Stock market today: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq futures rise as Trump-EU trade deal kicks off huge week in markets
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures (YM=F) were up about 0.1%, while S&P 500 futures (ES=F) gained 0.2%. Nasdaq 100 futures (NQ=F) put on roughly 0.4%, after the three major indexes closed Friday with gains.
The US and EU have agreed on a framework deal to set Trump's tariffs on Europe's goods at a baseline 15%, compared with the 30% threatened. Trump called the pact 'the biggest of them all,' while von der Leyen said that "15% is not to be underestimated, but it is the best we could get."
The news eased fears of a harmful trade war and boosted market sentiment, putting stocks on track to resume a rally that saw the S&P 500 (^GSPC) notch its fifth all-time high in a row on Friday.

At the same time, hopes are rising for a US-China deal. Officials are meeting for talks in Stockholm on Monday to tackle roadblocks and to extend the existing tariff truce by three months, media reports said. Beijing currently faces an Aug, 12 due date for higher US levies, while other countries race to beat Friday's deadline.
Investor eyes are now turning to a jam-packed week on Wall Street. Heavyweight earnings highlight the most intense stretch of the season, with more than 150 S&P 500 companies set to report. Meta Platforms (META) and Microsoft (MSFT) lead off Wednesday, followed by Amazon (AMZN) and Apple (AAPL) on Thursday.

Beyond earnings, the Fed begins its two-day policy meeting on Tuesday, with an interest-rate decision expected Wednesday afternoon. While the central bank is expected to keep rates at 4.25%-4.50%, the watch is on for signs that policymakers are warming to a rate cut in September.
It all comes alongside legal battles to open up the Fed's meetings to investor eyes, as well as Trump's general pressure on the central bank and Chair Jerome Powell.
On the data front, inflation and labor will be in the spotlight. The July reading of the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) index, the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, is forecast to show a modest monthly and annual uptick on its release on Thursday.
Also on deck: a flurry of jobs data. Tuesday's JOLTS update and Wednesday's ADP private payrolls print will set the stage for the crucial July jobs report on Friday.

Real Madrid want to use Florian Wirtz in Rodrygo deal
Liverpool cool interest in Rodrygo Rodrygo, 24, is being lined up for a sale by Real Madrid during this transfer window. The two-time Champions League winner is under contract until 2029 - but is set to be offloaded by new coach Xabi Alonso. Tottenham appear to be now in the lead for the Brazil international - with Liverpool's interest said to be cooling. With Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha as left-wing options - not to mention Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike - Liverpool are well stocked in the position. While Rodrygo is a great player in his own right the deal just wouldn't make sense on a financial level for the Reds. Rodrygo's exorbitant costs For one, there's the wages. The latest reports indicate that Rodrygo would command around €400k per week - parity with Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah. And then there's the €100m transfer fee - which Liverpool may have inadvertently help set. That's according to a new report in Defensa Central, which claims Real Madrid are USING Wirtz's fee to set the price for Rodrygo. © IMAGO - Rodrygo Liverpool Madrid use Wirtz valuation to set Rodrygo price 'If they paid 140 million for him… Rodrygo can't cost less than 100,' Defensa Central quotes a Real Madrid source as saying. Liverpool have acquired a player on the up - coveted by all the biggest teams in Europe including Madrid and Manchester City. Rodrygo on the other hand would cost MORE in wages and Madrid clearly feel he is already on the wane. Wirtz is far more of a sure thing than Rodrygo at this stage of their respective careers. Try as they like, Madrid are simply not going to convince Liverpool to pay €100m for a cast-off.

Lam Research forecasts upbeat quarterly revenue on strong chip equipment demand
(Reuters) -Lam Research forecast first-quarter revenue above Wall Street expectations on Wednesday, driven by strong demand for its specialized chip-making equipment used in developing advanced artificial intelligence processors, sending its shares up over 4% in extended trading. Demand for Lam's equipment has been bolstered by a surge in orders for artificial intelligence semiconductors, with chip designers striving to develop advanced processors to meet growing computing needs. However, tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump have introduced volatility into the chip industry, prompting firms to reassess costs and seek clarity on the potential impact of the duties. Dutch firm ASML, the world's biggest supplier of computer chip-making equipment, warned earlier this month that it may not achieve revenue growth in 2026. Lam forecast first-quarter revenue of $5.20 billion, plus or minus $300 million, compared with estimates of $4.63 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG. It forecast quarterly adjusted earnings per share of $1.20, plus or minus 10 cents, while analysts expect $1 per share. The company reported revenue of $5.17 billion for the quarter ended June 29, beating estimates of $5.01 billion. Lam reported quarterly earnings per share of $1.35, compared with a profit of 78 cents per share, a year ago. Sign in to access your portfolio

Reddit set to report Q2 earnings as Wall Street scrutinizes daily active user growth
Reddit (RDDT) is set to report second quarter earnings after the bell Thursday as Wall Street scrutinizes how changes to Google Search's algorithm could affect the social media platform's daily active users, which fell below expectations in the US in the past two quarters. Wall Street analysts tracked by Bloomberg expect Reddit to report earnings per share of $0.72, up from last year's loss per share of $0.06. They project the company's second quarter revenue to hit $425 million, up 50% from the prior year, according to Bloomberg data. Analysts expect global daily active users to climb 20% from the prior year to roughly 110 million for the period and US users to rise more than 9% to 50.5 million. Reddit shares sank following its quarterly reports in February and May despite earnings and revenue beating Wall Street's expectations, as changes to Google (GOOG) Search's algorithm created volatility in traffic to the site. Google accounts for 40% to 50% of Reddit's traffic, according to JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth, who holds a Neutral rating on the stock. Investors are concerned that Reddit's global daily active user growth is slowing. Daily active users (DAUs) increased 47% in the third quarter of 2024, 39% in the fourth quarter, and 31% in the first quarter of 2025. Following Reddit's first quarter results on May 1, CEO Steve Huffman spoke about the issue, saying that "given that the search ecosystem is under heavy construction, the near term could be more bumpy than usual." "[W]e expect the market to focus on the DAU trajectory, even if RDDT delivers another material beat on Revenue/EBITDA," Jefferies analyst John Colantuoni wrote in a note to investors Monday, maintaining his Buy rating on Reddit stock. Reddit shares have partly recovered losses earlier in the year, climbing roughly 70% from the stock's low of about $87 in early April. The stock spiked in June after the company launched new AI ad tools for marketers at the Cannes Lions Festival. Still, Reddit trades far below the highs above $220 seen in February before its fourth quarter earnings report, and shares are down nearly 10% in 2025. Analysts at Needham, Deutsche Bank, Jefferies, and Raymond James reiterated their Buy ratings on the stock in notes to clients in the days leading up to Reddit's report, as concerns over volatility in its traffic waned. "The bear case (that Google Search will no longer send traffic to RDDT) is not playing out," Needham analyst Laura Martin wrote. She added: "AI-driven ad tools ... suggest RDDT is already monetizing GenAI." Meanwhile, Jefferies' Colantuoni, citing web traffic data, said in a note that daily active user growth stabilized in the past three months after decelerating throughout the first quarter.
