Eddie Brent, 24, of Scranton, was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a police release. Over the past several days, Brent fled from police on two separate occasions while operating a stolen vehicle, the release states. On Saturday, officers spotted Brent in the area of the 1700 block of North Keyser Avenue. Officers followed Brent to a nearby gas station where he exited a stolen vehicle and resisted arrest while fleeing on foot, police said. Brent is also a suspect in several ongoing criminal investigations. MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man charged with murder was arrested on Thursday in connection to the Cache 42 shooting that left one person dead and two people injured earlier this month. Jerod Lawson, 24, was charged with three counts of Criminal Attempted First-Degree Murder. On June 8, deputies say they were called to a shooting in the parking lot of Cache 42 in the 4200 Block of Hacks Cross Road around 10 p.m. Two male adults and a 16-year-old were reportedly shot and taken to nearby hospitals. ORIGINAL: Man killed in shooting outside Cache 42, 2 people injured Two of the victims were taken to Germantown Methodist Hospital in non-critical condition. One of the adult male victims was transported to Regional One in critical condition and later pronounced dead. Bullet holes could be found in nearby vehicles and even in the restaurant's window. On June 26, after an extensive investigation, SCSO detectives with the Violent Crime Unit, along with the SWAT team and Fugitive Apprehension Team, executed an arrest warrant in the 6600 block of Whitten View Lane. Lawson is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning. His bond has not been set. Deputies have not revealed a motive for the killing. MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was critically injured in a shooting Thursday in the Cherokee area, and the man charged in the crime allegedly told police that he did it in self-defense. Jerome Settle, 22, was charged with Aggravated Assault and Theft of Property to wit: Stolen Firearm. His bond was set to $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Officers responded to a shooting at Kimball and Lamar at 9:35 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, a man was receiving medical attention after being shot. The victim was unable to give a statement to police because of his condition, and he was transported to Regional One in critical condition. Officers said they received another call from Jerome Settle in the 3300 block of Parker Avenue, and he told police he was responsible for the shooting. Police said they saw Settle with his hands in the air, and he was partially covered in blood. According to reports, Settle said, 'Yeah, I did it in self-defense, the gun is in the grass.' Settle was detained. Bond set for man charged in deadly Cache 42 shooting They said when the Violent Crimes Unit was on the scene, they observed a pool of blood and a stolen handgun from an Atoka, Tennessee, pawn shop in 2023. Officers located a black 9 mm handgun in the grass in front of the residence, along with a spent shell casing. Video surveillance from a residence showed Settle walking to a group of men around a black vehicle, and he reached over towards the victim and shot him once.
