Recapping sixth practice of Packers training camp: Matthew Golden shines
Recapping Day 6 of Packers training camp practices:
Injury updates
Receiver Dontayvion Wicks has a new calf injury and didn't practice. Running back MarShawn Lloyd injured his groin during Monday's practice and didn't participate Tuesday. The Packers believe Lloyd suffered a soft-tissue injury before he was hit by Nate Hobbs on Monday. Left guard Aaron Banks, who had a back injury last week, didn't practice, suggesting he really is day to day. Rookie receiver Savion Williams departed practice early.
Big things to know
While Jordan Morgan replaced Aaron Banks at left guard, Elgton Jenkins took his first 11-on-11 snaps of training camp at center. The Packers are easing him back into the mix, but Jenkins is progressing.
It's getting more and more difficult to temper expectations for Matthew Golden. On a 1-on-1 rep versus Carrington Valentine, Golden made a big-time adjustment of an underthrown deep ball and made the contested catch. Later, he got behind the coverage of the starting defense and caught a long touchdown pass from Jordan Love in 11-on-11. Love also found him on a crosser under pressure, and he drew two different penalty flags against coverage. The rookie is looking increasingly more impressive during the first week of camp.
Lukas Van Ness beat Jordan Morgan twice in pass-rushing 1-on-1s. Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Van Ness is 3-0 in the drill to start training camp. And the 2023 first-round pick has been active in 11-on-11 periods. Positive early signs.
Rookie defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse continues to make noise. Twice during team periods, he produced a "sack" of the quarterback. The undrafted rookie has made notable plays during three straight practices.
Signs of improvement are also showing up for Ty'Ron Hopper, who had another active practice.
Xavier McKinney had a pick of Jordan Love in a team period.
Can Luke Musgrave be a playmaker in Year 3? He had a good round of 1-on-1s against Javon Bullard.
Matt LaFleur pulled Rasheed Walker and made him run a lap late in the practice, and he was not happy in his post-practice huddle. It's possible an intense, physical practice got a little too intense and physical late.

Recapping seventh practice of Packers training camp: McManus misses, Morgan at LT
The Green Bay Packers provided good news on MarShawn Lloyd, returned Aaron Banks to 11-on-11 work, saw the first miss from Brandon McManus at training camp, repped Jordan Morgan at left tackle with the first-team offense and got a few highlight performances from important pass-rushers during Thursday's practice, the seventh of training camp. Recapping Day 7 of Packers training camp practices: Injury updates Matt LaFleur said running back MarShawn Lloyd avoided a long-term injury but will likely miss the rest of the practices this week. Left guard Aaron Banks, who has missed two practices with a back injury, returned on Thursday and participated during 11-on-11 periods. Receivers Dontayvion Wicks (calf) and Savion Williams (concussion) also returned, although Wicks dropped out late and receiver Jayden Reed missed some time. Big things to know Rashan Gary beat Zach Tom a couple of times in 1-on-1s, and Lukas Van Ness had another active day, including a win against Jordan Morgan in team. Brandon McManus is human after all. After making 25 straight kicks to open training camp, McManus missed during a windy day at Ray Nitschke Field. He responded later in the practice by making a pair of kicks over 50 yards. McManus is officially 28/29 so far at camp. With Aaron Banks and Elgton Jenkins back, Jordan Morgan received his most extensive work at left tackle of training camp. It looks like the competition at left tackle between Morgan and Rasheed Walker is officially on. Luke Musgrave made a pair of catches and Jordan Love was 4-for-6 passing during a third-down period. One of the connections between Love and Musgrave was an impressive completion against the coverage of Xavier McKinney and Carrington Valentine. Musgrave was a frequent target and caught passes during several team periods, marking his most productive day of camp. Romeo Doubs had a highlight play, making a contested catch over Javon Bullard along the sideline for a touchdown. Carrington Valentine picked off his third pass of training camp. He got Malik Willis during a two-minute period. The defense actually won all three two-minute periods -- with the offense needing to drive the field for a touchdown -- to end practice. Reporters at practice were impressed to see the work being done by Christian Watson on the sideline. Matt LaFleur press conference Up next The Packers will return to the practice field on Friday morning at 10:30 for the final practice before Saturday night's Family Night event inside Lambeau Field.

Charles Barkley rips TNT for lack of communication: ‘I told ‘em they sucked'
Charles Barkley genuinely enjoyed working to TNT for 25 years. But it was the network's lack of communication about 'Inside the NBA' potentially moving to ESPN that irked hm. 'I'll tell you something really (expletive) about it too: I found out that we got traded to ESPN from ESPN,' Barkley said during a recent appearance on the 'Pardon My Take' podcast. Barkley said he received a text message from Scott Van Pelt, Brian Windhorst, Elle Duncan and Bob Myers welcoming him to the ESPN family. 'I'm like, 'what family? What are you talking about?,'' he said. Barkley received a call from TNT about 90 minutes later informing him of what he already knew. 'I said, 'Well you probably could have gave us a heads up.' I said, 'you traded us to ESPN and we have to hear about it on the internet. ... That's just not the way you do business,'' Barkley noted. For months, there was speculation about TNT losing its NBA rights, but the network did, in Barkley's words, 'an awful job' keeping the employees updated on what was going on. 'One story said we lost it. The next story said we still in negotiation. Then we lost it. We're still in negotiations,' Barkley recalled. 'And TNT never came to us, like grown folks and said, 'Hey guys, we're probably going to lose the NBA,' which we could have understood.' 'I told 'em they sucked. Because there's a way you treat people,' he continued. 'Because if they had have came to us and said, 'Hey, you know what, it's a lot of money.' Because we were paying $1.2 billion a year and it went to $2.5 billion. That's a lot of money for 11 years. If they had said 'it's not a good deal,' we would've understood.' The NBA signed an 11-year media rights deal with Disney, NBC and Amazon. The deal — rumored to be worth at least $76 million —will keep games on ESPN and ABC. Barkley, Earnie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal will remain with 'Inside the NBA' — on the air with TNT since 1989 — when it moves to ESPN beginning the 2025-26 season. Barkley originally was going to step away from television after TNT lost its media rights, but he will remain with his longtime TNT co-workers as the four-man crew shifts to ESPN. 'Inside the NBA' will handle pregame, halftime and postgame coverage of the NBA Finals on ABC, conference finals and the NBA Playoffs. During the regular season, it will be part of opening week coverage, as well as Christmas Day, all ABC games after Jan. 1, the final week of the season and other marquee events.
