Police investigate viral Bukit Tambun Toll Plaza altercation

NIBONG TEBAL: Police have received two reports regarding an altercation involving two men at the Bukit Tambun Toll Plaza here, after a video of the incident went viral on social media today.
Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) District Police chief Supt Jay January Siowou said further investigations were ongoing, and efforts to trace the suspects involved were being carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division (BSJ) of the SPS District Police Headquarters (IPD).
'Police detected a 28-second video that went viral on social media showing a misunderstanding between two road users at the RFID lane of the Bukit Tambun Toll Plaza, heading south, at about 5.15 pm today.
'The incident involved a rear-end collision which led to an argument, property damage, as well as allegations of physical assault and criminal intimidation by one of the individuals involved,' he said in a statement tonight.
He said the video, which was recorded using a dashboard camera, had gone viral and sparked various reactions from the public.
He added that investigations were being conducted under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Earlier, a video clip had gone viral on social media, showing an argument between two men at the Bukit Tambun Toll Plaza, with one of them, who was only wearing a sarong and a cap, seen attempting to attack using a weapon before both were calmed down by another individual present at the scene.

Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old woman was charged with three counts of committing criminal breach of trust involving RM587,004. Rabiahtul Adawiah Pastor pleaded not guilty to all the charges against her before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, on Thursday. Advertisement On the first count, Rabiahtul, as accountant and finance executive of Syarikat Yaza Communications Sdn Bhd which entrusted her with the money amounting to RM273,802.64 belonging to the company, allegedly breached the trust by misusing the company property by transferring the money into the Tropika Ujana Enterprise's bank account. The offence allegedly took place between Jan 6, 2022 and Oct 30, 2023 at the Syarikat Yaza Communications Sdn Bhd in Pusat Dagangan Putatan. On the second count, she is accused of committing the offence by transferring money amounting RM263,758.50 to Mah Group's bank account at the same place between Jan 14, 2022 and Oct 27, 2023. On the third count, she allegedly committed the offence by transferring money amounting to RM49,330 to a bank account belonged to Kasturi Indah Enterprise at the same place between Nov 30, 2022 and Oct 27, 2023. The offence under Section 408 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between one and 14 years, whipping and liable to a fine, on conviction. The court set Aug 5 this year for case management and Rabiahtul was released on bail of RM5,000 in two local sureties. Fadhil Salleh Kasim pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya to the charge against him. Advertisement He had breached the trust given to him as a sales assistant of a supermarket which entrusted him RM10,550 at 7.30pm on June 7 at the supermarket in Semporna. Fadhil had withdrawn the cash without the knowledge of his superiors, which constituted a breach of legal contract.
