EAM Jaishankar begins 4th India-Central Asia Dialogue
The attendees included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu of Kazakhstan, Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin of Tajikistan, Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev of Kyrgyzstan and Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov of Uzbekistan.

The 3rd meeting of the Dialogue was hosted by India in New Delhi in December 2021, as per a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs.
India and Central Asia, in each other's 'Extended Neighbourhood', enjoy close and cordial contemporary diplomatic relations underpinned by millennia old cultural and people-to-people exchanges. The first India-Central Summit held virtually in January 2022 and the mechanism of India-Central Asia Dialogue, at the level of Foreign Ministers, have taken this relationship substantially forward, the statement said.
At the 4th Dialogue, on 6 June 2025, the Ministers will discuss further strengthening of relations between India and Central Asian countries with particular focus on trade, connectivity, technology, and development cooperation. They will also share perspectives on challenges to regional security and other regional and global issues of mutual interest, the statement said.
The Foreign Ministers will also participate in the India-Central Asia Business Council meeting being held on June 5 by MEA in collaboration with FICCI.
The India-Central Asia Dialogue is a manifestation of mutual interest on the part of India and the Central Asian countries to forge even closer, wider and stronger partnership in a spirit of friendship, trust and mutual understanding. (ANI)

She especially appreciated India's support under the USD 1 million 'HALT (High and Low Technology) in the COVID-19 project', with supply of mobile healthcare robots, telemedicine kits, and hand hygiene stations. PM Modi announced a gift of 2000 laptops to support Trinidad and Tobago's flagship educational programme. "Prime Minister Modi lauded Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar's ambitious vision of digitizing education and announced a gift of 2000 laptops to support Trinidad and Tobago's flagship educational programme. Prime Minister Modi also encouraged the students of Trinidad and Tobago to explore higher educational opportunities in India under various scholarship programmes offered by the Government of India," the statement said. The leaders identified agriculture and food security as another priority area. India's gift of agro-machinery worth USD 1 million for food processing and storage, to Trinidad and Tobago's National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation (NAMDEVCO) was appreciated. Prime Minister Modi, during a symbolic ceremony, handed over the first batch of machinery for NAMDEVCO. Prime Minister Modi also offered India's assistance in areas of natural farming, seaweed-based fertilizers, and millet cultivation, as per the statement. On healthcare, Prime Minister Modi commended the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for recognizing Indian Pharmacopoeia which will ensure closer collaboration in pharmaceutical sector and improved access for the people of Trinidad and Tobago to quality and affordable generic medicines from India as well as provision of medical treatment in India. "He also announced that in the coming months, a prosthetic limb fitment camp for 800 individuals will be organized in Trinidad and Tobago. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar thanked Prime Minister Modi for healthcare assistance which will take healthcare cooperation beyond medicines and equipments. She expressed Trinidad and Tobago's gratitude for the donation of twenty (20) Haemodialysis Units and two (2) Sea ambulances from the Government of India to assist in the provision of better-quality healthcare," the statement said. Trinidad and Tobago underscored the value of development cooperation while welcoming the signing of a MoU on Quick Impact Projects, which will enable implementation of community development projects in Trinidad and Tobago in a timely and effective manner with India's assistance, the MEA statement said.

PM Modi, Argentine President Agree To Diversify Bilateral Trade Basket
Buenos Aires: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Argentine President Javier Milei on Saturday agreed to diversify India-Argentina trade basket and vowed to expand cooperation in a range of critical areas such as defence, security, energy and minerals. In their wide-ranging talks, the two leaders emphasised on boosting defence cooperation between the two countries as it will serve each other's strategic interests. PM Modi arrived in Buenos Aires on Friday on a two-day trip in the third leg of his five-nation tour. Though PM Modi visited Argentina in 2018 to attend the G20 Summit, it is the first bilateral visit to the South American country by an Indian prime minister after a gap of 57 years. In a social media post, PM Modi said he and President Milei discussed ways to diversify trade ties and enhance cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, defence, security and energy. "There is immense scope in areas like pharmaceuticals and sports as well," he said. The prime minister described his meeting with President Milei as "excellent". "We are marking 75 years of India-Argentina diplomatic relations and 5 years since we elevated our relationship to a Strategic Partnership. We have covered significant ground in our bilateral relations, but we agree that the journey ahead is even more promising," the prime minister posted on X. Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs Periasamy Kumaran said the two leaders agreed to enhance India-Argentina collaboration across a range of sectors, including trade and commerce, technology, defence, space, health and pharmaceuticals. PM Modi and President Milei also agreed to further deepen the strategic partnership, he said adding they discussed the necessity to expand and diversify trade. At a press conference, Kumaran said Prime Minister Modi sought Argentina's support in expanding the India-MERCOSUR trade agreement, noting that it could deepen trade ties between the two nations as well. The preferential trade agreement (PTA) is aimed at expanding economic ties between India and the MERCOSUR bloc that includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. PM Modi and President Milei also underlined the need to enhance access for agricultural products in each other's markets and issued instructions to respective officials to set up a joint working group on agriculture. The relationship between the two countries was elevated to strategic partnership during the visit to India of the then Argentine President Mauricio Macri in February 2019. The two sides have been cooperating in several key areas such as trade, defence, critical minerals, oil and gas, nuclear energy, agriculture, culture and technology. India and Argentina have significant cooperation in the mineral resources sector, particularly in lithium -- a critical input for India's green energy transition. An MoU on cooperation in the field of mineral resources was signed in August 2022. The first meeting of the joint working group set up under the framework of the MoU was held in January. The India-Argentina bilateral trade has been on an upswing. The trade volume more than doubled in three years from 2019 to 2022, peaking at USD 6.4 billion in 2022. In 2021 and 2022, India was Argentina's fourth largest trading partner. In 2024, total annual bilateral trade between India and Argentina was USD 5.23 billion, positioning India as Argentina's fifth-largest trading partner and export destination.
