Caitlin Clark opens up about her friendship with Paige Bueckers amid WNBA rookie season
Ahead of the Indiana Fever's crucial showdown against the Wings, Caitlin Clark addressed the curiosity around her relationship with Paige Bueckers. Though their careers have taken different paths, Clark leading the Iowa Hawkeyes to national prominence, and Bueckers anchoring the legendary UConn Huskies, both women have shared respect and admiration over the years.
And Clark didn't shy away from setting the record straight.
'I mean, we've always been friends. I wouldn't say we're best friends and talk all the time. It's hard when you end up going your separate ways and are at different colleges,' Clark said, via the Fever's official YouTube channel.
'I've always been a fan of hers and always been supportive. And I watch as much as I can, just because I love basketball and I love people that compete, and make their team better.

Her praise didn't stop there. 'But I just admire the way she plays, I admire the confidence she has in herself. Every single night, she steps up to the challenge, she doesn't shy away from anything. And as a competitor, that's what you really love,' Clark said.
Bueckers returned the sentiment after the game, speaking about their matchup. 'It's fun anytime we can compete against each other,' she said.
'We're two competitors who just wanna win, who have grown up to be playing against each other, playing with each other. So, it's great. The environment is great here. I feel like every game has been sold out, so they have a great homecourt advantage.'

Stephen Curry gets heartfelt support from Jimmy Butler in Tahoe amid offseason break
Jimmy Butler showed up to support Stephen Curry. Image via: Noah Graham/NBAE via Getty Images The Golden State Warriors teammates Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler have recently grabbed attention after a clip of the duo appeared online. Butler came to support Curry in Tahoe as the Warriors veteran having his best of time playing golf. Stephen Curry's attempt to reclaim his American Century Championship crown certainly got a surprise boost from Butler. As Curry stepped into the final round of the celebrity golf tournament in South Lake Tahoe, Butler's courtside energy followed him to the fairways. The four-time NBA champion was locked in and rising through the ranks on Sunday, and the presence of Butler, who joined the Warriors earlier this year, added to the moral support. Jimmy Butler backs Stephen Curry in heartfelt Tahoe appearance during offseason golf showdown Jimmy Butler's unexpected appearance at Edgewood Tahoe showed the growing chemistry between two elite competitors. Despite being fresh off a playoff exit, Butler made the trip to stand behind his teammate during the ACC tournament's final stretch. 'Some familiar faces made it to Tahoe,' the Golden State Warriors posted on X, alongside a video of Butler patiently waiting for Curry on the course. Their growing friendship has been one of the more exciting developments for Warriors fans since Butler was acquired in a blockbuster five-team deal. The trade sent Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, and a protected first-round pick out the door in exchange for Butler. Butler and Curry, who last played together on May 14 in the Western Conference semifinals against the Timberwolves, are using this offseason to strengthen their off-court bond before heading into their first full campaign as teammates this fall. Butler's late-season arrival already paid off in flashes, and now the duo looks poised to lead a new era for the Warriors. Curry, meanwhile, returned to the American Century Championship after missing last year's tournament due to his Olympic commitments in Paris. The 2023 champion didn't take his prep lightly, even if his words hinted at a relaxed approach. 'So I've learned playing in this tournament for what, 10, 11 years, you have expectations, and you're trying to, it's almost like pulling an all-nighter for a test, trying to cram everything," Curry said. "Because, you know, I play a decent amount, but nobody ever says, 'I play enough golf or practice enough.' So as long as I have a good idea of what I'm trying to do, I can just live with the results, which is where I'm now.' Though Curry couldn't capture the title, finishing tied for third with 58 points, his Sunday surge, rising from T9 to T3, marked his best showing of the weekend. With Butler looking on, he even edged out former NFL stars and fan favorites like Tony Romo, Adam Thielen, and Taylor Twellman. It was not all. Curry also showed a glimpse of his basketball brilliance as he shot a splendid throw from the tee box and casually walked away. Joe Pavelski trades ice for greens and dominates American Century celebrity golf event in surprise victory
Joe Pavelski leaves NFL and NBA stars behind with unexpected win at star-studded golf tournament (AP Photos) Joe Pavelski turned 41 over the weekend, and he couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift. The former NHL star delivered a commanding performance at the American Century Championship in Edgewood Tahoe, securing a wire-to-wire win and sealing it with a spectacular eagle on the final day. With a 29-point round using the modified Stableford scoring system, Pavelski finished with 73 points—nine ahead of his closest rival, former MLB pitcher John Smoltz. Joe Pavelski beats NFL, NBA legends to claim American Century celebrity golf crown in epic finish Pavelski, who had narrowly missed the title last year to Mardy Fish, returned with determination and poise. This year, he wouldn't settle for second. His consistent play over the three rounds was capped off by a dramatic final hole that left the crowd in awe. 'I don't know what to say, actually,' Pavelski admitted post-win. 'But just an amazing week. This place is incredible. It means the world to me.' For his victory, Pavelski took home $150,000 from the $750,000 prize pool, a fitting reward for his near-flawless run throughout the tournament. Smoltz, who finished with 28 points on the final day and a total of 64, gave credit to Pavelski's performance while reflecting on his own game. 'I was trying to put heat on anybody, the top three,' Smoltz said. 'I was just trying to climb as many people as I could.' The leaderboard saw a mix of athletes and entertainers battling for top spots. Country singer Jake Owen impressed with a 21-point round, finishing third with 62 points. Former U.S. soccer star Taylor Twellman, who had shared the lead with Pavelski after the second round, dropped to fourth with 61 points after posting 17 on the final day. NBA sharpshooter and 2023 champion Stephen Curry ended fifth with 58, highlighted by a strong 23-point final round. Meanwhile, Charles Barkley, a perennial fan favorite, finished near the bottom of the 90-player field with minus-17 points. Pavelski's performance shows his golf skills but also highlights his competitive spirit—proving once again that champions never fade, they simply switch arenas.
