Passenger tackled after bomb threat on flight sparks terror

News.com.au21 hours ago
A man has sparked chaos after announcing he had 'a bomb' during a flight to Glasgow on Sunday morning.
Disturbing footage shows the moment passengers on the 7am easyJet flight from London's Luton Airport tackled the man after he yelled out 'Death to America' and 'Death to Trump.'
He then screamed 'Find the bomb on the plane' before chanting 'Allahu Akbar,' which translates to 'God is great' in Arabic.
A male passenger can be seen pinning him to the ground as another passenger sat on him, telling him to sit down and not move.
Other passengers can then be heard questioning if he was with someone else and whether he 'had a bomb' before demanding to 'check his pockets.'
'Have you been drinking, have you been doing drugs?,' questions one passenger.
Further footage shows authorities boarding the aircraft upon its arrival and arresting the man while he is still on the floor.
'You're calm now, are you going to be calm when I stand you up?,' asks an officer.
'I'm calm now,' replies the man.
As he's being escorted off the plane he can be heard questioning the whereabouts of his phone and wallet to which a passenger yells 'F**k off,' drawing laughs from the plane.
A spokesperson for easyJet told local media: 'Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour on board.
'easyJet's crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety on the flight and other customers are not compromised at any time.
'The safety of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority,' they said.
A Police Scotland spokesperson also added that the man 'remains in custody.'
'We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8.20am on Sunday, 27 July.
'Officers boarded the plane on its arrival and a 41-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are continuing.
'At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved.
'We are aware of videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers,' they said.
One woman took to Facebook to detail and the 'frightening and traumatic' experience.
'This is what happened this morning. I was sleepy and tired and ten minutes before landing a random man stood up and shouted, 'I have a bomb and I am going to kill everyone. F**k Donald Trump.'
'It was so frightening and traumatic.'
The incident comes amid President Trump's five-day visit to Scotland that has seen mass protests break out across the country, with residents displaying signs such as: 'Scotland hates Trump' and 'Veto the Cheeto.'

Jeffrey Epstein thrown out of Mar-a-Lago for hiring the help: Donald Trump

President Donald Trump revealed what made him stop speaking to Jeffrey Epstein for years, as he detailed how the disgraced financier "did something that was inappropriate" while visiting his Florida home. While speaking to reporters during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the Trump Turnberry golf course in Turnberry, Scotland, on Monday, Trump said Epstein was previously thrown out of his Palm Beach Mar-a-Lago estate for attempting to hire his employees. The pair reportedly fell out of touch in 2004 following a dispute over Trump outbidding Epstein in a bankruptcy auction for a coastal estate, according to The Palm Beach Post. "He stole people that worked for me," Trump said. "I said, 'Don't ever do that again.' He did it again, and I threw him out of the place, persona non grata." Trump went on to add that he "never had the privilege of going to [Epstein's] island." "I did turn it down, but a lot of people in Palm Beach were invited to his island," Trump told reporters. "In one of my very good moments, I turned it down. I didn't want to go to his island." Conversations surrounding Epstein have remained in the national spotlight in recent weeks, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche traveling to Florida last week for two days of meetings with convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. Trump has not ruled out a potential pardon for Maxwell, previously commenting that "It's something I'm allowed to do, but it's something I have not thought about." Last week, Maxwell was slapped with a subpoena from a House subcommittee as lawmakers continue to seek answers surrounding the scope of Epstein's crimes. "Republicans on the Oversight Committee were going to move to be more aggressive in trying to get transparency with the Epstein files," Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said, according to The Associated Press. "So, we did that, and I think that's what the American people want." The White House told Fox News Digital on Monday that it had "Nothing to add past the President's remarks." I turned down an invitation to Epstein's island: Trump

(AP PHOTO) Credit: AAP US President Donald Trump says he "never had the privilege" of visiting Jeffrey Epstein's island, saying he turned down an invitation from the convicted sex offender in what the president called a moment of good judgment. Trump's remarks were his latest effort to distance himself from the political furore over his administration's handling of files related to Epstein's case and renewed questions over his past relationship with the disgraced financier, who died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019. "I never had the privilege of going to his island, and I did turn it down," Trump told reporters during a trip to Scotland. "In one of my very good moments, I turned it down." Epstein owned a private island in the US Virgin Islands where he entertained prominent people from politics, business and entertainment. Prosecutors have alleged he used the compound to conceal the sex trafficking and abuse of under-age victims. Trump, who socialised with Epstein in the 1990s and early 2000s, also offered new insight into why their relationship ended. The US president said he cut ties after Epstein attempted to recruit staff who worked for Trump. "He hired help. And I said, 'Don't ever do that again.' He stole people that work for me," Trump said. "He did it again. And I threw him out of the place persona non grata." Last week, White House communications director Steven Cheung said Trump had cut ties with Epstein because he regarded him as a "creep." The White House has been under growing pressure from Trump's supporters and political opponents to release more information about the Justice Department's investigation into Epstein. After Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this year promised to release additional materials related to possible Epstein clients and the circumstances surrounding his death, the Justice Department reversed course this month and issued a memo concluding there was no basis to continue investigating and no evidence of a client list. Those findings sparked an angry outcry from some of Trump's supporters who have long believed the government was covering up Epstein's ties to the rich and powerful. Trump's efforts to deflect attention from the case have so far faltered. On Monday, the president again called the story "a hoax." "It's a hoax that's been built up way beyond proportion," Trump said, saying Democrats controlled the Epstein files for several years and would have used them against him during the last presidential election if there was anything in them. Trump flew with Epstein aboard his plane at least six times, according to logs for flights spanning from 1991 through 2005. None of those trips were to Epstein's private island. Trump has denied ever being on the plane and has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

Trump reveals claimed reason for fallout with Jeffrey Epstein

Your web browser is no longer supported. To improve your experience update it here US President Donald Trump says that he ended his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and threw the now-disgraced financier out of his private club in Florida after Epstein betrayed him more than once by hiring people who had worked for him. Trump did not say what the people's jobs were or where they worked, and the White House had no immediate comment. But with the fresh comments, Trump shed a little light on the reason why he has said he had ended the relationship with Epstein, though Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, recently said on X that, "The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep.' Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump pictured together in the 1990s. (CNN) Epstein killed himself, authorities say, in a New York jail cell in 2019 as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges. Trump and his top allies stoked conspiracy theories about Epstein's death before Trump returned to power and are now struggling to manage the fallout after the Justice Department said Epstein did in fact die by suicide and that it would not release additional documents about the case. The president and his allies, some of whom are now in the administration, had promised to release the files. The case has dogged Trump at home and abroad and even followed Vice President JD Vance during an appearance in his home state of Ohio on Monday. A small group of protesters assembled outside a factory in Canton that Vance toured, holding signs that spelled out 'JD Protects Pedophiles' and indicating that 'GOP' stands for 'Guardians Of Pedophiles.' (AP) The Republican president spoke at his golf property in Turnberry, Scotland, as he sat with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer after the leaders had met and were answering questions from US and UK journalists. Asked to explain why the relationship had faltered, Trump said, 'That's such old history, very easy to explain, but I don't want to waste your time by explaining it.' He then explained, saying he stopped talking to Epstein after 'he did something that was inappropriate.' Trump with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland. He did it again, and I threw him out of the place, persona non grata. 'I threw him out and that was it. I'm glad I did, if you want to know the truth." Trump recently directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to seek the public release of sealed grand jury transcripts in the case. One federal judge has denied that request; a second judge has yet to rule. Vance on Monday visited the factory to promote Trump's tax cut and border bill, but also addressed the Epstein matter, saying the president wants 'full transparency' in the case. 'The president has been very clear. We're not shielding anything," Vance said in response to a reporter's question. 'The president has directed the attorney general to release all credible information and, frankly, to go and find additional credible information related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.' 'Some of that stuff takes time,' Vance said, adding that Trump has been 'very clear. He wants full transparency.' Trump had said back in 2019 that Epstein was a fixture in Palm Beach but that the two had had a falling-out a long time ago and he hadn't spoken with Epstein for 15 years. Trump again also denied contributing to a compilation of letters and drawings to mark Epstein's 50th birthday, first reported on by the Wall Street Journal . The newspaper said the letter believed to be from Trump included a drawing of a woman's body. 'I don't do drawings of women, that I can tell you,' Trump said.
