USC's Alijah Arenas should be cleared to begin practicing Thursday
The five-star guard arrives at USC this summer as the most highly anticipated recruit of Musselman's tenure. Musselman — who coached Arenas' father, Gilbert, with the Golden State Warriors — has said on multiple occasions that he expects Arenas to be a difference-maker as a freshman.
The question now is how quickly Arenas can get up to speed after missing the first month of summer practice with a team that was totally rebuilt through the transfer portal.
USC's coach certainly isn't concerned about Arenas fitting in. Since arriving on campus, Musselman said, Arenas has made a point to follow the coach around on the court during practice.
'I think he knows the offense, on paper, maybe better than anyone on our team,' Musselman said. 'He's got an innate ability to kind of see things in a different manner.
'I would anticipate him picking it up really quick because he's come into our office. He's diagramming stuff during practice. He's talking to managers and GA's about where he should be on the floor.'
It was a harrowing few months for Arenas leading up to him being cleared at USC. One early morning in late April, he lost control of his Tesla Cybertruck and hit a tree. The car burst into flames, leaving him trapped inside. He was ultimately saved by a pair of good Samaritans who happened to be nearby, but Arenas would spend six days in the hospital before returning home, miraculously, without any lasting injuries.
After finishing his high school classwork so he could graduate a year early, Arenas underwent final medical testing at USC this week, Musselman said. He'll join at the halfway mark for the Trojans' summer practice session.

LeBron James' golf swing mocked by Stephen Curry, followed by a message
The post LeBron James' golf swing mocked by Stephen Curry, followed by a message appeared first on ClutchPoints. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, fresh off his 22nd NBA season, has found himself at the center of a different kind of spotlight, the golf course. The 40-year-old recently shared a few videos of his golf swing on social media, leading to widespread reaction due to its awkward, stiff form. The clips, filmed in Akron, Ohio, quickly went viral and led to widespread reactions. LeBron's swing was quite similar to that of Charles Barkley's, a longtime subject of light-hearted mockery in the golf world. Advertisement Among those reacting was Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, a self-proclaimed golf enthusiast and accomplished amateur player. Curry, who began playing golf at age 10 and won the 2023 American Century Championship, didn't hold back. During this year's edition of the same tournament in Lake Tahoe, where he is a co-favorite (+240) to win alongside Mardy Fish, Curry mimicked LeBron's swing in a hilarious impersonation that the gallery instantly recognized. When a fan shouted 'LeBron!' during the impression, Curry responded with a fist pump and handed the fan a water bottle. 'Unbelievable impersonation of my guy Bron's follow-through in the golf swing. But we all want to welcome LeBron James to the world of golf because the game needs you, big fella,' Curry said afterwards. This playful jab wasn't Curry's first response. After James initially posted the now-viral swing videos in the first week of July, which included explicit language, Curry dropped a comment on Instagram: Advertisement 'Welcome. We've been waiting for you.' While James is still relatively new to golf, Curry has long been a mainstay on the celebrity golf scene. His participation in the American Century Championship has included curated playlists, this year featuring the Fugees' 'Ready or Not,' Drake, Childish Gambino, and Leon Thomas, and consistently competitive performances. Curry, a skilled golfer and 2023 winner, is among the top picks this year after skipping the last tournament to compete in the 2024 Olympics. The lighthearted exchange added a humorous twist to the long-standing rivalry between the two future Hall of Famers. Though their on-court rivalry has cooled in recent years, Stephen Curry and LeBron James continue to share moments of friendly competition, now extending off the court. Interestingly, James' name has even been linked to the Warriors in recent trade speculation, with The Athletic listing Golden State as a potential landing spot alongside the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks, should James seek a realistic title shot. Seth Curry speaks on potentially joining the Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are yet to make a move in free agency. Outside of losing Kevon Looney to the New Orleans Pelicans, there has been no movement from the front office. Al Horford is widely expected to join the franchise as a free agent signing, but currently, there's no timeline for when he will make his final decision. Regardless of whether Horford signs with the Warriors or not, Mike Dunleavy Jr. could be tempted to add some extra shooting to the bench rotation. When talking to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area at the American Century Championship, Seth Curry was asked about potentially joining the Warriors this summer and teaming up with his superstar brother. 'I'm just trying to find a good spot for me,' Curry said. 'That's really it right now. Enjoyed my time in Charlotte. Love to go back, but that's a young team, them doing what they're doing. So right now, trying to figure out what's best for me and trying to get to a situation where I can be my best self and keep going and finish my career strong. I feel like I've been a part of Dub Nation for a while watching Steph and being around the organization. Obviously, they could use … any team could use shooting. But I can't say anything other than I'm trying to find the best place for me, and hopefully we'll figure it out in the next week and figure out where I'll be going next.' Seth Curry would undoubtedly fit into Steve Kerr's rotation. He's a career 43.3% 3-point shooter and can provide a scoring punch off the bench or as part of a starting unit. With Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield already on the roster, the Warriors would have a trio of elite snipers at their disposal should Seth join the rotation. However, there's no guarantee that Seth Curry will make the move to the Bay Area. He will undoubtedly make the best decision for his career. So, if another team offers a bigger or more consistent role, it would make sense for him to sign with them. Nevertheless, the idea of having Steph and Seth on one roster is something most Warriors fans have thought about at least once or twice. This post originally appeared on Warriors Wire! USC's Woody Marks could make substantial impact in Year 1 with Houston Texans
Last season as a USC Trojan, Woody Marks showed out in a big way. He delivered a 1,133 rushing yard season with 9 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 47 passes for 321 yards. This type of production led to Marks being selected with the No. 116 pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Houston Texans. The expectation for Marks in Year 1 isn't a 1,000-yard rushing season with the Texans. Houston already has an elite running back in the building: Joe Mixon. However, there is a dire need for a productive running back as the second option. That could be Nick Chubb or it could be Marks. In a Raiders Wire feature Texans Wire reporter Cole Thompson offered his thoughts on a potential breakout rookie for the Texans: "There will be a role for Marks in Nick Caley's offense. How big? That depends on the status of Nick Chubb, who when healthy should be the primary No. 2 back behind Joe Mixon. Still, the Texans didn't give up a future third-round pick in 2026 for the former USC star to sit. Marks' best asset are his hands, especially on third down in the receiving game. Over five college seasons with Mississippi State & USC, he caught 261 passes for 1,546 yards and five touchdowns. Caley's offense has always featured at least one stable pass-catching runner, so if Marks can provide that spark out of the backfield for C.J. Stroud during training camp, he'll be a gadget type that keeps the sticks moving on manageable situations through the air." Woody Marks is a multi-talented back who can play all three downs for this Texans offense, making him really valuable and a candidate for an impactful rookie performer. Who knows how productive Nick Chubb will be after suffering multiple injuries the last couple seasons? Woody Marks is definitely a name to keep an eye on for the Texans this upcoming preseason.
