Abu Dhabi hosts I-Film Festival featuring TV BRICS documentaries

Abu Dhabi has hosted the I-Film Festival, a major cultural and cinematic event organised by the Innovative Film Academy (IFA), running until April 13. The festival will bring together creatives, filmmakers and media professionals from across the globe, with a focus on innovation, talent development and the future of filmmaking. TV BRICS, an international media network, joins the event as a media partner and will present two of its original documentary productions in the competition lineup. The first, Uralian Anomaly (2025), written by Ksenia Komissarova and directed by Andrey Porshnyak, explores the profession of geology, gold mining and subsoil research in Russia's Sverdlovsk region—one of the country's richest resource zones. The documentary was previously showcased at the 'Rendezvous with Russia. Siberian Character' festival. The second entry from TV BRICS is Partitura. Young Music of Russia, which highlights the talents of participants in the III All-Russian Competition of Young Composers 'Partitura' held in Moscow. The film, which premiered on February 28, 2025, was directed by Ivan Zakharenko and produced with the support of the TV BRICS network. The I-Film Festival will also host a rich programme of events, including roundtables, masterclasses, and high-level discussions. One of the highlights will be a panel titled Media, Education & Talent Development: Embracing Technological Advancement & Future Trends, scheduled for April 12. TV BRICS' International Projects Manager, Konstantin Khasanov, will be among the featured speakers. Festival Director Upasana Mittal noted that this is the second edition of the I-Film Festival in Abu Dhabi following a successful inaugural year. 'The event presents a unique platform for building meaningful partnerships and exploring the cutting-edge technologies shaping cinema's future,' she said, while extending appreciation to TV BRICS for their six years of partnership. The festival will conclude with sessions exploring animation graphics, comics, and the role of artificial intelligence in filmmaking. The grand finale will feature a special masterclass by legendary Indian film composer Ilaiyaraaja, who has scored music for over 1,400 films.
