Right call by BCCI
I fully support the BCCI decision for suspending the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a week on Friday due to the escalating tensions and open war between India and Pakistan. A cloud of uncertainty had loomed over the future of the ongoing edition since the cancellation of Thursday's match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala, midway following air raid alerts in neighboring cities of Jammu and Pathankot.
Since the IPL is masala and tamasha matches for entertainment the suspension of it is must as the country is at the war with killing of civilian and solders and continuing it is a great insult. I strongly feel that there should not be any celebration of anything in coming days in the form of religious functions of all the caste and community this year as the mark of respect to the departed soul who have lost their lives in the war and terrorist attack. It is high time people of Indian in this grave situation must unite to fight the enemy like terrorist sponsored by Pakistan.

War on terror: UN must overtly support India
The War stats are very promising for Indian side, as our anti-missile systems are striking down the Pak missiles. Time is ripe for India to wipe out terror camps of Let, JeM and capture their top leaders based in Pakistan and occupy POK. The roots of terror are based in Pakistan, and even they occasionally face attacks by these brutal groups. India now owns the responsibility to end terrorism from Indian sub-continent. The UN must overtly support India in its war on terrorism.

People must behave responsibly
Even as tension between India and Pakistan remains high and retaliatory hostilities continue, a great deal of fake stories and news about it are doing the rounds on social media and some news channels. Warmongers and those who celebrate the conflict and fight between the two countries create stories and videos at their whims and fancies and share at will on social media. Similarly, some news channels also disseminate misinformation about the fight. They even go to the extent of telecasting videos taken from other warfronts and thereby mislead people.
Those who indulge in passing on such misinformation must understand the gravity of their actions. A country at war with another has to take into account a lot of things before the fight. India is fighting against Pakistan not for people's entertainment and excitement but to prove something. It has to send a message to its rival through the fight. The Indian government has issued an advisory saying that people should avoid sharing unverified information and rely on official sources for authentic information. People must refrain from passing on misinformation and stand united at a time when the country is faced with a crisis.

SC raps BJP MP Nishant Dubey
The Supreme Court has rapped BJP MP Nishant Dubey for his remarks against it and Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, saying they 'scandalise' and lower the authority of apex court. The top court, in a way, put an end to recent political debates as to who is supreme Parliament or the judiciary. It is the Constitution that is higher than all of us. It is the Constitution which imposes limits and restrictions on the powers vested in the three organs. The power of judicial review is conferred by the Constitution on the judiciary.
Statutes are subject to judicial review to test their constitutionality as well as for judicial interpretation. Therefore, when the constitutional courts exercise their power of judicial review, they act within the framework of the Constitution. The top court, which spared the lawmaker from the contempt proceedings by dismissing a PIL, made scathing observations against Dubey for his remarks against it and the CJI following the hearings on a batch of petitions challenging the validity of the 2025 Waqf law. Dubey sparked a row when he said, 'the Supreme Court is taking the country towards anarchy' and that 'Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna is responsible for the civil wars taking place in the country'. The comments were stated to be 'highly irresponsible', reflecting a penchant to attract attention by casting aspersions on the Supreme Court of India and its judges.

Parliament Monsoon Session Live Updates: Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha to resume today following clash over Operation Sindoor

Parliament Session Live Updates: The Monsoon Session of Parliament will resume on Wednesday at 11am in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, a day after proceedings were adjourned following a charged debate on Operation Sindoor — India's military response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Tuesday's session witnessed intense political back-and-forth, with sharp exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address, praised the Armed Forces for their swift and decisive action. Calling it 'the new normal,' he said India would no longer tolerate cross-border terrorism. He also stressed that India acted independently, without external pressure, stating, 'Told US Vice President that if Pakistan attacks India, our attack would be much bigger as we will respond to bullets with cannons.' Modi made it clear that no world leader had asked India to stop its military operation, underscoring the government's firm stance on national security. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, however, accused the government of holding back the Armed Forces. He claimed the loss of Indian aircraft during the operation was a result of political restrictions placed on the military. 'The aircraft were lost because of constraints given by the political leadership to not attack the military and air defence infrastructure of Pakistan,' he said. Gandhi further alleged that Pakistan was pre-informed that its military infrastructure would not be targeted.

Kids lose parents in Pak shelling: Rahul Gandhi to sponsor education of 22 children

Rajouri/Jammu: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will sponsor the education of 22 children who lost either one or both parents in the Pakistani shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir during Operation Sindoor, a party leader has said. Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hameed Karra also refuted any differences with the pre-poll alliance partner National Conference (NC) but said his party is waiting for formation of coordination committee with the ruling party for the past nine months. 'A lot of civilian casualties and damage to properties took place in Poonch and Rajouri (between May 7 and 10) in Pakistani shelling. Rahul Gandhi visited Poonch in the aftermath of the devastating shelling and visited the bereaved families. He asked us to prepare a list of school-going children who lost one or both parents, especially the breadwinners, and accordingly we submitted the list to him,' Karra, who reached Rajouri on a three-day tour of the region, told reporters late Monday. He said the party has a list of 22 such children in the Poonch district alone, and more such children might be included at the end of the three-day visit. Poonch district alone accounted for 13 civilian deaths among 28 fatalities in the Pakistani shelling and drone attacks in Jammu and Kashmir after the Indian armed forces carried out missile strikes on terror infrastructure across the border under Operation Sindoor in May in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 persons, mostly tourists, dead.

BJP MP Urges Delhi Police To Book Mamata Over Post Claiming Assault Of Bengali Woman

BJP MP urged Delhi Police to register a case against Mamata under IT Act and check the original social media post, and initiate legal action against her. Bharatiya Janata Party MP Soumendu Adhikari, brother of Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of spreading fake news on social media. He urged the police to register a case against the Bengal CM under the IT Act and save and check the original social media post, and initiate legal action against her. This comes after Mamata recently shared a video on social media, claiming that a Bengali-speaking woman and her child were assaulted in the national capital for speaking their language – a charge firmly denied by the Delhi Police as 'fabricated" and 'politically motivated". She later claimed that the woman and the child were 'threatened". They were taken to various police stations just as I had predicted yesterday. They were threatened. We want them to come back, and whoever is speaking the truth and who is lying will be proved eventually," news agency PTI quoted her as saying. In his letter to the SHO of the Cyber Crime Branch of Delhi Police, the BJP MP accused the Bengal Chief Minister of spreading false information to damage the image of the city police and create public unrest. The Indian Express reported. He claimed that such a post made by an individual holding a constitutional position had widespread reach, triggering public outrage and harming the reputation of the police. Delhi's Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania earlier said that the cops had taken note of the video shared by Mamata on X. 'During sustained questioning, the woman admitted that her relative, a political worker from Malda district in West Bengal, had asked her to make the video. The video was then circulated locally in Bengal and later surfaced on social media," he said. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
