded five top‑10 finishes and currently sits tenth in the FedEx Cup standings. At last year's Travelers Championship, he fired back‑to‑back 66s over the weekend to finish in a tie for 27th, one spot ahead of his T9 effort in 2023.
Now 33, Conners will focus on rehabilitation with an eye toward returning to competition at next week's Rocket Mortgage Classic. His replacement, Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas, will make his first start in the Signature Event.

Former Bucks Star Damian Lillard And 3x All-Star Targeted By the Heat
Former Bucks Star Damian Lillard And 3x All-Star Targeted By the Heat originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The 2025 NBA free agency has been a surprising one, especially for the Milwaukee Bucks. Before they secured their new starting center, Myles Turner, the front office waived the injured Damian Lillard. The nine-time All-Star is rehabbing his torn Achilles tendon and is expected to miss the entire 2025-26 season. However, no one thought the Bucks would let him go with nothing in return. Advertisement Now that Lillard is without a team, he has the freedom to choose which organization he'll play for next. Despite suffering from a season-ending injury, the former Portland Trail Blazers star is still sought after by most teams, including the Miami Heat. Before landing in Milwaukee, Lillard expressed his desire to play alongside Jimmy Butler for the Miami Heat. Now that Butler is gone, though, the franchise is still interested in the former Weber State guard to be part of their roster. Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal drives against Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian McLoone-Imagn Images According to "The Stein Line," the Heat are interested in striking a potential deal with Lillard, even though he'll spend most of the time rehabbing. Additionally, Miami is monitoring Bradley Beal, who's still with the Phoenix Suns. Advertisement The Suns and Beal are reportedly exploring options on a potential contract buyout. The NBA insiders reported that if Phoenix buys out the contract of the three-time All-Star, they could add him to the team. 'The Heat, meanwhile, have serious interest in signing Lillard as well as exploring the prospect of adding a bought-out Beal. Yet it's fair to wonder why Lillard would be looking to sign quickly with any team unless he's searching for organizational support as he rehabs from his own Achilles tear," the report read. "Our good friend Chris Haynes reported Thursday evening that Lillard is indeed in no rush to make any decision about his future despite receiving plenty of interest from the Heat and several other teams.' Advertisement While the Heat isn't the biggest rival of the Bucks, there's still concern about the potential of an Eastern Conference team to improve and become a threat. The good news is: Lillard will continue to miss time as he recovers. Straw, the automatic runner, scored from second when Bachman fielded Ernie Clement's sacrifice bunt and overthrew first base. Giménez tweaked his left ankle covering second base on a steal Wednesday and did not play Thursday. He was scheduled for an MRI. Blue Jays left-hander Eric Lauer set down his first 12 batters before Adell doubled to begin the fifth. Toronto's Will Wagner doubled to open the sixth and advanced on a sacrifice before scoring on Giménez's hit. José Fermin replaced Angels starter Kyle Hendricks after Springer's single. Bo Bichette hit an RBI single and another run scored when shortstop Zach Neto bobbled Addison Barger's grounder for an error. Mike Trout and Taylor Ward chased Lauer with back-to-back singles to begin the seventh, and the Angels tied it when Adell greeted reliever Nick Sandlin with his 19th homer. Tyrese Haliburton Reveals Fever Jersey He Needs, and It's Not Caitlin Clark's
Tyrese Haliburton Reveals Fever Jersey He Needs, and It's Not Caitlin Clark's originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While some thought there was a chance that the Indiana Fever would come into Thursday's game against the Las Vegas Aces a tad sluggish, they hit the ground running in a big way. Advertisement The Fever are fresh off an WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship win over the Minnesota Lynx even without star guard Caitlin Clark. They are also fresh off a postgame celebration that seemed to extend well into the night, worrying fans that there would be a bit of a hangover on Thursday evening. However, Indiana quickly silenced those concerns, as they went into halftime with a 46-24 lead, getting a tremendous showing from recently signed guard, Aari McDonald. Through her first 21 minutes of action, McDonald did a bit of everything, recording six points, three assists and also sporting a +/- rating of +22. She also earned a new fan in Indiana Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton. The hero of the Pacers' NBA Finals run this past season took to X to express just how much of a fan he is. Advertisement Indiana Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton is a fan of Indiana Fever guard Aari Terada-Imagn Images "I need a Aari McDonald jersey," wrote Haliburton. The Olympic Gold medalist and two-time NBA All-Star has been a frequent supporter of Clark and the Fever, receiving the same treatment from Clark whom at one point was the Pacers' good luck charm during the playoffs. As for McDonald, she has the epitome of an underdog story. She went from being a temporary player for the Fever—thanks to the WNBA's emergency hardship exception and injuries—to eventually being given a full-time roster spot. Without Clark available, she has picked up the slack in a big way and has also caught the attention of those around the WNBA.
