Parents Are Undecided About Allowing Their Nanny to Bring Her Boyfriend to Babysitting Sessions: ‘What Would You Do?'
A Mumsnet user explained that she and her husband are undecided if they should grant their nanny permission to bring her boyfriend whenever she babysits their 7-year-old twins 'Perhaps [the boyfriend] could come once [the twins] are in bed to keep her company?' the twins' mother pondered Fellow Mumsnet users had mixed opinions about this situationTwo parents of 7-year-old twins are on the fence about letting their nanny bring her boyfriend with her when she babysits the kids. The mother explained on the community forum Mumsnet that she and her husband haven't met the boyfriend so they are undecided if they should grant the nanny permission to let him tag along to babysitting sessions. 'My twins have a nanny three days a week. No issues with her at all. She is hardworking, respectful and great with the kids,' the mom wrote. is now available in the Apple App Store! Download it now for the most binge-worthy celeb content, exclusive video clips, astrology updates and more! 'Outside of her usual hours, she will be babysitting on Saturday night from 6 until 11/midnight,' she continued. 'When I parted with her this week, she was roundabout hinting if her boyfriend could join her.' After that, the mom decided to get her husband's thoughts on the matter. 'My husband isn't comfortable with it, but he says he might be overthinking,' she said. 'He can be a protective and anxious dad, which I appreciate, but can wrap them in cotton wool a bit more than I do.' The mom mentioned that the twins met the boyfriend when the nanny took them to her place — 'a farm type place that had lots of nice things to do with kids' — while their parents were on a summer vacation. 'No issues, but we haven't met him personally. However it might be a good opportunity to meet him in person if he is going to be around the twins ever, even if infrequently,' the mom wrote, before offering a potential compromise. 'Perhaps he could come once they are in bed to keep her company? My husband is more comfortable with this idea.' Seeking opinions, the mom asked Mumsnet users, 'What would you do?' One reader replied, 'I suspect that risk is tiny, especially if you think she is a really good nanny she is much less likely to be with someone awful — and your kids are old enough to share any concerns.' Meanwhile, another person disagreed with that user, commenting, 'I wouldn't find it acceptable. She's getting paid to do a job. I can't bring my husband to mine much as I would like that!' Thousands turn out for Ladies' Night at Carlisle Racecourse
SUMMER showers didn't deter the crowds on Saturday evening, as thousands packed into Carlisle Racecourse to celebrate the ever-popular Caledonia Park Ladies' Night. The event, which boasts the only all-female racing card in the country, is a standout date in the Cumbrian social calendar. Advertisement While the stands sparkled with colour and style, the action on the track was thrilling. Eight races saw eight different jockeys claim victory, with wins for Pippa Brown, Gina Mangan, Josephine Gordon, Poppy Scott, Joanna Mason, Freya Williams, and Elizabeth Gale. Gale, from Penrith, rode to victory aboard Showtime Mahomes, the horse featured in the ITV documentary It's Showtime, which tells the uplifting story of how the horse helped its syndicate of owners through personal challenges. Meanwhile, Freya Williams claimed victory in the second annual Stable Staff Charity Race - an event that offers racing staff, who wouldn't normally get the chance to ride competitively, the rare opportunity to race on the track, all in support of Racing Welfare. But it's not all about the racing. Racegoers often spend months preparing their outfits for the occasion and this year was no exception. Advertisement Among hundreds of entries in the highly anticipated Style Awards, the top prize went to local Carlisle resident Jessie Gray. Jessie wowed judges in a vintage-inspired 1950s dress and a handmade boater hat, which she had decorated herself to complement the theme of the hen party she was attending at the Durdar Road venue. Jessie Gray, winner of the style award (Image: Grossick Photography/The Jockey Club) Speaking after her win - which earned her a host of prizes including a spa day at Cairndale, a Dune London gift card, and a luxury bundle from Rituals - Jessie said: 'I can't believe I've won, I really didn't think I would. "It took a couple of months to plan my outfit because I wanted to look nice for my best friend as we're here for her do!' Advertisement Jessie also took home a Radley tote bag, a £100 French Connection voucher, two tickets to Ladies Day at Cheltenham Racecourse, plus much more. Reflecting on the evening, Carlisle Racecourse general manager Helen Willis said: 'We had such a fantastic evening for Caledonia Park Ladies' Night, with so much going on across the site! "We're incredibly proud to host the country's only all-female racing card - it's a wonderful celebration of the depth of talent within the sport. 'We're also hugely grateful to our sponsors, Caledonia Park, who provided the amazing prizes for our Style Awards, which were so well supported.' This year marked the first time the fixture was held on a Saturday night, having moved from its traditional slot on a Monday in August.

Neglected Wife Upset Her Husband Got 'Very Thoughtful' Gift for Female Coworker: 'I Wanted to Burst into Tears'
A woman says she's 'hurt' that her husband got a "very thoughtful" gift for a female coworker She says she and her husband have been together for 24 years, and he has "never been great" with gifts for her The woman detailed her story on a community forum, where the majority of post commenters said she should be 'suspicious' of her spouse's relationship with the other womanA woman says she is 'hurt' that her husband gave a "very thoughtful" gift to a female colleague after years of choosing lackluster gifts for her. The woman detailed her story in a forum on the U.K.-based community site a place where women can go to seek advice from other women about interpersonal issues. In her post, the woman said that she and her spouse have been together for 24 years, and he has 'never been great with gifts.' 'I have dropped hints, asked outright for what I would like [and] all I really want is his time and effort. If he booked dinner out and the cinema or theatre, then I would be happy. I would feel seen,' she said. The original poster (OP) went on to say that she recently saw her husband packing up a going-away gift for a teammate at his office. She also clarified that the teammate is a woman in a follow-up comment. 'It was so very thoughtful,' she said, adding, 'A mug of a band they like, a badge that went with it, a set of gluten free treats he had selected, a record from his personal music collection, a lovely bottle of gin and a really nice coffee that he knows they buy for work.' 'I looked and saw this lovely thoughtful set of gifts and had to leave the room and hide as I wanted to burst into tears,' she continued. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! She goes on to say, 'For my birthday he bought a pack of peanut bars (that I hate), a bottle of gin (nice but I'm not a big drinker) and a beauty product that I already have in the bathroom and a spare one of the same.' 'Why or how can he be so thoughtful with gifts for others but not me?' she asked. The woman said she ultimately brought her feelings up to her husband — but things didn't go over well. 'I didn't scream or shout. I just said that I was hurt that he could be so thoughtful and kind to someone else but not me. That I crave that thoughtfulness,' she said, adding that her husband then called her 'horrible.' 'Am I being unreasonable?' the woman asked at the end of her post. Post commenters were quick to reassure the OP that her feelings were valid — and many said that they thought her husband's behavior was downright suspicious. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. 'You're right to feel upset,' one person said, adding, 'Your husband's response — that you were 'horrible' — is designed to shut you up, stop you talking, stop you asking questions or criticizing him.' 'The fact this colleague is female is extremely worrying and suspicious. He has either already shagged her, or he wants to shag her. He has a massive crush on her. I'm sorry,' said someone else. Others said that regardless of the sex of the colleague, the OP's husband should step up. 'You're not being unreasonable, OP,' one person said. 'Your husband doesn't think he needs to put that effort in for you. If you twist it, you can see it as partly a good thing ... Your husband feels safe and secure with you, and doesn't feel anxious about gift-giving. But without those mental gymnastics, it's actually mostly just s— and you deserve some effort, too.'
