Jimmy Barnes' missing teen family member found after Aussie rockstar's desperate plea for 14-year-old's whereabouts
A spokesperson for The Hills Police in Sydney's northwest took to Facebook on Sunday with the news that Blake Powell, the nephew of Barnes' son Jackie James, was located after he went missing on Friday.
"The 14-year-old boy reported missing from Castle Hill has been found and is safe - thanks to everyone who shared our appeal for help!" the status read.
Family member Sean Powell expressed his gratitude, revealing more than 6,000 people had shared the initial missing persons report.
'Facebook Fam, Blake is home. We're so relieved!' Powell wrote.
He thanked the concerned Sydney siders who on the weekend spent hours driving, on trains and in shopping centres trying to find the teen.
'To those who rode the metro, drove around and did laps on foot of the shopping centres — no words can describe our love and gratitude," Powell wrote.
"It felt like a needle in a haystack to find him.
'Life's not a smooth run. Hug your little ones tight tonight.'
The news of Blake's safety comes hours after Barnes reshared the initial report in the hopes his fans would help find his family member.
"Please help us find Blake, Jackie's nephew," the Aussie rockstar wrote.
The report said Blake went missing in Castle Hill on Friday and hadn't been since 4 pm that afternoon, with a description of the teen.
"He is 185cm tall, of thin build, 70kg, Caucasian appearance with an olive complexion, brown hair and eyes," it read.
The report also stated Blake regularly travels by public transport and spends time in shopping centres.
"Police and Family hold concerns for his welfare given his young age."
"Any information - please call Crime Stoppers on 1800333000 or Castle Hill Police."
Blake's uncle, Jackie James Barnes, is a drummer and the third child and only son of Barnes and his wife, Jane.
He has sisters, Mahalia, Eliza-Jane 'E.J.', and Elly-May Barnes; a half-brother, singer David Campbell, from Barnes' teenage relationship with Kim Campbell; and three half-sisters from his father's other relationships.
The Cold Chisel star is in the midst of his Defiant tour in Australia, which celebrates the release of his 21st studio album of the same name, following a series of health issues which sidelined him from performing.
Barnes underwent open-heart surgery in 2023 after a bacterial infection spread to a heart valve.
In August of that year, while on his Hell of a Time tour, the infection reached his hip and saw him be treated in intensive care.
Although he was initially fitted with a temporary hip, the 69-year-old singer later had a second surgery to replace it with a permanent joint.

Just weeks after audiences witnessed one of Julian McMahon's finest performances, opposite Nicolas Cage in the WA-shot psychological thriller The Surfer, the Australian actor has died from cancer aged 56. Wife Kelly Paniagua confirmed the star died on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida, after a private battle with the disease but did not go into specifics. 'With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,' she said. 'Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.' One of McMahon's last interviews was with The West Australian, and the son of former Prime Minister Billy McMahon spoke in glowing terms of his experience making The Surfer with Cage in Yallingup in 2023. '(It's) some of the most beautiful and spectacular countryside in the world, so a big part of this experience was actually the opportunity to live in such a wonderful place, for a period of time,' he said. Playing masculinity guru Scally in The Surfer, McMahon not only matched Cage's trademark intensity, the Aussie actor was often the most magnetic presence in the scene, which hinted at a potential career resurgence after a few years out of the spotlight. But hindsight casts a very different light on one of his last public appearances, at the film's US premiere at South by Southwest in Texas, where the star looked considerably more gaunt than his character in the movie. The talented star then moved to the Hollywood big screen playing Victor Von Doom in superhero franchise Fantastic Four in 2005 and again in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. However, away from the big and small screen, McMahon appeared to be the model dad to daughter Madison McMahon, 25, his only child and who he shares with ex-wife, Baywatch star Brooke Burns. In a series of public exchanges on Instagram, McMahon was playful and supportive with Madison, who only recently started a career as a yoga teacher at a studio in Miami. A cheerful Madison posted in March: 'Taught my first yoga class today. I guess dreams do come true.' The famous actor, appearing every inch the loving dad, fired back: 'Your (sic) awesome!!!!!' Madison took a playful dig at her actor father, correcting his post: 'no YOU'RE awesome.' Elsewhere, Madison posted of losing her childhood dog, Sandy, in 2023. We are grateful for the memories.' Tributes have already started pouring in for the beloved actor. Charmed co-star Rose McGowan led the celebrity tributes writing on Instagram, 'Julian you force of brilliance, wild talent and humour. 'For you, your family and loving fans all over the world, I pray comfort.' Fellow Charmed actress Holly Marie Combs also shared a tribute. 'One of a kind is an understatement. Your zest for life and crazy making sense of humour will be sorely missed,' she wrote. 'The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered. I hope you find our lady friend and dance in those rose petals.' Fantastic Four co-star Ioan Gruffudd also shared a tribute. 'This is terribly sad news. Even though we played each other's nemeses, there was always so much lightness and laughter working together. Every encounter with him was a joy,' he said.
