Arsenal discover huge transfer demand which could scupper latest signing

Arsenal are in the market for several new attackers this summer and have already agreed personal terms with the Chelsea winger Noni Madueke who could soon join them Chelsea are expected to demand more than £50million for Noni Madueke, with Arsenal poised to open talks over a deal for the England star after reaching an agreement on personal terms. The Gunners are keen to strengthen in attack this summer with both a No 9 and a new left winger on their wishlist. And while Rodrygo of Real Madrid is understood to be their top wide-forward target, interest in Madueke, 23, has been well documented over the past week. ‌ Chelsea are open to selling the former PSV Eindhoven star despite his fine form across the 2024-25 campaign. ‌ And while reports have claimed that Arsenal have already struck an agreement on personal terms with Madueke, Chelsea's asking price for the winger could complicate matters. The Telegraph say Chelsea will demand in excess of £50m for Madueke, who is contracted until 2030 and would provide depth on the right-hand side of Arsenal's attack. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will consider a deal for Madueke at that price with the club continuing to pursue multiple other signings, including a huge deal for Viktor Gyokeres. Sporting and Arsenal are now in advanced talks over a deal for the striker, 27, who looks set to lead the line for the Gunners next season. Arsenal have already splashed out around £55m to sign Martin Zubimendi, with another eight-figure fee likely to be needed to prise Christian Norgaard away from Brentford. ‌ And with Arsenal still interested in landing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace AND Cristhian Mosquera, the highly-rated young Valencia centre-back, they may need to cut their cloth accordingly. Enzo Maresca has already said he will not stand in the way of Madueke or any other Blues player who wishes to be elsewhere. The Italian was asked about Arsenal's interest in the winger and replied: "Noni has been very important for us during this season. Today, again, he has been important. ‌ "But my message to the players and to the club is that I want just players that are happy to be with us. The ones that are not happy, they are free to go. "It's not for Noni, it's for all the players we have. But again, Noni has been very good during the season and very good tonight."
