Governor approves ₹5,000 crore KKRDB action plan for 2025–26
Jewargi MLA and KKRDB chairperson Ajay Singh, who released a press note on Thursday, said the approval came in the third week of July after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah submitted the plan for the Governor's assent. 'The early clearance this year will allow the board to begin implementation well on time and take up more development works with added momentum,' he said.
The current year's action plan was finalised during the KKRDB board meeting on May 10, 2025, in the presence of elected representatives, including MLAs, MPs, and Ministers. Mr. Singh said the action plan was prepared based on recommendations of the Nanjundappa Committee and in line with the Comprehensive Development Report (CDR) index. The allocation has been planned proportionately to the population and categorised under micro, macro, discretionary grants, and administrative expenses, he added.
'In previous years, there had been delays in approval. For instance, the 2023–24 plan was cleared in December, even though the board met in August and submitted the plan soon after. Despite the delay, the board implemented projects worth ₹2,009 crore across key sectors like education, health and infrastructure by the end of March,' Dr. Singh noted.
He said this year's action plan was prepared within the fiscal limits set by the State Budget and duly cleared by the Finance Department. 'We had received permission from the Finance Department to prepare a ₹5,000 crore plan, and it has now been approved by the Governor without delay,' he added.
The board had submitted the draft to Raj Bhavan promptly after the Chief Minister's approval, and Dr. Singh personally met the Governor to thank him for the swift response.
'The Governor's timely approval in July itself has given Kalyana Karnataka a new impetus for development. It allows us to begin implementation at the earliest and ensure speedy progress in backward areas,' Dr. Singh said.

The ruling BJP would be highlighting the Indian military's successful dismantlingof terror infrastructure in Pakistan, including Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur and hitting for the first time the Pakistani side of Punjab since the 1971 war. The party would also try to corner the Congress by highlighting the inner-party differences over its MPs participating in the multi-party delegations sent by the government.

CRPF personnel to be sent to Libya to secure Indian embassy
The CRPF will soon send its personnel to Libya, CRPF director general (DG) GP Singh said at the raising day function of the force on Sunday. A CRPF contingent will be incharge of the embassy security and posted in internal security duty, people aware of the matter said, adding that around 50 officers have been selected. CRPF personnel to be sent to Libya to secure Indian embassy Addressing his troops on the raising day function, Singh said, 'CRPF is not only working inside the country but as part of the United Nations missions, it is posted in Sri Lanka, Haiti, Kosovo, Liberia and other countries as peacekeepers. Currently CRPF is there in the Baghdad embassy and is ready to be sent to Libya.' Singh did not share other details of the CRPF's proposed operations in Libya. 'The MHA has asked CRPF to prepare its best officers. Personnel who have experience of working in conflict, notably J&K, North East and Left Wing Extremism Areas(LWE) areas have been handpicked. The teams are ready and will fly out as soon as the clearance is received from the MHA and MEA,' one officer, who asked not to be named, said. Until 2019, the CRPF was posted in Tripoli(Libya) to guard the Indian embassy but the contingent was pulled up after violence escalated in the country due to the civil war there. India reopened its embassy in June last year, after almost five years during which the mission in Tripoli was maintained by a skeletal staff consisting of a gardener and a consular clerk. Prior to the uprising against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, about 18,000 Indians worked in the country. Amid the fragile security situation in Libya in 2014, some 3,800 Indian nationals were repatriated, including six who had been kidnapped by the Islamic State. At the CRPF's 87th Raising Day function, union home secretary Govind Mohan said that the CRPF has set up 149 camps of forward operating bases in core Naxal areas, which have pushed back forced the left wing extremists. Mohan said the ministry has identified challenges with which the CRPF personnel are living in the camps and conducting anti-Naxal ops. 'In the LWE areas, during an assessment we found out the challenges faced by the jawan – drinking water, road connectivity, mobile phone connectivity. The MHA is in mission mode to provide the best facilities at the camps. In some places such as Bastar, Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada where there were no roads all these years. The CRPF has set up camps so we are confident in winning this battle in Central India against LWE. It is our duty that we provide the best facilities at the earliest so that our brave personnel have the facilities and can at least take rest when they return to their camps. The Border Roads Organisations(BRO) is working to build roads in core Naxal areas and made it a priority. The Naxal violence is reducing. It is because of the strength of CRPF that the ministry has resolved to end Naxal violence by March 2021, 2026,' Govind said.

Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam official suspended for misbehaving with consumer
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Lucknow, Jul 27 (PTI) A superintendent engineer (SE) of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam has been suspended for allegedly misbehaving with a consumer, officials said on Sunday. Sharing the suspension order of SE Prashant Singh on X, Uttar Pradesh Energy and Urban Development Minister A K Sharma said, 'Upbhogta Devo Bhav (consumer is god)!" 'The SE of Basti, Prashant Singh, has been suspended with immediate effect for his insensitivity and indecent behaviour towards the complaint of electricity consumers. 'All other electricity officers and employees have been directed for effective and quick solution of consumer problems. Everyone should be ready for public service," Sharma said. The suspension order was issued on Saturday by Chief Engineer (administration) Arvind Nayak on behalf of the managing director of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (PVVN). It said that Bharat Pandey, a resident of Mudaghat in Basti district, lodged a complaint with Singh over phone on July 18 about non-supply of electricity. The suspension order said Singh behaved 'indecently" with the complainant despite being in a responsible position, which fell under the category of 'misconduct". Singh will remain attached to the office of the MD, PVVN, Varanasi, during his suspension period, the order said. Accountability will be fixed from the top management of the power corporation to the field-level officials, he said. Arbitrary behaviour of any staff member hindering development will be strongly dealt with, the minister said in the statement. 'Despite substantial investments in power infrastructure – over Rs 26,000 crore in the last three years – the image of the government and the department is being damaged by the carelessness of a few employees. 'In view of the state's development needs and the rights of the consumers, such irresponsibility will no longer be accepted," Sharma said.
