Family flags lawsuit as Victorian teen charged with multiple terror offences
Last Thursday, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) raided the home of the 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Counter-terrorism officers subsequently charged him with four terror offences, including using a carriage service to make threats to kill, threatening force or violence against groups, and possessing and using violent extremist material.
The teen faced a Children's Court hearing last Friday
While the AFP confirmed the boy had been charged, it would not say when the alleged offences happened.
The teen was remanded in custody at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct and is expected to re-appear in the Children's Court in coming weeks.
It is understood he has been the subject of a year-long investigation by the AFP.
The boy's father said dozens of federal police officers raided their home late on Thursday afternoon.
He told the ABC he still has not seen the charges against his son.
But an AFP spokesperson confirmed the boy had been charged by the Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team.
"There is no impending threat to the community," she said.
"Further comment will be made at an appropriate time."
The boy's family said it was pursuing a separate civil lawsuit against police over their actions in investigating their son.

According to the park's website, there are around five to nine crocs per kilometre. Late last year, two men had to be rescued after their ute washed off the road and swept to its side, forcing them to climb out the window and take refuge on the side of the vehicle. A spokesperson told at the time that traditional owners at the park are disappointed at the behaviour, noting it 'puts everyone involved at risk of injury or even death.' Just one month earlier, chilling video emerged of careless families fishing while a young child played at the water's edge of the river. In the clip, a young boy could be seen climbing over rocks in the murky water as a large number of huge saltwater crocodiles lurked nearby. Kakadu continues to urge people to practice croc safety, reminding visitors that 'crocodiles usually hunt by staying submerged and can attack in knee-deep water.' 'Observe all safety warnings, always be aware of you surroundings, maintain a safe distance from the waters' edge and never swim alone.'

Passenger tackled after bomb threat on flight sparks terror
A man has sparked chaos after announcing he had 'a bomb' during a flight to Glasgow on Sunday morning. Disturbing footage shows the moment passengers on the 7am easyJet flight from London's Luton Airport tackled the man after he yelled out 'Death to America' and 'Death to Trump.' He then screamed 'Find the bomb on the plane' before chanting 'Allahu Akbar,' which translates to 'God is great' in Arabic. A male passenger can be seen pinning him to the ground as another passenger sat on him, telling him to sit down and not move. Other passengers can then be heard questioning if he was with someone else and whether he 'had a bomb' before demanding to 'check his pockets.' 'Have you been drinking, have you been doing drugs?,' questions one passenger. Further footage shows authorities boarding the aircraft upon its arrival and arresting the man while he is still on the floor. 'You're calm now, are you going to be calm when I stand you up?,' asks an officer. 'I'm calm now,' replies the man. As he's being escorted off the plane he can be heard questioning the whereabouts of his phone and wallet to which a passenger yells 'F**k off,' drawing laughs from the plane. A spokesperson for easyJet told local media: 'Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour on board. 'easyJet's crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety on the flight and other customers are not compromised at any time. 'The safety of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority,' they said. A Police Scotland spokesperson also added that the man 'remains in custody.' 'We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8.20am on Sunday, 27 July. 'Officers boarded the plane on its arrival and a 41-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are continuing. 'At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved. 'We are aware of videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers,' they said. One woman took to Facebook to detail and the 'frightening and traumatic' experience. 'This is what happened this morning. I was sleepy and tired and ten minutes before landing a random man stood up and shouted, 'I have a bomb and I am going to kill everyone. F**k Donald Trump.' 'It was so frightening and traumatic.' The incident comes amid President Trump's five-day visit to Scotland that has seen mass protests break out across the country, with residents displaying signs such as: 'Scotland hates Trump' and 'Veto the Cheeto.'
