Emirati airline Flydubai to resume flights to Damascus from June 1 - Dubai Gov't
"Flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has announced today the start of direct flights to Damascus from 01 June 2025. Flights to Damascus International Airport (DAM) will operate daily from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB)," the office said in a statement on Wednesday.
In mid-April, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced its decision to resume air traffic with Syria shortly after the visit to Abu Dhabi of Syria's interim president, Ahmed Al-Sharaa. Flights of all Emirati airlines to Syria were suspended more than a decade ago amid instability in the country.
Syria's armed opposition captured Damascus on December 8, 2024. Bashar Assad stepped down as Syrian president and left the country. Armed opposition leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa was declared transitional president in January and the new cabinet was formed in March.

AP: Water released to Yeleru reservoir to tide over dry spell: Kakinada Collector
Kakinada, July 26 (UNI) District Collector Shan Mohan said that water was released from Purushothapatnam Lift irrigation scheme stage-2 at Ramavaram in Jaggampeta mandal in to the Yeleru reservoir yesterday evening enabling the farmers of tail end areas to commence the agricultural operations. Mohan said that according to schedule, the water was to be released into the Reservoir during the first week of August but had to be advanced taking in to consideration the farmers problems and the dry spell.` Pithapuram ex-MLA SVSN Varma has represented the Minister for Irrigation Nimmala Ramanayudu on the need for early releasing of water to Yeleru reservoir as the agricultural operations are being delayed in tail end areas. Now the farmers can commence the agricultural operations as there would be no water problem, he added. Collector advised the farmers to plan their khariff-2025 season operations depending upon the water releasing time. CM cites HRW report, calls for end to BJP's ‘linguistic terrorism'
1 2 Kolkata: Citing a Human Rights Watch (HRW) report on the expulsion of Bengali migrants, CM Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that even international human rights organisations had started taking note of the "linguistic terrorism unleashed in India". Calling it a "shame", she said such acts "must stop" at once. Banerjee posted on X: "The internationally reputed and New York-based multi-country NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) has also now highlighted the issue of harassment, persecution and illegal deportation of Bengali-speaking people of India by the BJP governments in various states." "The human rights organisation has released a report saying what we have been saying: Bengali-speaking Indians (of different castes and communities) are being arbitrarily abused and pushed out in a concerted manner by the BJP establishment," she said, adding: "Elaine Pearson, Asia Director at HRW, has on record said that BJP is fuelling discrimination by arbitrarily expelling Bengalis from the country, including Indian citizens.
