'Enough about me': Dimple Kapadia's unexpected remark once left Saiyaara's Rajesh Kumar stunned

Economic Times23-07-2025
Rajesh Kumar recalls a 'beautiful moment' from a conversation he had with Dimple Kapadia.
Rajesh Kumar was recently seen in Saiyaara playing the role of Aneet Padda's dad. He is popularly known as Rosesh Kumar from the TV sitcom, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, which starred Ratna Pathak Shah and Rupali Ganguly. Recently, in an interview, the actor opened up about how there's a lack of conversation between an experienced and a successful person. He talked about how he made an effort to bond with his co-stars while filming Saiyaara to build an emotional bond that would reflect on the screen as well. During the same interview, he remembered a special and beautiful moment from his past, a conversation with Bollywood diva Dimple Kapadia.
'Enough about me — can I get to know you now?' That one line from Dimple Kapadia stayed with Rajesh Kumar long after the shoot wrapped. In a recent interview with Galatta India, the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor fondly recalled a beautiful moment he shared with the veteran actress while filming Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya in Jaisalmer.
Rajesh revealed that while they were shooting in Jaisalmer, during a shift break, a few people were sitting around — Dimple Kapadia included. Everyone started talking about her films, her iconic songs, her performances — it was all about her. But then, Dimple Kapadia did something unexpected. After a few minutes, she smiled and said, "Okay, okay, enough about me… can I get to know you all now?" That simple question changed the tone of the conversation completely. For Rajesh Kumar, that's when the real conversation started. According to him, the general notion is to shower praise on a successful person one meets and then move on, and the other person just politely expresses gratitude. He reflected on how rare it is to have genuine human interactions in the fast-paced world of film sets. He mentioned how actors spend 12 hours a day working together, but do not even know each other's stories. But his moment with Dimple Kapadia continues to remind him of how much actors miss out in their work environment if they are not making efforts to connect.

Saiyaara lifetime box office: Biggest love story of 2025 with Rs 400 crore haul

YRF's 'Saiyaara' has been doing extensively well at the box office. The film received mixed reactions from critics, but grew fabulously on positive word-of-mouth. So much so that it is on its way to becoming the biggest Bollywood film headlined by debutants. However, the future of the film depends on how the audience responds to the new releases - 'Son of Sardaar 2' and 'Dhadak 2'. spoke to trade analyst Girish Johar to understand what lies in the future for 'Saiyaara', and how new releases are going to affect its run at the box Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-starrer is "poised for a Rs 400 crore" collection at the domestic box office, said Johar. "'Saiyaara' is tracking very well, and it's poised to have a very successful run. We all know that. I believe Rs 400 crore box office in the domestic market is a very good number. The film can very easily achieve that," he vs Son of Sardaar 2 vs Dhadak 2 vs Mahavtar Narsimha at box officeReferring to the new releases which are hitting the screens this weekend, the trade analyst shared, "There is a rush of fresh releases. 'Dhadak 2' is looking very good, everyone is talking about it. 'Son of Sardaar 2' is there. There are other films also. Even the 'Mahavtar Narsimha' animation film is doing well. Having said that, I believe that 'Saiyaara' has a very long innings at the box office. I hope it does 50 days as well, and I believe 55 days or Rs 400 crore is definitely on the cards."But how would the fresh releases impact 'Saiyaara's' business in the long run? While a "speed-breaker" will be experienced, the overall run doesn't look bleak, he added."As we all know, when new releases come, they do tend to give a little roadblock or a speed-breaker to the previous film which is running. So, in this case, 'Dhadak 2' is also a similar genre film, and people are talking about it. It's a youthful romance, a musical, and the audiences seem excited about it." He talked about the other film: 'Son of Sardar 2' is also a family entertainer. I believe if the reception of both these new releases is good, it will have some impact at the box office. However, eventually 'Saiyaara' is an audience-approved film. I don't think much difference is going to be there. It has already done a major part of its business." Considering the current trend, 'Saiyaara' is expected to continue its domestic run, but overseas will see a slight shift due to new international said anything between "9-10 million mark from overseas business is good."'Saiyaara' is running at around Rs 273 crore nett in India, and it will be able to enter the Rs 300 crore club by the end of its third weekend. The journey to Rs 400 crore will not be as smooth as it has been so far, but the film is likely to hit a home-run at the end of its lifetime business. It will be difficult for any romantic film to follow the same path as 'Saiyaara', at least this year. - EndsTrending Reel

Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's 'Dhadak 2' movie review: An affecting love story about caste, humiliation, and honour

If Saiyaara, despite a happy ending, made people cry buckets of water, this romantic drama may go a step ahead. The film may end but the caste battle won't. What's there in a name huh? read more Cast: Siddhant Chaturvedi & Triptii Dimri Director: Shazia Iqbal Language: Hindi There was a lot more to the 2016 Marathi film Sairat than its historic commercial achievement. There was a lot more to that film than its aching and sweeping love story. Director Nagraj Manjule's ballsy, bold, and bone-chilling film was a haunting portrayal of caste politics with one of the most walloping climatic scenes in recent memory. When Dharma Productions remade this blockbuster in the form of Dhadak two years later, the cosmetic treatment never allowed the film to move beyond a banal love saga of two different individuals in love. Then came the 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, again a take on two people united by passion and divided by politics. The leading production house of Bollywood has now eyed on this saga too. They have even given it the same title and added a 2 to it. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD This isn't a spiritual sequel but a rather scary one. From 2016 till 2025, the movies show how the nation may not have evolved one bit. The upper echelons continue to gaze at the lower strata with a sense of dislike and disdain. At least this is what the four movies tell us. The protagonists in the originals felt like they truly occupied the world they were thrown into. For the remakes, the makers cast names who you wouldn't imagine playing these characters. But which actor wouldn't like to expand its oeuvre? So it was Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor for Dhadak, and it's Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri for Dhadak 2. Chaturvedi, who made a solid impression in the rousing and remarkable Gully Boy (2019), kind of lost track of his fluidity in his (rightful) attempt to entice a wider audience. But Dhadak 2 stands miles ahead of turgid titles like Phone Bhoot and Yudhra. For Dimri, it's the opposite. The soulfulness and effervescence of Laila Majnu, Bulbbul, and Qala got eclipsed by the erotica and staggering success of Animal. But for this actress too, it's a performance that isn't as limp as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Bad Newz. And then there's the omnipresent and overpowering Saurabh Sachdeva. His bruised eyes and brooding aura suggest hurt. The intimidating baritone always acts like a trigger warning for impending doom. Dhadak means heartbeat, but once you've seen both the films, you get a sense that there couldn't have been a more ironic moniker for the stories given how impossibly difficult it is for two different people to breathe the air of love. The names and the environment may have changed in these seven years, the essence remains constant. What has also remained intact is how the censor board continues to mutilate crucial conversations about case politics snd reservation in movies. The incoherent dubbing dilutes the effect of the narrative. But it's good to see a story touching this side of history after Anubhav Sinha's Article 15. And unlike the first film in the franchise, Dhadak 2 gets the heartland and humour right. Chaturvedi's Nilesh is his most vulnerable outing yet. And despite the endless trauma he's subjected to, Nilesh is all heart. He cracks some amusing one-liners, pays homage to Shah Rukh Khan from Veer Zaara, and his feeble body language makes you empathize with his plight. Dimri's more composed in her language because of her caste. And the two may not light up the screen with their chemistry, you do want them to be together. That's more than half of the job done. Such is the trauma of the hero and the nature of the story, the moment he cracks a smile, you know he's about to be harrowed soon. And some scenes create a lump. Nilesh is urinated on, thrown mud-water on, his father is publicly mortified. The battle finally ends for him, but it may not be true for others. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Dhadak 2 may not change the scheme of things despite shedding light on the dark side of the nation. It also at times bites more than it can chew, with the screenplay juxtaposing horror and humour together. And given the wave of a recent romantic blockbuster too famous to be reminded again, it will be interesting to see how this one is received. If Saiyaara, despite a happy ending, made people cry buckets of water, this romantic drama may go a step ahead. The film may end but the caste battle won't. What's there in a name huh? 2 new Bollywood films releasing in theaters this week: Son of Sardaar 2 vs Dhadak 2

Friday is quite a special day for all movie lovers, as they get to witness a new release. Well, as we near August 1, we thought of listing down all the Hindi movie releases that are going to hit the screens this Friday. We have a clash of 2 major films belonging to different genres, and it's going to be interesting to see which one emerges as a winner. Son of Sardaar 2 This one is a sequel to the hit film Son of Sardaar, which starred Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The sequel is releasing after almost 13 years. This time, the story revolves around Jassi, who moves to Scotland to win his wife (Neeru Bajwa) back. She refuses to come back, leaving him stranded. He then finds himself in love with a girl belonging to a Pakistani family. He also lands in a mafia setup, which compels him to be a part of the most chaotic Sikh wedding. Well, the trailer of the film and the songs have already created a lot of hype. Now, only time will tell if it performs well at the box office or not. Dhadak 2 Dhadak 2 is an official remake of the 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. The story revolves around 2 law students who meet in college and fall in love. Siddhant Chaturvedi belongs to a lower caste and is not comfortable in English. Triptii Dimri, who belongs to an upper caste, helps him with his studies. Later, the two become good friends and eventually fall in love despite their caste difference. Drama unfolds when society comes to know about their romance, followed by traumatic incidents and much more. Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, Dhadak 2 marks the spiritual sequel to the 2018 film, Dhadak, which was headlined by Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor. It is one of the biggest box-office clashes, and with Saiyaara still going strong, it is a tough competition.
