Five beauty hacks to look better during a heatwave
This means, of course, being extra diligent with sun protection. (SPF is not just for holidays!) But while your mind may be preoccupied with the thought of a new pair of sandals for the warmer weather, think also of the beauty implications of the heat. They are not desirable, for the most part: sweaty, shiny skin and frizzy hair come to mind.
Fear not. A couple of key weatherproofing products will help see you through the mini heatwave.
Heat-proof make-up
As soon as the weather warms up, we need to rethink our base makeup. Ditch your usual foundation and apply concealer where you need it with a light translucent powder over the t-zone if you need it. By Terry's Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder is a best-seller for a reason. It hydrates the skin while reducing shine, so it is perfect for midlife skin.
It might be good to switch to a more matte formula on the lips rather than anything too shiny. The Bisou Balms by Violette FR work really well to impart a powdery hint of colour on the lips without feeling too dry. The brand's latest shade, Mon Cheri, is a suits-everyone nude-brown.
And of course, eyelashes will benefit from a waterproof mascara in the heat to avoid panda eyes. A really good option for a waterproof mascara is the Maybelline Lash Sensation Sky High Waterproof mascara. However, if you'd prefer not to use a waterproof formula, try a tubing mascara instead. These humid-proof heroes create little tubes around the lashes to add volume and length, without going crusty or flaky. Once you're ready to remove the mascara, you simply 'roll' the tubes away with warm water. The Unlocked Instant Mascara by Hourglass is one of the best around.
Anti-shine essentials
Start thinking about keeping your skin cool from the moment you put on your moisturiser. If you are prone to oily skin, try switching to a lighter moisturiser, such as the Light Moisturiser by Skin Rocks, £56. (As an added bonus, this cream is available in fragrance and fragrance-free formulas.) Next, find a UV protector and make-up primer in one: Murad Oil And Pore Control Mattifier SPF45 PA++++, protects, mattifies and keeps your make-up place.
While blotting papers have been around for decades, they really do help to keep shine at bay. The Aburatorigami Japanese Blotting Papers by Tatcha are highly effective and slim enough to slot into your purse.
Cooling facial spritz
If you really feel the heat, a cooling face spritz is a saviour. Not only will they freshen up the skin, they will also add moisture back into the skin (excessive sweating can leave the skin feeling dehydrated). We love the Spots and Stripes Refreshing Face Mist or the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra 8 Face Mist.
Heat-busting hair
'A ponytail is always good for a heatwave because it keeps you cool,' says Paul Percival, co-founder of Percy & Reed. 'To keep the look modern, just keep the pony quite low, and give it a slightly wet texture if you can (try Percy & Reed's Session Styling Define & Hold Finishing Cream).
'Another tip is to give your hair a cold rinse post-shampoo, not just to keep you cool but to shut the hair cuticle and help prevent hot-weather frizz,' he adds. To combat greasy roots, a dry shampoo works wonders in warmer temperatures. We love Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo & Volume which is available at supermarkets and high street chemists.
Fight the frizz-factor
If high humidity levels are sending your follicles into a mushroom-shaped frenzy, try a portable product to help. The Briogeo Style + Treat Yuzu + Plum Oil Sleek Stick looks like a roll-on deodorant - but that's where the similarities end. It is fantastic for smoothing flyaways and keeping your style looking smooth and slick.

I'm a beauty editor, and this is the one big mascara swap I recommend making for summer
Mascara is the ultimate staple in your make-up bag. A desert island product for many, and a daily must for most. And for those of us without luscious dark lashes, swiping through some black mascara before running out of the house is second nature. However, if you've been addicted to black mascara for as long as you can remember, then I have news for you. Because the most up-to-date way to wear it this summer is to swap black for a the chicer shade of brown - and it could make you look even better. Yes, it looks more subtle, but it can also make certain eye colours - particularly blue and green - pop more. It's mascara's version of quiet luxury; polished but understated. Which explains why more brands than ever are adding the shade to their bestselling mascaras. Read on to discover our tried-and-tested favourites. FOR HIGH OCTANE LENGTH: Hourglass Instant Extensions Espresso Mascara, £32, Space NK This is their cult tubing mascara – so cult one sells every 60 seconds. Tubing mascaras basically work by using polymers that set into flexible tubes that wrap round the diameter of each lash, like a tube coating. These rings extend the length by building beyond the tip of your natural lash, don't crumble like traditional mascaras, and can be removed without using make-up remover. Due to those clever polymer tubes, you can simply slide the mascara off using warm water. Deeply satisfying. £32 Shop FOR GREAT VALUE: L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Panorama Mascara in Brown, £12.99, Boots The increased length and volume this powerful tube can give is gob-smacking. The wand combs clumps out really well and it layers so you can turn the volume up to 11 with two coats. L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Panorama Mascara £12.99 Shop FOR A NATURAL EFFECT: Glossier Lash Slick Lift and Lengthening Mascara, £20, Space NK This is as subtle as it sounds – more weightless than your typical mascara thanks to tiny one- and two-millimetre long fibres that it sticks to your lashes. You apply it just like a normal mascara and brush through, plus it can also be removed with warm water. £20 Shop FOR DRAMATIC LIFT: Westman Atelier Eye Want You Mascara in Clean Le Brun, £42, Cult Beauty From the mind of Gucci Westman, a high profile celebrity make-up artist and previous Artistic Director at both Lancome and Revlon, this mascara is a real overachiever -which it should be for the price. It has a tapered tip to allow reaching tiny lashes in the corners of your eyes, a creamy formula filled with carnauba and she butter to avoid flaking and help condition, and is highly pigmented for a rich payoff. Plus it has no nasties like silicones, parabens, phthalates, fragrance or talc. Westman Atelier Eye Want You Mascara £42 Shop FOR EXTREME DEFINITION: Sculpted by Aimee My Mascara in Brown, £18, The wand on this is ever so slightly curved for the perfect amount of curl without having to use eyelash curlers. The back of the wand has a really effective comb on it to help define and seek out any lumps – no wonder one sells every second. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission - learn more It's almost impossible to find a swimsuit that everyone looks good in, but I truly believe TA3's swimsuits are just that. These contouring swimsuits with built-in shapewear are perfect to smooth out your curves and give you that hourglass shape you truly desire. That's why they're perfect for postpartum mothers, too — no more feeling insecure in your body. Wear your TA3 one-piece suit with pride. TA3 Plungey Swimsuit Available in tons of colors, this shaping swimsuit will give you an hourglass shape while providing full support. It's available in sizes XXS to 4XL and can support cup sizes from A to K. Shop now while stocks last. Shop You might've seen these suits blowing up on Instagram or TikTok. Women put them on and then do a dramatic tie pull to tighten the suit, corset-style. The result is a smooth, Baywatch-style suit that holds everything in — literally. I own two pairs and it's my favorite for days I'm feeling a little bloated or just not confident in a bikini. The Plungey, $178, is the bestselling design and features a plunging neckline, a lace-up back, and the option to choose between 17 colors. TA3's most noteworthy aspect is its size availability. You can shop the Plungey in sizes ranging from XXS to 4XL. The best part? The suit can support all cup sizes — all the way from A to K. As a woman with a larger bust, this is game-changing for me. It really holds everything in place and keeps my chest from bouncing around. This makes it a particularly good option for postpartum women too, as it can offer the comfort and support you need, without ever feeling like it's biting into your skin or feeling too tight. And it really is comfortable — the suits are each made from breathable fabrics, designed to give moms the confidence they need, while also flattering your existing body type. Flattering for all: Women of all sizes love this suit for its flattering fit There are push-up bust pads in it too, giving you the lift you desire, and the suit itself offers sun protection, keeping you from burning while you're on the beach all day. It's fully adjustable too, from the straps to the lace-up design, allowing you to customize as you see fit. You don't have to take my word for it — over 500 TA3 shoppers gave the Plungey a 4.8-star rating. 'Believe the reviews. I do not like cheeky swimsuits so I chose the Plungey for the full bottom coverage... I wore it for 3 straight days at the beach and it was very comfortable and flattering,' says one shopper. 'This was the last style I tried as I have a large bust (34H) and thought it would be the least likely to contain and support my chest. Pleasantly surprised at the support it gives without underwire and it's the perfect amount of cheeky in the back,' adds another. Shop the suit in 17 different colors before they sell out of stock 'I have personally never worn a one-piece before this one and was afraid of feeling un-sexy. This suit accented my curves (and made some new ones) and gave me an hourglass figure. I'm obsessed,' says a third. I had the exact same experience when I tried my first TA3 swimsuit on, and you can too! Whether you're a postpartum mother or just someone looking to feel confident and sexy in a one-piece, TA3 has options for everyone. The Plungey is by far their most loved suit, but the brand offers tons of options depending on what you're looking for. Shop soon — because believe me, colors and sizes sell out often.

Glastonbury has banned one popular makeup - so we found some great alternatives
This year Glastonbury Festival has banned attendees from using glitter makeup, but don't despair, because we found some glitter-free alternatives to create your festival beauty look If you're packing your bags for this year's Glastonbury Festival, there's one thing you should be leaving out – glitter. The organisers have banned all glitter makeup from being brought into the festival (including biodegradable types!), which means you may have to re-think those sparkly beauty looks you had planned. Whilst you are allowed to buy biodegradable glitter from vendors once you're actually inside Worthy Farm, if you want to plan your makeup looks accordingly it might be time to think of a beauty plan B. So we've tracked down the best metallic looks that'll get you in the Glasto spirit without a hint of glitter in sight. Sephora Collection Colorful Special Effects Multichrome Liquid Eyeshadow - £15.99 It doesn't get more metallic than these multichrome liquid eyeshadows from Sephora. The creamy texture and precise tip means you can apply them as a sharp cat eye, blend them out into a smudgy shadow or use them to create patterns and designs on your skin. They also last up to 12 hours without smudging, which as anyone who's ever been to a festival knows, is a godsend. Choose from three different shades, and give yourself unlimited beauty looks with one handy product. Violette FR Yeux Paint - £33 If you prefer a solid monochromatic look, Violette FR's Yeux Paints are a must-buy. There are eight metallic shades to choose from, and you can also pick up a matte shade that matches, letting you create infinite different looks. They have a lightweight, buildable and blendable formula, and are crease-, smudge- and fade-proof, so they'll last through hours of dancing. You can use them for a subtle wash of colour, to create sharp, precise liner looks, or blend them into soft smokey eyes. And the best part is you don't even need a brush to apply them. E.l.f Duochrome Liquid Eyeshadow - £8 For anyone wanting to top up their festival beauty bag on a budget, E.l.f's Duochrome Liquid Eyeshadows are perfect. There's a choice of four different shades which suit all skin tones, and each one is highly pigmented and has a metallic swatch of colour which shifts colour in the light. The long-lasting gel-based formula should see you through hours of dancing whilst still feeling comfortable to wear, and you can use them to create a whole host of different multi-dimensional beauty looks that are perfect for festival season. Glisten Cosmetics UV IT! Clear UV Eyeliner – £8.50 Maria Mukaranda, Beauty Editor at Cosmetify, also suggested that UV eyeliner is a great way to give your makeup that festival-inspired look without the glitter. The neon liner shows up under ultraviolet light – which there will be plenty of around Glasto – and brings an unexpected twist to your eye makeup. You can mix it with your existing liner to add an extra element to your go-to makeup, or keep it clear and create everything from bold graphic liner to UV-activated freckles. To use it you just dip your liner brush in water and swirl it in the product, before applying it wherever you want to glow under the lights.
